    Rocky hike east summit
    Victoria J.

One of my favorite hikes I have done is the east summit. Stunning views and a very challenging hike. My dog was able to complete most of the hike but did have to carry her down some of the more challenging rocks. They have kayaking and paddle boarding as well for rent via kiosk. They no longer rent canoes. It was pretty pricey (about $65 for a 2 person kayak for the day). Overall a great time.

Went hiking up the mountain and it was a great trail. I don't have much experience hiking so I can't compare it to much, but it was very nice. There were separate trails to take that were different difficulties, it wasn't littered, and there were a few benches along the way to stop and relax. The views were great and it wasn't very challenging to get to the top, though it was exhausting. Many stone steps along the way as well as you move up the first half.

This was another recommendation from my coworkers here in LR. It's a beautiful state park with multi use trails (for hiking, mountain bikers, etc). There is a visitor's center with a nice scenic overlook of the river. There is a "hard side" and "easy side." Since I wasn't familiar with the area, I took an "easy" trail. If you're (visiting from outside the area) looking for a harder route, make sure to map the directions to Pinnacle Playground. I took the Lower Trailhead and went up the Coachwhip Trail and down Middle Mountain- Carnasaw. I wish there had been more trailmarkers along the route, as it was quite a ways around the Coachwhip trail, and it was getting pretty late in the evening. Despite it being a hot day, the shade provided a cooler hike for me. Make sure to bring bug spray! Oh, and I hear hiking up to the summit to see the sunrise and/or sunset is a must! I can only imagine how stunning it is!

    Go before sunset :)

Super easy trail with stunning views! My husband and I went right before the sun was setting so we were able to get the best of both worlds! We got to the peak and enjoyed the beautiful views. The trail is super easy and can be done with little ones as well. Being the daredevil my husband is, we decided to go off trail a little and climb some rocks to get up the mountain. If you're feeling a little adventurous...I say go for it too!

I hiked from the visitor center to the Rocky Valley Trail to the scenic overlook via the East Quarry Trail. Two hours in 95 degree humid weather but it was worth the view at the end. It rained the night before so the trail was very wet (creek-like) in many parts. I suggest a hiking stick (I nearly slipped and fell a couple of times) if you go after it rains. A very pretty place For a hike. Well worth the drive from Little Rock and it

So first stop entering Pinnacle Mountain is Parks on lower level of trails and fishing area . Family stop for kids!!! Yes! Very nice water and nice Bathrooms and play ground kids will enjoy! Then we got back in car to drive to gift shop & visitor center ! A easy walk up low steps up , up,up, easy steps up! easy for handicap elderly friends with cane. Yes we walked a trail that started out concrete then moved into shaded wilderness watch for rocks , not a great walk for couch lovers but try it you may love it! I wish the dog lovers would have picked up the poop along the path, I just told my kids "probably wild wolves " beautiful breath taking rock formations steep up but fun trails. beauty to your sight; silence and relax into a meditation!

My favorit place in Arkansas!!I have done to hike both East and West side!!I totally recommend West side for people who hike there first time!!

Cool place with amazing views. It was more challenging than I anticipated. Indeed, the initial signs states "strenuous walking" and towards the end, you'll find yourself basically navigating over rocks. It took longer to get back down since you had to balance yourself on the rocky trail. Nevertheless, it was a fun challenge that definitely provides some cardio. People of all sorts (children to seniors) were found on this trail so I think a novice could attempt this if there are no medical concerns. The trail was not too long and it can be done within 1.5-2 hrs round trip. I came on a weekend and it was quite crowded (this was soon after the New Years so perhaps many were fulfilling resolutions). Thus, I had to utilize the overflow parking lot across the Hwy 300.

I totally turned my back on any touristy attraction in Little Rock, and decided instead of the presidential library, (which I still want to see), after discussing Little Rock with locals here on Yelp, chose to spend an afternoon at pinnacle Mountain State Park. I turned on my Garmin, and drove up Pinnacle Valley Road, and knew I was close to the mountain, cause my ears were popping. Always a good sign. I never, ever turn down visiting mountains if I happen to be in the area. This isn't only a mountain, it's a huge park area. It has over looks, and trails, shelter houses, and a very nice area for viewing the Arkansas River. I hiked up to the lower summit, and got concerned I'd get lost going back to my rental car. Rental cars bring terrible anxiety to me. The trails, atleast the one I walked on has wooden "steps' in place, in walkable distance of each other. The trail is marked with signs, but I still think, if you are alone, it's easy to get lost. The trail goes all the way to the top of the mountain. Plus, I don't have a water bottle....note to self, next time... I do plan on returning to this, and Mount Ida, which is near Hot Springs. I want my son to see this, and we can go up to the top of the mountain together. I'm a so so so glad I visited Pinnacle Mountain State Park, other than the coolness of the entire park, I had no idea that there were mountains here. Seriously, the air is the cleanest between here and Denver on Estes Peak. I walked the base trail, which took a long time, up to a set of rocks, and stopped. I love to climb mountains, and this one is no different. I saw alot of people with dogs, and kids. At the over look area, you can ride paddle boats, uh, a bit cold now, but maybe not. I'm not that far that I can't drive down here, spend a few nights a visit the mountains in this area, and I intend to do just that.

If you're a fan of hiking and find yourself in Little Rock, you should probably stop here. The most popular trail is the summit trail, and its definitely worth the climb up to the top. The views of the surrounding and the city is pretty breathtaking! The trail is pretty tough, there are some boulders and ledges, but is doable in 1-2 hours. Stay adventurous!

This place was great! Pretty well marked trail. I wasn't expecting the rock climbing (not sheer of course) near the top. It was a good workout for me. The view at the top was spectacular. Very windy on top, so expect to be windblown. Bring water if it's hot out. We went in the evening in April and were still thirsty by the time we were done. Watch out for the poison ivy. It's healthy up there!

This place is beautiful peaceful and relaxing along with breathtaking views and moments

    Faith M.

The climb is a good workout, but the view at the top is worth every bit of it! Even the easiest trail may be difficult for some because it can be steep at times, but bring good shoes and plenty of water and you will have a great time! Absolutely beautiful.

The ranger was very informative and helpful. The West Summit was difficult (summertime), but doable. Definitely recommend in cooler weather.

There were marks on trees during the hike that were red, white and yellow, but I had no idea what those meant. Maybe this part of town is less touristy and more locals, because people had set up hammocks, and all of their things that they needed for the night/day around the waterfall after the hike. I spoke to a sweet man and woman on a golf cart who seemed to work there, as they were going around and changing papers for the reservations for there were trailers in the parking lot, and they advised us on where to go and park. They did advise us that if you go on the trails, if you go towards the left, the hike is shorter and it's about a 1/2 a mile, and if you go towards the right, it's about a mile and a 1/2 Which is a great tip because, of course, we wanted to take the shorter route. We had a toddler and an elderly person with us, and so we did not want to do a strenuous hike. This hike was just enough for us to feel better adventurous, and like we accomplished something when we got to the falls. The falls were beautiful, and the water looked gorgeous. Although, I did see later on another app, that a lot of times sewer water gets into the falls. Unfortunately, we had decided to take a dip even though we didn't have swim suits just because it looks so refreshing but it's just something to keep in mind. Overall, we would definitely come here again! It looks like a great place to bring lunch and hang out and eat after a great hike!

Hot Springs National Park was one of the most unique parks on our journey because it is unlike any other national park we have visited. Rather than protecting vast wilderness, this park preserves the history and natural thermal springs that gave birth to the city of Hot Springs. For centuries, people believed the mineral-rich waters had healing properties, and during the late 1800s and early 1900s, the area became one of America's premier spa destinations. The beautifully preserved Bathhouse Row is a reminder of that era, with historic buildings that still define the character of the park today. The park itself blends seamlessly into the city, making it feel less like a traditional national park and more like a living historic district. Personally, I see it as being closer to a national monument than the expansive wilderness parks most people picture when they think of the National Park System. But that doesn't diminish its value, it is simply a very different experience. I spent quite a bit of time hiking the surrounding trails, which were peaceful, scenic, and offered beautiful views over the town and the Ouachita Mountains. It was a pleasant surprise to discover how much nature surrounds the historic district once you begin climbing into the hills. The town itself is charming, full of history, unique architecture, good restaurants, and an easy pace that invites you to slow down. Between exploring the bathhouses, learning about the fascinating history of hydrotherapy in America, and enjoying the trails, we found there was plenty to fill a full day. Overall, Hot Springs National Park is beautiful in its own way. It may not offer towering mountains or dramatic wilderness, but it preserves an important chapter of American history while still providing opportunities to enjoy nature. It is certainly worth visiting with an open mind and an appreciation for both history and the outdoors.
