I bought a power chair to help my 98 year old mother get out up out of her chair at Lake Surgical . I was away from home on business and got a call from my mother that the chair was wobbeling and the chair was not working properly . I called Lake Surgical about the problem. They sent a repairman out to my mothers apartment to fix the chair 2 hours later. The repairman found her water bottle stuck under her chair so the chair was not stable. They were very polite to my mother and they did not send me a bill for helping my mother. I was very happy that they helped my mother. I am not one to leave a bad review for a small business but I felt it was necessary. I am the owner of a home care business and one of my clients called me crying over her treatment when calling to check on a status on a part for a chair. Someone came to her house about 2 months ago, was supposed to order a part and she never heard back. When my client called to get an update, the owner was very abusive to her. He was wildly inappropriate and she called me in tears looking for advice on what to do. I confirmed her story with my employee who was horrified at how our client was treated. I can't say enough positive things about my many experiences at Lake surgical. The most recent had to do with my mom the doctor said she needed an electric chair that could lift her up. I placed a call to Lake surgical and two days later she had the chair. Their service is unbelievable and their staff is so knowledgeable. I bought a reclining, comfy lift chair from them which my Mom LOVES. As a employee of a small home care business I have brought business many times to Lake Surgical. Until yesterday I've never had a problem. While at my clients house she made a call to them while using speakerphone. She called because an order she placed never arrived and she was just calling for a status update. She was on the phone with the owner and he was rude, nasty, abusive, argumentative, raised his voice for no reason. He told her he is very busy with the pandemic and didn't have time to deal with her. If I hadn't heard with my own ears I wouldn't have believed it. My client never raised her voice, gave him an attitude or said anything inappropriate. I will never bring business to this store again! Amazon here we come!!! CAUTION. Don't ask for help AFTER the sale. My wife was preparing for knee surgery and decided to shop here. She bought a walker, toilet seat riser and a cane. We were told the cane would be covered by Medicare. It took forever to hear from Medicare. She called the store to find out if it had been submitted and was given a hard time and runaround from the manager. Finally 3 weeks later we heard from Medicare. Coincidence? The cane was NOT covered. After the way she was treated it is not worth the aggravation to call the store again. We will take the loss but next time we're going to Goodale's in Dover. read more

They are always helpful, knowledgeable, kind and sensitive to whatever it might be that you and your family are going thru at the time. Why do I go back-- because they are the only game in town and I thought I had no choice. Well, I found another local supply store called Goodale in Dover NJ. Much nicer to deal with. From the reviews is it hit or miss with this company. Last year, I rented a hospital bed with bells and whistles and a motorized wheel chair. I do this every year. I gave them my business for 5 or 6 years. Normally, I give them a window to drop off and pick up the equipment for their convenience. This time, they charged me the extra for the convenience time I gave them to drop off and pick up the equipment. There was always something edgy and arrogant about the owner Carmen but for me it was conveniently close and easy, since we rent the same thing every year for a month. When I called about the price difference Carmen gave me an attitude and did not want do anything, BETTER YET, he threatened me that if I would cancel the credit card, he would call all his colleges in the area to tell them not to do business with me. Never, have I experienced this from a store owner before. Lake Surgical Supply and Carmen lost my business. You should not do business with this outfit. There are plenty of honest medical supply stores who are happy to help you without an attitude. read more

I wish this app had negative stars to give. Just having major surgery and not feeling well at all I went there for my medical supply. The rude person on the phone told me they had what I needed. When I got there 10 minutes later I was told someone just came in and bought all of the item I needed and was suddenly out of stock. The sales person was very annoyed about my indecision about what to buy as a replacement. And then got annoyed at me again because I wanted to use Android pay which they don't have. He was extremely rude I will never go back again. I don't recommend this store to anyone. And you certainly don't want to go there when you don't feel good after surgery. read more

I am not someone who spends a lot of time writing reviews but in this case it is warranted. My elderly father has been having medical issues for quite some time and his care at home has been challenging. His mobility is extremely limited and getting him up from a seated position for his care can be very difficult. In thinking through this further we made a decision to invest in a Lift Recliner Chair which we thought might be helpful. Upon his recent stay in a nursing rehab facility I asked the Social Worker for recommendations on suppliers who may be able to help us pick the right chair. I was doing research online and found everything rather confusing. Upon reaching out to the medical suppliers that the facility recommended I found that not one of them sold Lift Chairs and they couldn't provide me with any additional helpful information because it wasn't something they sold. Not their fault, certainly, but I still needed answers. I switched gears and started looking for suppliers within a 15 mile radius which is how I found Lake Surgical Supply. Needless to say, I was impressed. I spoke to Scott at Lake Surgical and not only was he very informative he even went a step further to tell me what I should avoid in a chair as they only increased the cost and weren't effective options (heat, massage, etc). He definitely knew his stuff. This impressed me on many levels, made the selection process easy and made me feel confident that I ultimately made the right choice (and after a few days of use I can tell you that my father would agree!). Delivery was also prompt and hassle free. In reading reviews such as this I can imagine many of you may wonder if this review is real or fake. It's real. Caring for my dad has been tough and anyone who has dealt with eldercare will understand how difficult it is to get reliable answers to the many challenges we face. I had a full left hip replacement in July 2018, and thought I was prepared to recover at home. Someone mentioned that I should rent a lift-recliner chair, as it would make my life easier and not impede upon my recovery (ie. sitting in chairs with a 90 degree bend torso-to-thighs, or having to sit too low in my extra -comfy sofa). I called Lake and spoke with Carmen and he set me up with a beautiful, remote-controlled lift-recliner, answered all my questions, etc. about it. I also bought three really high-end ice packs (with clay inside, stays colder longer!), because I knew they would help the swelling and overall healing of my new hip. Every time I spoke with Carmen or Leo, they were friendly and answered all my pertinent questions! Also, the awesome delivery guys came to my house, moved furniture out of the way and set the chair up in perfect viewing distance form my TV/theater setup. Thanks gents! I recently rented an airplane-friendly wheelchair from these folks and the experience was excellent. I called first on the theory that I'd have to reserve the item, but they said that's not necessary, I could just walk in. And so, I did, and got a light yet sturdy wheelchair for only $25 for a week. I've been using Lake Surgical since 1990, and owner Carmen and his staff are my "go to" people. I've purchased so many products over the years from personal medical supplies (yes, Lake has adult "pull ups" even in my size for when I travel) to a walker with a seat and brakes (called a "rollater" to help me safely navigate distances). This month, I purchased a specific type of electric bed and an air mattress for my comfort. Carmen gave me the best advice and I got perfect products. These guys were great. My mother's rollator lost a bolt which required replacement along with another small part in order to work correctly. And a defective rollator or walker I assume is as good as none. I called Lake Surgical, emailed them a picture of the problem.
