No wake area, perfect for kayaking! Mirror lake rentals is inside the park, so you do need to get a state park pass for your vehicle. It is $10 a day, or $35 for the entire year. It is recommended that you book in advance if you are a large group, as the kayaks seem to be limited. It is a very popular place, as the scenery changes dramatically. The lake its' self is rather small, but is connected to windy rivers that are lined by orange cliffs. There is a nice mixture of shaded areas, as well exposed sunny areas. There are many beaches to pull up onto, and a dam at the end of the course. The lake is very friendly for beginners and experts. Kayaks are $10 an hour or $25 for a half day. It takes about 2 hours to get to the dam and back, more if you go casually and like to stop a lot like we did! read more

This place is beautiful, my husband and I rented a Pontoon for a full day. Was cheaper than any boating rentals & it's a no wake lake (don't have to worry about running into any water sport riders). We wanted to relax and do some fishing, the sandstones are simply awesome. We rented on a Tuesday when the weather was in the low 70's (hubby still got sunburned), absolutely wonderful day. We didn't catch any fish but really didn't try, just relaxing most of the day by driving the pontoon all around the lake. If you have the time and the cash, check out Ishnala Restaurant, located on Mirror Lake, it over looks the lake, ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. Jackie was very helpful and a pleasure to work with. We got there as soon as they opened, paid for the State Park fee and continued on to the boat rentals. Cons: Weedy (just like any other lake) you may have to pull weeds off the motor. Our group of 7 girls up from Chicago for a Wisconsin weekend picked pontooning as our Saturday afternoon activity. The leader of our pack made a reservation for a pontoon for 2 hours. She actually had to push back the reservation because we were running late and Mirror Lake Rentals was very accommodating. We arrived at Mirror Lake State Park and had to pay to get into the park. It was kind of a bummer that we had to pay extra since all we were doing was pontooning but I am all for supporting state parks. We followed the directions and signs and quite easily found Mirror Lake Rentals. When we first arrived there were no spots available in the very limited parking lot, but luckily after our moment of "oh no, what do we do now" a group left and two spots opened up. We walked down to the office/shed to check in and pay for our rental. The woman helping us out was friendly and patient with our large group. She then directed us to the dock and Jim who helped explain how the boat works and the rules of the lake and we were off. Mirror Lake is a relatively small lake, but was perfect for our 2 hour adventure. The lake wasn't ever really crowded, but there was always lots of activity, between other boats, canoes, kayaks, and swimmers and cliff jumpers. We went down one of the sections of the lake and just hung out enjoying a beautiful sunny day on the water. On the way back we dropped anchor and jumped in the lake. It was cold at first, but warmed up after treading water for a bit. Before we knew it, it was time to hop back on the boat and head towards the dock. This is definitely a place I would come back to for some fun outdoor activities in the Dells area. read more

I am in love with this place! We try to go every year. It's beautifully calm and the name doesn't lie; there is an incredible reflection off the water of the surrounding woods. It has channels and a large open area. They get busy-so get there early! They buy new kayaks every year so the equipment is trustable and comfortable. There is also a beach within walking distance by the campsites for swimming. Staff is small to keep prices down I imagine, so expect a short wait if it's busy-worth it! read more

9-24-16 my wife and I visited Mirror Lake to rent kayaks for the afternoon; Cody was attending the rental concession. Cody has helped us in the past. Cody is extremely helpful, at one point he jumped into the waist deep water to stabilize the kayak while we entered the boat. Cody shares his knowledge to the lakes sentry a kayaking in general. Ok. I don't know if the lady behind the desk was in a bad mood or what...but she seemed disinterested and rude. I asked her which direction would be the best to explore on a kayak (there are multiple directions that you can go from the boat launch), and she didn't really know and just replied, "most people go that way." I asked if that way was north (there was a map at the desk) and she also did not know. The first kayak I was given was broken (foot peg could not be adjusted at all), and my friend's had a puddle of water in it. The lifejackets were old and smelled nasty. The kayak that replaced the broken one for me was fine. They are really basic kayaks, no lid for your gear or anything like that. As for pricing, it is $13 an hour or $30 for 4 hours. I think this is overpriced for what you are getting (for example MKE Kayak company [not in the area, but still] charges $25 for 4 hours and they are super friendly and have really nice equipment, plus are knowledgable about the area). I do want to say the the lake itself is beautiful and we did have a good time, but the service from this place was not up to par at all. I probably wouldn't go back here based on the service experience I had, but would consider kayaking through a different company or bringing my own (if I had one). read more

A group of ten of us went out for a canoe trip... Cons: --Parking was surprisingly limited. Our convoy of vehicles had to send a couple cars back to our campsite and shuttle people back and forth. --Without a reservation, the process of getting our hands on multiple canoes to rent was very disorganized. It was conveyed to us that we would have to basically fight for the ones that come in. Pros: --The Lake was great. We were debating whether to canoe at Devil's Lake or Mirror Lake and we were glad we chose this one. Once we made it out, it was worth it. The lake leads into a lazy river surrounded by sandstone bluffs. --Towards the end of river, just before you reach a dam, we found a nice psuedo-beach area to dock at, relax, and have a few beverages before heading back out. read more

We rented a kayak at $15 for one hour. The man working when we went was very friendly. FYI, if you want to take your kayak north up by the Green Owl, you don't have to stop at the dam. We thought that was the end, but we found out you can take it up to the shore on the left and then walk the kayak down some stairs and keep going. read more

This is a perfect no-wake lake!! We rented a canoe and had a great time. The woman who assisted us was very helpful and patient with us first-timers. We had a fantastic time and will probably do it again next time we are in the Dells. Very affordable too. We really liked the fact that the lake is no-wake, so we weren't worried that we'd tip the canoe. It was so peaceful and a nice change of pace from the waterpark we stayed at. read more

Just beautiful. Took the kids there to try kayaking & paddle boarding. The boys, 20 & 15 started with the kayak and my 17 year old daughter nervously started with the paddle board. But since it is a no wake lake, she was up & feeling confident in no time. That is until the boys decided to tip her of course. It was great because my husband & I were able to sit on the pier & watch them and they were able to jump in & out of the water taking turns on the kayak & paddle board. Everyone was extremely nice, from the employees to the fellow boaters. I'd go back tomorrow. read more
