Beautiful serene dirt trails to run or walk
    Cristina B.

I have been to this park twice now. It's still weird to me as a new Florida resident to have to pay for park visits but that is the reality of Florida parks and rec. It's 2 dollars well spent. This park offers a lot of activities such as BMX, canoe rentals, horse riding trails, fitness trails with gym equipment along the way and also an archery range. Very well kept and clean park. So far I have only jogged and used gym equipment along "fitness trail" but I intend to try the archery range as well as horse riding and canoes! Very excited to have discovered this park. Very serene and peaceful. After my jog the first time I did some breathing exercises and meditation. There is also plenty of parking, shaded picnic tables and open grassy areas to just relax.

I don't understand that such a crappy place charges an entrance fee, the dilapidated children's facilities (not as good as some communities), the broken pavement (like it was bombed), it's just so bad!

Everything it's overpriced and under maintained my fiancé's live there for three years they've gone up and rent $300 in three years and they never maintain a place. It's a code enforcement to maintain a place after they threaten my fiancé.

It's spring time in Florida, received second COVID shot so its time to work on this pandemic weight! Lake Park has a great walking trail that has exercise equipment strategically placed and cold water points too. It is a great place get some fresh air, have a picnic or a birthday party for the little ones. This park has everything even a BMX and horse park. I highly recommend you check a park if not this one to enjoy all of the Sunshine States natural beauty.

Deer stood & stared! DEER! YES, DEER! Juvenile DEER! TWO! It was incredible! (I've obviously lived among concrete, tar, & gates too long:) See pic. Fall/Winter HOURS of operation are 8 AM - 6 PM, while Spring/Summer hours are 8 AM - 7 PM. Drive in, pay $2 cash or use a debit/credit card @ the kiosk, then place the preprinted ticket on your dash. The system is based on the honor system, but there are supposedly rangers in the park who check vehicles. You're allowed up to 8 people per vehicle. (I saw no rangers/employees upon either visit today.) If visitors prefer, they can buy a Singular Annual pass for $50 or a Family pass for $100. There's a $5 boat launch fee. To reserve a public picnic shelter, phone 813.987.6240, & to reserve a canoe dial 813.264.3806. I left for lunch after stumbling upon this park nestled within very busy northwest Tampa, but was able to return w/ a guest afterward-- the ticket is valid until the park closes. Lake Park actually houses FIVE lakes, a larger playground & a smaller one, shelters that can be reserved, covered & uncovered picnic tables (some w/ grills & fire pits), canoe rentals ($25 for four hours & $10 each additional hour), a BMX track, a Radio Controlled track (sooo cool:), archery, a boat ramp area, a volleyball/badminton net, two horse arenas, public restrooms w/ showers, & a 3+ mile hiking trail called Tortoise Trail. Runners, hikers, horseback riders & mountain bikers all share the trail. Pets are allowed, but they must be LEASHED! The 3.2 miles of Tortoise Trail have these ratings: Class C (primitive) & Rating 3 (strenuous). There are "cypress swamps, pine flatwoods, & hardwood hammocks." The fitness trail has workout stations (& cold drinking water). There is also youth group camping for all 501 (c) non-profit organizations; groups can be as small as twelve campers. What a slice of Heaven this park is in paved, bustling North Tampa (Lutz)! I watched as two dads played w/ their children on the playground, a church group use a covered shelter to prepare lunch for its youth group, & another father videotape his young helmeted son as he performed jumps on his dirt bike. I happily talked to deer, rather unfriendly large black crows, & I winched upon reading the gator warning signs-- gators & roaches scare the bejeebers out of me:) This park begs for a return visit & more of the 3.2 mile hiking trail, only w/ more appropriate footwear-- my flip flops couldn't cut it.

This is a Gem! We love this park! Definitely for families. You can host great outdoor parties with renting one of the shelters. Beautiful serenity, greet fitness trails. Fishing is better for when you either rent a boat or have your own. We didn't find a lot of places to fish without a boat but that could of us not finding it. However, we love how many options there were to this park!

This is a great spot that for children and adults. You can sit on a picnic table in the shade while your kids play on the playground. There is plenty of space to run around or just relax under a tree. This park has bathroom facilities, canoe rentals and pavilions (currently closed due to COVID). There is also a nature trail for more adventures. While the weather is currently lovely, this park is a go to for me and my granddaughter! Next time I am bringing a lunch. They do ask for a parking fee of $2.00 at the entrance, which is totally worth it.

Incredibly Versatile Park! This park is tucked away on North Dale Mabry and Van Dyke in Lutz. The entrance is on North Dale Mabry. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful!!! Lake Park is home to so MANY different activities that I am sure there is something for you! 1 mile hiking trail, playground, boat launch on non-motorized lake, BMX practice track for everyone, BMX competition track with scheduled races, RC car racing track for everyone, with scheduled events, equestrian competitions, horse trails and stables and picnic tables throughout the park. Really great! *Note: recently there was a sinkhole so part of the main road is closed off just past the playground, but there are ways open to enter each of the activity areas so if you are not sure how to access for your preferred event definitely call the park. $2 vehicle fee

Large park with a serviceable archery range. Some of the areas have been kept up better than others, but even though the target I used was pretty sad, it stopped the arrows and I could park right next to the individual lane. Places to launch kayaks and canoes and trails for walking- I'll definitely be back.

The preserve has three main trails with yellow, blue and red blaze marks on the trees. There is a map at the entrance so take a picture before heading out because you will forget. You can walk at least 2.25 miles if you follow each trail in their entirety. Several ponds and lakes make for pretty views and many birds. Couple spots with ditches and undulations make the trek interesting. The preserve is surrounded by houses so you will see those as you walk some trails. In the middle of the park, hidden a bit by bushes and trees that are slowly encroaching and taking it back is the foundation and about 4 inches of the block wall of what I assume is Violet Cury and her husband's former home. Wish the county or organization that maintains the preserve would put a marker here announcing what it used to be or look like. The view through the trees onto the biggest lake leads you to imagine what life was like for the two and their visitors back in the day when they lived there. Also wish they would clear some of the debris, roots and bushes that are slowly taking it over. Worried future generations won't be able to see the site like it is today. Most of the trails are quiet, although the ones along the south you do hear and see all the traffic along Sinclair Hills Rd. This is a pretty park where you can explore, look at old oak trees and walk the dog. Thank you Hillsborough County for buying this property years ago for our enjoyment!

Wanting to ensure…read moreour first "camping" experience since then would be one to remember and inspire more, I chose glamping to reduce the heavy lifting. And boy, am I glad I did. Not because of the: - Ice-cold AC that felt like a personal Arctic breeze - Mini fridge that perfectly held all our essentials (and a sneaky stash of chocolate for S'mores) - Keurig coffee maker that made mornings in the wild feel like a cozy café - Extremely comfy beds that cradled us like marshmallows - Strategically placed fan keeping the cool air flowing and the bugs away - All in a safe, clean, well-appointed tent and campsite that made us feel like nature royalty But also for the pure joy of being able to immerse ourselves in nature with none of the hassle. In just five minutes, you could be on the river or fishing. We saw everything from alligators and turtles to amazing birds. The water was crystal clear, and the campers were extremely friendly and respectful. Even the shower water was hot with great pressure - a true luxury in the wild. For novices and pros alike, this is the perfect way to introduce kids and adults to camping. You get the best of both worlds - the thrill of the great outdoors with the comforts of home. However, a quick tip for fellow glampers: make sure the Velcro seams on your tent are sealed. Otherwise, you might wake up at 3 am to a raccoon staring at you eye to eye, munching on a bag of Cheetos. Trust me, nothing says "good morning" quite like a critter with a penchant for junk food and personal space invasion! In the end, our glamping trip was the perfect blend of comfort and adventure. Whether you're a seasoned camper or a first-timer, this experience is bound to leave you with great memories and a newfound appreciation for the great outdoors - with the added bonus of a good night's sleep and no backaches. Plus, you get to tell the tale of your midnight raccoon rendezvous - a true badge of glamping honor!

I found that comforting considering we were skittish on the hiking trail with barely any people and lots of animal noises. That said, had a great time. We took the Red Loop around Roger's Lake. Path is a mix of sand, dirt, and tree roots. Well maintained and relatively flat so safe for kiddos and pets. Path is clearly marked and you can't get lost. A big loop with frequent intersections to the blue path. Park is easy to find right off the main road. Parking was easy in the lot with a kiosk to pay the flat $2 all day parking fee. There are a couple Port-O-Potties near the parking lot but none in the park so plan accordingly. I saw several pavilions, benches, water bladders for refills (I definitely suggest bringing your own because how long as that water been there), and there was plenty of shade throughout the park. The views are lovely. Lots of nature to enjoy in peace. I saw a few people with dogs, but not crowded by any means. Also very clean. No trash thrown about. A full day ticket is $2 (cash or credit); place the ticket on your dashboard. Near the park's entrance are three portable toilets. There are benches; covered picnic areas (some w/ grills); two water stations complete w/ paper cups; plant & animal signage; a nature trail; & side trails. There are 2.25 miles of trails & three levels -- easy or short (green), intermediate or longer (blue), and hardest or longest (red). They are well-maintained & include the following trail floors: dirt, sand, grass, & fallen leaves. One section of the trail is marked "Birding Trail." Oak & Pine trees are prevalent throughout the park. Due to some small tree roots crisscrossing sections of the trail (see pic), unlike another Yelper I do not recommend this park for the elderly or disabled. There is a canoe/kayak launch area & a fishing area for "catch and release catfish & bass." There's also a trail that overlooks neighboring Raleigh Lake. Animals you may see include bald eagles, osprey, & wading birds, as well as opossums, raccoons, & otters. (We unfortunately saw just ants, butterflies, bees, & dragonflies.) The park includes Flatwoods & oak hammocks. In some areas, the tall trees will protect you from the sun. In others, it's full sun (& hot)! Camping for 501c youth groups is offered @ $2 per person. Reservations can be made for a minimum of 12 campers. Amenities include: portable water, fire pits, picnic tables, & access to restrooms & showers. There are two camping sites; one holds a maximum of 25 campers. The other holds a maximum of 50. Phone #813.264.3806 to book your outing. This was a pleasant hiking experience in a clean park. We came across just two separate hikers in the park-- both experienced hikers...and each oddly masked:) The only suggestion I would make to the park overseers is to mark the trails better; there were no markers each time a trail came to a "V" before separating. It was a tad perplexing, but not a major concern. Will definitely return to hike a different trail here if in the area again.
