It was a sweltering hot day on July 22, 2025, but my daughters, our dog, and I enjoyed this place anyway. The park, named after a for parks and recreation director named Julius Breckling (not listed on this Yelp page with his name), was huge - 39 acres huge. Lol. The cons were: - trash scattered sparingly on the ground - sus characters - some areas that were worn out/ run down - parking fees (see below) - no restrooms available - none that we saw Pros: + amphitheater + dogs on leashes okay + playground area + sculptures throughout + shaded sitting areas + splash pad (there were two of them, but only one was operable that day) + terraces + walking paths + water fountains + nearby pedestrian bridge + The Little Rock monument near the bridge Parking was $3 per hour for 8 hours maximum - enforced 24/7. The kiosk accepted coins or card payment only.

Pinnacle Mountain State Park is a nice place to to spend your day doing hiking and it's only about…read more20 minutes from downtown Little Rock. I spent a few hours hiking on one of the more difficult hiking trails and it was a great experience! The trail was clean and well labeled, but the only difficult part was locating the same trail markers going down the mountain, especially since there are so many rocks and boulders throughout the entire terrain so it was very easy to miss several trail markers on the way down. I love that the state park offers a variety of trails and difficulty levels, so whether you are a beginner hiker or a more experienced hiker, you are bound to have a good time. I enjoyed the trail and the experience of doing some rock climbing, and if I'm ever in the area again I will definitely come back!

For context, we were told there is a "hard" side or an "extra hard" side to hike LOL. We chose the "hard" side. You do need some moderate physical fitness - a good portion of the "trail" was just spray-painted yellow marks on large rocks and boulders you have to climb. But we did it all in under 2 hours? Great views from the top, and there is a wonderful playground in the middle of the parking lot too! What a unique and fun experience. Honorable mention: we saw a raccoon in a Christmas sweater.

In fact it didn't interest my big kids all that much. There wasn't a "can we go back to the other park?" It was, "we're going back to the other one. Bye, Mom." Lol. Just a reminder parents, please teach your kids to pick up their trash right before you leave. It's good for them and helps us all enjoy the park much more. It is named after Margaret Clark in appreciation of her longtime commitment to children and her interest in Riverfront Park. Her husband William E. Clark, has a wetlands park, down the street from this one by the Clinton Library, that is dedicated to him as well. It is very nice and welcoming. You know you have found the park when you see the twin sheep sculptures, Bliss and Glee, which are the work of Giuseppe Palumb. The park also has a hippopotamus sculpture named Roundbottom, that serves double duty as a bench. It is the work of Tim Cherry. The park opened in 2018 and still looks relatively new. It was designed for children ages 2-5 and is on artificial grass and mud free rubber surface. The park appears to have a nature theme and has a bank of traditional/toddler swings, rocks to climb, percussion instruments, bridges, slides, stand and spin, and a spinning cone climber. The slides are small and there is not much there as far as equipment goes, so I do not see the park entertaining kids much older than 5. It is a nice park though and well maintained. I have no issue with them catering to pre-school kids because sometimes the littles get over run over and pushed to the side by the big kids at other parks. This is not a destination park, but it is nice spot to visit if you are in the area with little kids and some time to kill.

The park was expanded in 1937 for WWII training and that one is called Camp Robinson. Some remnants of that activity still exist and there are warning signs everywhere about unexploded ordinance. So that's pretty awesome. Renamed in 1950 after local physician William Burns, the park has all sorts of outdoor activities including soccer fiends, tennis courts, TWO golf courses, basketball courts, a disc golf course, baseball fields, trails, picnic areas and picnic pavilions. There are a few public restrooms throughout the park and it is linked to an RV Park and Campground. They even have an Arkansas River boat launch! We were here for the covered bridge and found it, but that is separate. In the meanwhile, it was nice to wlak around the park, sticking to the trails. The warning signs were plenty warning for us! They have the old metal slide with complementary swings, a new skate park, baseball field, there's a basketball court under the interstate, and a water reserve (according to my complex managers) that goes next to the park. It's pretty nice for being run down. Bad news: The walking trail. There are a few things you notice: first, the smell. It's slightly covered up by the flowers that are blooming but the closer you get the more you can smell it. Next the white stuff all over the ground. What in the world could it be? Obviously it wouldn't be from a sewer, right? Then you see the sign. It's somewhat hidden and small, but you see it. "Notice of Sanitary Sewer overflows which may occur at this location Please avoid contact with this sanitary sewer facility during an overflow condition due to the possibility of adverse health effects until cleanup can be completed. For additional information Contact: (501) 688-1490". Yes. Sewage overflow INTO A PARK RIGHT NEXT TO THE RESERVES. I'd avoid it simply because it's a health issue. Well, on the west side of the park at least. They don't even bother cleaning it up.

The dog park is a little hidden. Enter through the east gate nearest the golf course. Make the first right toward the shady tree area. The sign says volleyball but it's not. It's a one way. It's a nice dog park though and the people are friendly.

It's right next to the river which is great for taking my German Shepherd to fetch tennis balls out of the water. Met lots of friendly people and their dogs. It would be nice if the park had more grass. Seems to be more dirt and pebbles. Definitely has a decent amount of shade for hot summer days. Has plenty of benches and picnic tables to sit at. We stayed at the watering hole most of the visit. My boxer enjoyed laying in the pool to cool off. It's nice to have a place for my pups to get some interaction with other dogs and meet some nice people. Hopefully I'll be making this a regular visit.
