We stopped by to have lunch and the food was great! Loved the burger and Tator tots. The blue gills batter was insanely good too. Light and crispy. The chips that came with it were good pub chips. Waters came out in mason jars which was cute and the entire vibe of the restaurant was Oceanside bar which was fun! The service was a bit slow for our liking even though there weren't many customers in there. Overall we had a good time and would go back to try their fish fry that people were raving about! 1st time at Lake Road inn. It was Sunday Feb 4th. My wife and I walked in and immediately liked the vacation like atmosphere. Sit down at the bar where they had very friendly staff working ordered appetizers which were very good and drinks were very reasonable. We continued over to the slot machine area, which could've been a lot cleaner. We played for a little bit and had a few more drinks before heading out. Stick to the Friday fish fry. It's pretty decent. We've been a few times now to give this place a fair shake. Beers are cold, selection is ordinary. We came on a weeknight recently. There were 4 people at the bar, a table for two and two of us. The only front of house was the bartender who was also server and we sat 15 minutes waiting for menus. Wings were tough, pizza was God awful. Supposedly homemade - doubtful. I read on FB today that earlier this year, LRI invested $250k here in improvements. If this is actually true, they got seriously ripped off. The chairs are saggy, lumpy, uncomfortable. The place is in dive territory. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since last year. Went there for lunch today, there where three of us. One waitress and she had several tables outs down a couple inside. Husband ordered the catfish which we where told would take longer, not a problem it's a beautiful day. I ordered the the chicken bacon ranch sandwich very dry I couldn't eat but a little of it, and the tots where deep fried and over cooked. The catfish was just ok. This bar/restaurant feels like it is the middle of nowhere, yet it's deceptively close to many small towns like El Paso and actually about 6 minutes off I55 too. Unfortunately, the service here has gotten horrible. Long waits for a waitress to acknowledge one upon arrival. Then prepare for another long wait to get that first round of drinks to be delivered to the table. If you're patient they will take a food order, and hats when it really gets SLOW! 45 minutes to an hour wait. We're not coming back except if they have a special event or band. The restaurant at El Paso Golf Club is 5 minutes away and has become our new hangout for the Summer! read more

We tried the Lake Road Inn for the first time this summer and boy were we missing out. My husband is a huge fan of wings and he said "their wings are the best." He likes "hot" and I always get the parmesan. They are cooked perfect. My son loves the bacon cheeseburger. The brisket chili, fries, and cheese curds are all really good. I liked the patio in the back of this place. We had lunch here on Father's Day and it was a nice visit with decent, basic food and beer selections. I felt like we got away from the city and had been on a little lake outing. Actually, we'd just come from riding the bike trails at Comlara and were in need of refreshments. Stopped here for the all you can eat Walleye! First I have to say the service is great. Our waitress was extremely attentive and friendly. The fish was fresh and the batter was very tasty. The dinner came with fries, cole slaw, and and dinner roll. When you asked for more fish you got a whole plate full of fish. I also ordered some deep fried white cheddar cheese balls. Delicious!! I just got back from a dinner at Lake Road. This had to be the longest I ever waited for food from any restaurant.... ever. Well over an hour to order a hamburger. It is consistently like this. The worst part is none of the staff wear masks. My friends say "well it's a country bar". No excuse. Staff is supposed to wear masks and NO one did. I will never go to this place again. Bar & grill - nothing fancy, but a larger place that also has an outdoor seating area. We went in the afternoon and there was a surprising/pleasing amount of natural light inside. They get four stars for the above average food and the attitude/service of all their staff. Starting with the bartender who said "no problem" to making a cherry coke for my wife (they don't have that variety in their fountain) to their including two cheeses with our pretzels because, based on our conversation, they kinda figured we'd like their beer cheese (and they were right!), to the obvious pride they took in preparing and serving their food, we were well taken care of. Our meal consisted of paperback cheese balls; the aforementioned soft pretzels with nacho & beer cheeses; cheeseburger; and a ribeye steak sandwich. I had a couple of draft microbrews, and we got out of there for $40 with tax/pre-gratuity. This place is just north of Normal/Bloomington and maybe five minutes down a county highway east of I-39. We decided to take a little trip to Lake Bloomington with the intent to eat dinner someplace. We all decided to try Lake Road Inn since it was under new ownership. Our waitress got to us right away, took our drink orders and gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. She came back with our drinks and took our orders (4 hamburgers and a pizza). Almost two hours later, our food showed up. The pizza wasn't hot, just a little warm and the burgers were good. Overall though, I liked the pizza, especially since it's thin crust. But it just seemed as if it was sitting on top of the oven to keep warm while the rest of the food was being prepared. While waiting for our food, we saw a group of 6 get up and leave (they were there before us) because it was taking so long for the food to get out. The waitress even went outside and talked to them, assuming she was trying to get them to stay. There were a few times we saw the owner coming around and talking to patrons. But then it seemed like he disappeared for awhile, and he wasn't in the kitchen helping out. We aren't sure we will be going back, unless we find out the food arrives faster. read more

Visited Lake Road Inn on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy but there were five or six tables open. We ended up leaving because no one came to take our order. One waitress did acknowledge us and said she'd get our waitress. We waited a little bit more, saw a group that came in after us get service. Waited some more but gave up after 20 minutes. We went another place very near by. We had our drinks and placed our order in under ten minutes. Unless I hear Lake Road's service is better, I won't be back. read more

If you have an appetite and you like walleye then this is the place for you on friday nights. They keep bringing it out and bringing it out until you feel your button starting to pull on your pants. The fish is crusted perfectly and the baked potatoes and cole slaw match up well. I was in the Lake Road Inn (LRI) a couple days ago to try out their new breakfast. I had the skillet and a mimosa and it was beyond my expectations. The service was spectacular as always. The food was hot and I strongly recommend smothering the skillet in gravy. It was amazing. I really enjoy taking the family there for the Friday night fish fry, but we will definitely be back on Sunday morning for brunch. read more

Came here after a day of boating and fishing on the lake, figured we would try something new. This place had a five item food menu and was out of three of the five items. Food was old had no flavor and was mostly wet bread. I actually hurt a tooth eating the French fries. Usually little hometown joints like these are the best, but this was not the case. Service was extremely slow. If your in no hurry it's not a bad place to eat. We got there around 7 pm and ordered an appetizer and a pizza. The appetizer came over an hour later and the pizza was about an hour and fifteen minutes. The overall time there was 2 hours+. The pizza was not bad but after that much of a wait, it kinda lost it's appeal. There were serval people that got up and walked out of the place. A hidden treasure! Friday night all you can eat fish fry is the yummiest thing around! The walleye is the best I have ever had. Very reasonable prices, this place is a hole in the wall restaurant and bar but the food and service can't be beat. Friday night fish fry begins at 5pm.
