Lake Roger's Park is a hidden gem. You feel like you are away from the world, but hear a car every now and then to remind you the road is not far away. I found that comforting considering we were skittish on the hiking trail with barely any people and lots of animal noises. That said, had a great time. We took the Red Loop around Roger's Lake. Path is a mix of sand, dirt, and tree roots. Well maintained and relatively flat so safe for kiddos and pets. Path is clearly marked and you can't get lost. A big loop with frequent intersections to the blue path. Park is easy to find right off the main road. Parking was easy in the lot with a kiosk to pay the flat $2 all day parking fee. There are a couple Port-O-Potties near the parking lot but none in the park so plan accordingly. I saw several pavilions, benches, water bladders for refills (I definitely suggest bringing your own because how long as that water been there), and there was plenty of shade throughout the park. The views are lovely. Lots of nature to enjoy in peace. I saw a few people with dogs, but not crowded by any means. Also very clean. No trash thrown about. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and hope to go again. read more

This is a very nice, well-maintained 272 acre county park & preserve on Lake Rogers that is open from 7 AM to 6 PM daily. It officially opened in March 2000. A full day ticket is $2 (cash or credit); place the ticket on your dashboard. Near the park's entrance are three portable toilets. There are benches; covered picnic areas (some w/ grills); two water stations complete w/ paper cups; plant & animal signage; a nature trail; & side trails. There are 2.25 miles of trails & three levels -- easy or short (green), intermediate or longer (blue), and hardest or longest (red). They are well-maintained & include the following trail floors: dirt, sand, grass, & fallen leaves. One section of the trail is marked "Birding Trail." Oak & Pine trees are prevalent throughout the park. Due to some small tree roots crisscrossing sections of the trail (see pic), unlike another Yelper I do not recommend this park for the elderly or disabled. There is a canoe/kayak launch area & a fishing area for "catch and release catfish & bass." There's also a trail that overlooks neighboring Raleigh Lake. Animals you may see include bald eagles, osprey, & wading birds, as well as opossums, raccoons, & otters. (We unfortunately saw just ants, butterflies, bees, & dragonflies.) The park includes Flatwoods & oak hammocks. In some areas, the tall trees will protect you from the sun. In others, it's full sun (& hot)! Camping for 501c youth groups is offered @ $2 per person. Reservations can be made for a minimum of 12 campers. Amenities include: portable water, fire pits, picnic tables, & access to restrooms & showers. There are two camping sites; one holds a maximum of 25 campers. The other holds a maximum of 50. Phone #813.264.3806 to book your outing. This was a pleasant hiking experience in a clean park. We came across just two separate hikers in the park-- both experienced hikers...and each oddly masked:) The only suggestion I would make to the park overseers is to mark the trails better; there were no markers each time a trail came to a "V" before separating. It was a tad perplexing, but not a major concern. Will definitely return to hike a different trail here if in the area again. read more

As part of the Hillsborough County hiking spree challenge, my family and I wound up at beautiful Lake Rogers Park. Lake Rogers is a wonderful park for nature centric hiking. The trails, yes there are multiple, travel around Lake Rogers. There are portions of the trails that are open and sunny and spots that are wooded and shady. Benches are placed strategically along the trail to offer both relief from the sun and views of the water. There are also a few pavilions that would work well for an afternoon picnic (or go crazy and brunch it if that's your thing). Lake Rogers Park is also a great destination for people who like canoeing and kayaking. There is a fee for parking at Lake Rogers. It cost two dollars per vehicle during our visit. Some Hillsborough County Parks offer water stations and I heard Lake Rogers is one of them but we didn't notice any during our hike. This was unfortunate because we ran out of water early on and couldn't find anywhere to refill. Lake Rogers Park is another excellent Hillsborough County Park. It doesn't have the playgrounds or RC Racing tracks that will excite the kids but it will put some dirt on your hiking boots. read more

Great spot for dog walking and hiking. Signage on the trails is 'iffy' so expect to find yourself 'mislaid' on occasions!

Great little walking park in Keystone area. More the parking lot is 9010 North Mobley Rd. It's a 2.5 mile loop around the lake. No houses. Just good views and a chance to enjoy nature. read more

Thanks to yelp I found this gem of a park! Situated in NW Hillsborough county, this beautifully protected area boasts a walking trail around the lake. It looks longer than it actually is (only 2.2 miles) but a great hike for the causal walker. I've been here a few times with my daughter in tow and have really enjoyed ourselves. The trees have been saved and they're in abundance, which is great! There are picnic benches scattered along the trail, so pack a lunch, bring your walking shoes and enjoy this little gem. read more

This is a great little park for a relaxing stroll or picnic. There is a water station for people and dogs with ice cold water. The trails run around the lake and some through wooded areas. The wooded areas are pretty shady but the lake trail is very hot with little relief from the sun. There are lots of shady picnic tables and nice places to enjoy a meal. It does cost to enter this park which is a drawback, but it is maintained so well that you can feel better about where that money goes. There are usually a ton of butterflies everywhere to watch and I've seen lots of turtles. You can bring your kayak or canoe and go out on the lake, but there is no shade on the water so I would recommend saving that activity for the cooler months. Overall, this isn't the best park around but it is worth a visit to check it out at least once. read more

Kicking myself for waiting so long to find this place...It's practically in my back yard too! A great park for anyone interested in a scenic walk or run around a small lake. Not sure what the total distance around the lake is ( saw a sign that said 2.2 miles which seems about right.) but it seemed just right for the casual walker...and dog owners, it's a great way to get your pup some excercise ( unless you have a neurotic squirrelly hunter like mine!). Make sure you remember to bring some singles ( the fee is either $2 or $3) and get the display card for your dashboard of your car. read more

I love this park!! It's out by where my family lives so we decided to check it out one weekend and were pleasantly surprised. Mostly shaded by the gorgeous trees but with enough sun to warm you up on a "chilly" day. It's around a 2&1/2 mile route and so pleasant. Perfect for dogs, kids and seniors alike. 2 water stations along the route for yourself or pet as well as lots of benches to stop and take in the scenery. Definitely a north Tampa gem. read more

We have lived within 5 miles of Lake Rogers Park for over 25 years and have only recently discovered it. What a great find!! Not only is there a nice wide path around Lake Rogers, there are numerous other paths you can follow to increase your mileage. We oft times walk the entire perimeter (near the fence) before choosing one of the other paths to finish up. There are areas that are more shaded than others and I can imagine it can get quite warm in the summer. There are two water stations, both for humans and pets. It is fun to look for animal tracks (deer, raccoon, bob cat and, possibly, coyote). We see more tracks on the perimeter trail than the more used trails. There is a $2 per car parking fee. There are portable restrooms at the entrance to the park. The park is well maintained and a joy to hike in! read more

Great walk and trail is well marked and maintained. You get a very scenic walk all the way around the lake. It's about a 2 mile trail the full length, but a 1 mile short trail is also lakeside. The parking costs $2 and it's a short distance from Carrolwood. I would recommend this to anyone who likes natural walks with no sidewalks. Plenty of stopping points about every quarter mile. read more

Visitors to this park deserve better. Yes, its a nice place to walk or hike. Yes, you can go boating. Yes, you can picnic. BUT There are no faucets with running water in case you need to wash your hands. There are no bathrooms except for portable toilets which were FILTHY and FLOODED OVER!!! ugh!!! I don't mind paying the $2 fee at other better-maintained county parks, but as I said up front, visitors to this park deserve better. Running water and clean toilets are basic amenities that should be offered and maintained. read more

Love this park. It's nice and shaded so makes for a pleasant walk around the lake. There are benches to rest and enjoy views of the lake. You have to pay $2 to park but I think it's worth it as the trails seem well maintained and litter free. A nice retreat from tampa traffic! read more

Perfect place to go for a run. The circle around the lake is 2 miles. My husband walks with the children around while I run. I end up catching them by about mile three after I have gone around once already. Then I finish the lap with the children while he runs around. We both get in our workout and her children get to stop and enjoy nature. There are water stops. But make sure to bring $2 for the parking pass. read more
