I needed a drive belt for my lawn mower and after being fobbed off and messed around by many internet companies, a quick chat to Charlies staff and they had the correct belt ordered and delivered to the store within 4 working days - far quicker and massively cheaper than anyone else could do it for. Unfortunately there are not many Charlies stores about (generally located in Mid Wales and the West of the West Midlands). However, do not fear as they now have an excellent web site found at: http://www.charliesdirect.co.uk/ Their garden equipment section is especially well presented with a variety of equipment from cheaper brands (such as Bosch), to more specialised brands (such as Stihl), all at quite reasonable prices. Despite the type of shop things are well laid out, and the shop is kept pretty tidy. A lot of their products are budget brands - so figure that in, and not everything is cheaper than you would find it elsewhere, but its great to kill an hour or two, and you are sure to come away with something you didn't know you needed.

The store has some good bargains, and can knock pounds off some stock compared to ther shops. The shop sells everything from furniture, to knitting wool, to bottles of pop to nappies. The store has the new style baskets on wheels, the only problem with these is that when you get to the till you have to lift the basket up, not always practical. The staff are friendly, not always very knowledgable about products and product location. This store is ideal to visit for christmas shopping.

She arrived at about 13:30, to find they had run out of any hot food, and there was a solitary motley sandwich, and small yogurt pot that might satisfy a 3 year old. I suppose their "get out of gaol free card" is: subject to availability. This sort of thing does more damage to a company's reputation than not offering something for free. I suppose the old maxim still holds true: "There's no such thing as a free lunch." :-)

At it's peak it was a proper department store with concessions selling musical instruments, computers, and all of the other things you would associate. It now carries perfumes and cosmetics, clothing, and a small homeware section. The perfum section competes poorly with the likes of Superdrug and the Perfume Shop, and the homeware section contains such a limited range of goods that the local Tesco eclipses it in usefulness. The restaurant is merely average, with no outstanding features.

The price is average with much of the stuff available cheaper if you shopped around but you get a good deal on the bath items. The shop is what it says a hardware shop, the shop sells everything from nuts for birds, to ladders to gas calor heaters. Everything you could possibly need is in this store. The staff are really helpful, and extremely knowledgeable, and will advise you where necessary. Highly recommend this store to everyone.
