    The start of the boardwalk

Lake Superior and the Boardwalk that goes around Canal Park towards Leif Erickson Park is an amazing walk anytime of the day. I loved going there just before the sun was setting to take a walk while drinking a hot cup of coffee when the nights were chilly. It can make for a romantic date or a great way to exercise. Animals are welcomed and there are plenty around. The view is consistently spectacular. If you are heading to Duluth and love to walk this is the place for you!

It's a nice boardwalk. I would suggest visiting there on a weekday not on the weekends. Great viewing area of Lake Superior and the canal. They do announce when a ship is coming in and they tell you some information about it. You can watch the bridge go up before the ship arrives. There is a museum located near the bridge and you are in walking distance of a lot of restaurants, shops and bars.

The lake walk as we all lovingly call it was a place I visited at least once a week no matter the weather.

The walk-in sites in general are all amazing, you're secluded from everyone else but still close to the amenities. Site 83 is about a 4-minute walk from where you park your car. There are two tent pads and plenty of space. It's a beautiful site--book it early! The amenities at the campground were great, plenty of places to recycle, fill up water, and throw out trash. The bathrooms are also very nice, but they are some of the busiest bathrooms I've ever seen! There are plenty of hiking trails as well, a great visitor center and gift shop, and it is an all around lovely state park.

I'm not super experienced at camping, but the campsites felt quite close together to me. Compared to other places we've been, the sites are much less private. AMENITIES: 5/5 The amount of water spickets and bathrooms around the site were great, and the showers/main bathroom facilities were nice! STATE PARK: 5/5 We loved walking a bit of the state park over the weekend! The suspension bridge is super cool, and it's really fun to walk on and explore the unique rock formations along the water.

My experience level is kayaking a few times a year on lakes primarily, though I have done ocean harbors and coves also. Our group included some with more and less experience than that. The guides ask for your input ahead of time on what experience you are looking for, and dietary restrictions, which is great. Based on the weather forecast, our guide recommended we consider tandem kayaks. We normally prefer single kayaks but took the advice and were so glad we did as it absolutely helped in powering through the wind and waves of Lake Superior (and the presence of the rudder meant a relatively low amount of coordination required between the two paddlers). The Lost Creek team also quickly acted to put together a plan B when our initial trip to Sand Island was nixed due to a small craft advisory. We ended up going to Basswood island instead. I appreciated the water exit training we did before the trip. The food provided throughout was excellent. Our sights included a seastack, an arch, and a shipwreck. Most of all, the guides ensured we had a fun, safe adventure!

I've kayaked AK, HI and the San Juans (WA) and this was the best! It's a very short bus ride to Meyers Beach so you don't waste a lot of time getting on the water. As a side note, I later learned from another type of boat tour on Madeline Island that there are a few pretenders in the kayak tour business but Lost Creek is considered by locals to be one of the best!!

This was our first time driving into Duluth through Superior Wisconsin so we had to make a stop at Pattison State Park. Our favorite view of the Big Falls was from the parking area across the street from the park entrance ( you still need a park permit to park there). Short hike to the viewing area and they also have a selfie station to get a great picture in front of the falls. The colors were beautiful as we came in the fall time but I would love to come back in the spring to see the falls raging!

The bathrooms were clean for the most part but the showers were kind of gross- however some of that was due to other campers. They are also in the process of building a new shower/bathroom facility. The most standout part of our stay however was Ranger Chris. He was incredibly nice and helpful, especially towards my 5 year old who always has about a million questions and observations. Ranger Chris hooked him up (pun intended) with a series of much treasured "fish cards" and a neat activity book that we had fun completing as a family so my boy could earn a Wisconsin patch. Thanks for making our (and especially his) stay wonderful, Ranger Chris!!
