When we got up to the front counter where we usually pay we waited for a while then finally asked a guy if we could just pay for this he rudely told us the line starts behind the 40 people waiting for their smoked products and meats and delis and salads we tried to explain to it we only had three items here that were prepackaged and just ring us up again rudely told us the line starts back there. I wanted to leave the items on the counter but my wife decided to put them all back. This to me is the same of buying a quart of milk at the supermarket and having them tell you you have to go back and take a number at the deli counter to pay for it, pretty stupid. Will never be back.

I loved that each item had the simple ingredients listed with it on the name-- this made it easy for needing to ask if you have food allergies, but also terrific to see that the treats are made with basic ingredients like you'd use at home! I tried a snickerdoodle whoopie pie with cream cheese icing inside. The cookies were perfect and the frosting was a bit on the super sweet side but that's how I like my frosting so it was delicious! My mom got a slice of pie- the flavor was pretty good but since it was kept in the fridge, the crust lost a bit of the crunch/flakiness. We bought a take and bake frozen raspberry pie for the next time we have guests over. Mom also got a brownie, which she said was very good as well. The wide selection of pre made salads and sandwiches looked great as well as the large selection of take and bake meals and side dishes. This is my favorite type of a local gem to discover. It's a perfect spot to stop on the way to or from Lake Placid. I actually visited twice in the same day! It's open Friday-Monday (as of when I visited in November'23). I think I'll actually head back to that area next weekend and stop back in to pick up a few gifts and some more baked goods! Update--- We also did end up going back to the shop the following weekend for some more shopping. We baked it for Thanksgiving l there was no scent while it baked which was unusual. It wasn't the prettiest looking when it came out of the oven. More unfortunately, no one liked it! My mom said it was the worst she's ever tasted. The crust was so thick and the filling and crust both had a strange aftertaste. This was very disappointing because the treats we had in the store were delicious. If the review was based only on the pie, I'd be a 1/5 stars.

They hand trim all the gristle out, so it always tastes great, and it is reasonably priced. I am on the Paleo Diet, and their ground sirloin is super lean and has a great flavor and I eat a ton of it and am never disappointed. They get all sorts of other things in from time to time, as well, including corned beef and country hams depending on the time of the year. They also have all sorts of steaks, pork products, and chicken--and can special order you pretty much everything. Tom and Tess are also fun to talk to, and are generous and good-natured. This is the best place to get meat around, don't even bother with the supermarket--that stuff is garbage compared to what you can get here. They take EBT and cash, and I think checks once they get to know you, but no credit cards. They're located in a tiny garage on a side road (Second Street) in downtown Fair Haven, but are only a couple of minutes off of Route 4. Check them out--you will not be disappointed!
