Dr Gupta is always there when needed…read more As I read some of these terrible reviews, I realize that MOST folks are complaining about the Cost. COST??? I`ll mortgage my home to get relief from dental pain!

Let me tell you about my experience with Shore Endodontics, especially if you are considering going…read morethere because you are in pain and need a root canal or re-root canal. I was referred to Shore Endodontics and was initially very happy that they could see me right away. I waited about 45 minutes, which honestly did not bother me because I was grateful to get an appointment so quickly. While sitting in the waiting room, however, I overheard numerous phone conversations with patients that sounded remarkably similar: insurance would only cover a certain amount, leaving an out-of-pocket cost of around $1,400. When I was seen, I was told I needed a re-root canal and would have to come back another day for the procedure. I received an X-ray and a prescription for an antibiotic, paid $345 for the visit, and left. My estimated out-of-pocket cost for the procedure was also approximately $1,400. Something about the experience did not sit right with me, so I decided to get a second opinion from another local endodontist. I had to wait about three weeks for the appointment, but that endodontist performed the re-root canal during that same visit. My out-of-pocket cost? $200. Then, to make my experience with Shore Endodontics even more frustrating, I later received an additional bill for $139 on top of the $345 I had already paid for my original visit. I have now paid that remaining bill, but I am sharing my experience because I believe patients should know they have options. When you are experiencing serious dental pain, you are vulnerable and understandably want treatment as quickly as possible. Based on my experience, taking the time to call another endodontist saved me a significant amount of money. I cannot speak to anyone else's insurance coverage or individual circumstances, but the difference between what I was quoted at Shore Endodontics and what I ultimately paid elsewhere was significant enough that I believe it deserves to be shared. I would also welcome a closer review of their billing practices. If you are quoted a large out-of-pocket amount, get a second opinion. I am extremely glad I did.
