Talk about a beautiful sunset! The park is located in kind of a funny spot..almost like an office park area. The park/ beach is very lively and there were tons of families. We were never worried about safety and happily enjoyed our time here. The sunset itself was beautiful, and we even saw a dolphin! I haven't been to the beach in a while and we recently came here and I was sad to find out they now charge for parking. The price isn't terrible, but I feel like it's happening more and more. Luckily it was mobile so I just use my app and we are headed to the beach. They do have bathrooms for both men and women and I think a changing room as well. Showers are on the left side two of them and they also have a handicap seating area. Now getting to the beach is a little bit of a walk, but nothing like treasure Island. Just gotta find your spot and get cozy. The water was pretty calm the day we went and we stayed as long as the weather would let us before it started raining. But that's FL for you. read more

Can't believe I never reviewed this park especially back in the day. I use to walk around this park often on my lunch time. It was nice to have a convenient parking lot, and my favorite was a nice beach view. I'd bring my beach chair and sit here by the water and listen to the water and the planes. The airport is right across the street so I had no choice to listen to them over the water. Just recently we came back and walked on the walking path. There's lots of trees and grassy area and people play tons of disc golf here(frisbee golf). There is a sign at this park that says only service dogs but honestly there were tons of leashed dogs walking on the path with their owners. Yesterday was a super windy day and I wanted to avoid the wind which is hard to do but the trees cushioned the wind and it was not as windy by the walking path and especially compared to by the water. There are restrooms closer to the water as well as picnic tables and bbq grills. People like to have parties and get togethers here too. read more

During my stay in Tampa, I wanted to catch a sunset within walking distance of my hotel. I took the paved walking path from the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay to Cypress Point Park. The park was bustling, with tons of families getting family photos taken and others enjoying the coveted shelters and beach. There are stand up paddle board rentals, ample parking, and it's a great place to watch the planes come in to the nearby airport. read more

Cute little park with a hiking trail! I saw a giant bunny soon as I got off on the trail. Wildlife EVERYWHERE! There are tons of BIRDS! A baby water crane was walking around in the shallow water eating fish. So cute! There are picnic tables, a volley ball area, bathrooms & a little swimming beach. This Tampa inner city park is right next to a business park & also right next to the Tampa airport, so the planes fly right over head CLOSE like right over your HEAD! It's very LOUD. yikes. Can here today completely by accident. Looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy the bay. So after we found ourselves here we decided to walk around and check it out. The first thing I noticed was a disc golf course. Not big but but also not crowded and would be a great place to relax and practice my shots. Another thing we noticed was that there was plenty of parking. While there were a decent amount of people visiting while we were there it never seemed like it was to crowded. We did notice a few photo shoots going on which made for great people watching. While this beach probably won't make it onto any must visit beaches we found it a great place to unwind after a busy day and watch the sun go down. We took some great shots and totally agreed this wouldn't be our last visit here. While being right next to TPA and planes landing nonstop it really didn't dampen our mood to much The main negatives we got during our visit was the ice cream truck music from two different trucks that didn't leave during our entire visit. Lastly I visited the restroom on the way out and found it 85% unusable. I told the wife she should not utilize those facilities. It was rough. read more

Cypress Point Park might be one of the most underrated parks in the Tampa Bay Area. Located close to the airport and behind an office park, you would never think that there was a park located there. But it is precisely that reason that makes this park such a hidden gem. This park has plenty of shelters and is never packed like other places. Reserving a shelter online is incredibly easy, and there are plenty of BBQ grills around for you to do all the hot dog and hamburger grilling you want. Parking in super convenient as well. Finally, if you are into great views of the Bay as well as plane spotting, this is the perfect place. You get an awesome view of Tampa Bay and because the park is located directly in the flight path to the airport, you can constantly see planes taking off and landing. This park isn't a favorite of mine. However, if I'm I do consider this park to be well balanced. It has a nice playground for the kids, beach, paved (partially shaded) walking path, a challenging disc golf course, beach volleyball, and the newest activity installation...paddleboards. The paddleboards are rentals, interior way you would rent a Lyme scooter or Coast bike. 4 on hand. Winds will affect disc golf and will kill the joy of paddling here. Heavy rains will create soggy feet on the disc golf course. This is a good starting point if choosing to cycle to Safety Harbor and back. read more

Apart from the roaring planes taking off overhead, that is, if you are looking for a peaceful stroll by the water...cypress point park is a place to visit. First make your way through the industrial park access road. Watch the speed bumps. Parking is ample. The beach end has a covered area and restrooms with a view to the water and Howard Frankland Bridge. Nice breeze coming off the water and along the sunny part of the trails. Being sunscreen. The tree park section has a disc course and it was well used with the singles and groups hitting the course. There is a shaded trail walkway with a few picnic tables and benches connecting through the park, out and back. The other end meets up with Cypress St and a larger tree area. Looks like a good spot for cyclists to start on the Skyway/Veterans Memorial Trail if you're up to it. We'll keep that for another time. Enjoy! read more

Love this park cause you can have 2 different experiences with the water! Go left and you have amazing shaded mangroves with tons of little crabs and mussels and shallow water. Great park with beach and water views near International Plaza and the Westshore side of town. Not Clearwater Beach or St. Pete Beach but a wonderful waterfront oasis near downtown Tampa. Volleyball. Frisbee golf. Lay out. Nature walk. Hunt lil shark teeth (I haven't found any and the better areas are near Venice but I have seen others finding them). There's also a historical marker for the Civil War era salt works that were in the area. Covered picnic areas. Picnic Island is another lovely and even bigger park near Tampa. I really love this park. I visit at least two or three times a week on lunch break and it's always very peaceful. The weekends are a little busier and there are always photographers doing photo shoots because of how beautiful the park is. Sunsets are amazing here and you get great views of the bay. There are also grills available and three shelters available that can be reserved. read more

If you live in Tampa and have a desire to hang out by the water then this is a super convenient location. It doesn't replace beaches in St Pete. We come here when we don't want to make the 35-45 min trek to the gorgeous beaches in St Pete. It was busy on a Saturday late afternoon at the beach, park, grassy areas, and volleyball court. The man made beach is quite small and has a lot of trash mixed in with the sand. Also, it was alarming to see so many shards of glass. We didn't go in the water, but played along the edge since there was tons of seaweed. The day we went there were countless dead hermit crabs that had washed ashore. We stayed for a few hours. It's not a regular destination for us but a quick fix for a desire for hanging by the water. read more

I have had several friends recommend Cypress Point Park and I finally checked it out today. I absolutely loved it. Whether or not you like this park depends on what you are looking for. What this park has is free parking, a smaller beach on the bay, a disc golf course with a beautiful tree-filled park that has a path, a long running / bike trail, and amenities. I was honestly just looking to explore nature, find a quiet space to write, and walk a ton. The park exceeded my expectations. I started by checking out the beach. I was able to find a secluded walkway to spend some time writing and enjoying nature. There was a nice breeze and occasional planes overhead (which is a nostalgic childhood thing for me). After I was done writing (and reading...), I dropped my stuff off at my car and took off towards the park area. The trail wove through some beautiful trees and the disc golf area was mixed into the middle of it. It was a nice, tranquil walk / run through the park. I paused for some pictures and appreciated the park benches that were placed throughout. When I walked that entire trail (it does loop back around to the parking area...so keep going), I tried the trail that ventures off along the highway. That one does NOT loop back as I found out eventually. It was a nice path to walk down though. It was mostly secluded and had a cool vibe with the planes taking off overhead. I enjoyed it. The park has a bathroom and area to clean the sand off. There is also a small playground. Overall, I love Cypress Point Park. It was worth the short drive for me and I will visit again. This is a really nice park, it has a great view of the sunset. There is a playground, a trail, small sandy beach, a place to launch kayaks/canoes, and covered shelter areas. There are several bathrooms, but they were not very well kept (they were gross, and darkly lit). On my visit, I also noticed quite a bit of litter in the park and parking lot...lots left of fast food bags, plates of food and abandoned supplies just strewn about the ground, and an unusually large amount of abandoned bathing suit bottoms...? I didn't notice a lot of garbage cans. The picnic tables are old and falling apart, and despite a sign stating that no loud music was permitted, the air was being polluted with a very loud boombox pumping unpleasant music. I was a little surprised by the armed security guards ("mall cops"), they were pleasant but they really stood out (not in a good way)...is it necessary? I think this park would be exceptional if it's visitors treated it a little better, picked up their trash. read more

A sweet oasis in the middle of warehouse district sprawl. I stumbled upon this place by accident. I forget what I was searching for on Yelp and somehow this came up. What? A beach, that's not Ben T, and not an hour or more away from me? The first thing you notice about this park is it makes you feel like you're lost. You're heading down this bizarre access road or Cypress, through some warehouses until you finally start to see signage and greenery. Parking lies along a meandering road that leads to a centrally placed shower/bathroom pagoda. Spread out from this location you'll find a kid's jungle gym, covered tables, and barbecue grills. Further out from that you'll find some trails for jogging or biking, as well as a full-on disc golf course. Past the park area lies a couple of spots to access the "beach." Is it what you find on a Florida postcard? No. Does it have water, breezes, some great views, awesome sunsets and 3 feet of sand to squish between your toes without having to drive an hour? Yes. Depending on whee you set up, you get some great views of the Westin/Rocky Point, the Howard Frankland bridge, and on very clear days, you can see the St Pete "skyline." I almost feel bad writing this review and bringing attention to this place. No loud music, no overcrowding, no "crews" drinking like at Ben T Davis. A true little oasis. read more

While Cypress Point Park pales in comparison with other beaches in the Tampa Bay area this tranquil oasis is conveniently located for those of us that live an hour away from the beach. Amenities at Cypress Point Park include free parking, restrooms, covered pavilions, picnic tables, grills, water fountains, playground, jogging trail, and a Frisbee golf course. While this isn't the most pristine of beaches, Cypress Point does have a nice rustic appeal. Dogs are allowed in the park, but not on the beach. Since we had our furry friend with us we enjoyed the sunset from a bench in the park instead of on the beach. While this would not be my choice spot for a day at the beach I would definitely come back after work again to enjoy a sunset or play some Frisbee golf. read more

By far not the best beach. It's a practical beach for those of us who live nearby. If you don't feel like traveling far from Tampa and just want to soak some rays, this is a hidden little beach behind office buildings. Good enough for kids to play in sand and wade in water. There's also a playground for the kids. You can grill here and there's a path to take a jog or bike. You will have to deal with planes landing overhead, but if you're prepared for it watching the planes land overhead can be quite relaxing. Parking is free and there's never too big a crowd. read more

The beach is beautiful. Me and my boyfriend come here all the time with box wine and watch the sunset together. They have frisbee golf here. It isn't dog friendly, however, there were plenty of dogs there. I guess this rule isn't enforced. When my boyfriend and I showed up, two men were digging up what seemed to be drug money. LOL upon further investigation, we realized they were stealing sand for the hurricane. They also have a children's park that seems like a lot of fun. It is right off of cypress and Lois. The view is spectacular, on the left you have the Howard Franklin bridge. On the right, you have rocky point and the Causeway. I have never need here during the day, just at night to watch the sunset. It is a great place to bike to as well. Definitely a very romantic place to watch the sunset! read more

Is it a park, or a beach? I think that is where the confusion is found in the reviews I've seen written up on this ridiculously fantastic hidden gem. First off, let's get one thing straight, Tampa doesn't have beaches, none notable in size or reputation at least. We've got Ben T. Davis on the Causeway, which is a man-made "beach," we've got Picnic Island and then we've Cypress Point. Now, anyone who grew up here is familiar with this spot because it was a classic hideout for High Schoolers to illegally drink. It was just a sandy spot to park at the ass end of some business park off of Cypress. We called it Cypress Point back then, and I've heard it referred to as all kinds of other silly things, but no matter its many names, it was never a nice destination, and you certainly wouldn't take your family out there. Fast forward to 2015. I'm nerding out on Google Maps using the satellite view when I notice lots of cars, people and a clean beach where Cypress Point used to be. And it even looked like there were amenities. Could the city have come in and actually made good use of what could be a nice spot? I had to find out, so off I went. When I arrived, I first couldn't believe I remembered how to get there. I'm getting old, so it was good to see I haven't lost my damn mind yet. Second, I was astonished by the official park-like entrance, well-manicured landscape, trash bins, grills and signage. There were tons of folks out there and kids were frolicking in a playground area. There was a public restroom, and water fountains. It was like being in some parallel Tampa universe. I waltzed over to the benches near the beach, enjoyed the breeze and snapped some pics of the setting sun over Tampa Bay. It was relaxing, and I was just internally excited that this little strip of land had been put to good use. To any newcomers, please think of this as a city park that happens to be on a small stretch of sand on the bay and you won't be disappointed. read more
