Hello Yelp friends! We went to Lakeshore this time, in Arizona, to help our daughter get supplies for her summer camp. They had all the paint and paper she needed. She needed the big gallon jugs. She also opted for the huge roll of white paper and saved a bunch of money. The girls working were not only super friendly, but they were so knowledgeable and helpful. I shop at Lakeshore in Nevada a few times a year. When they have sales, specials, coupons, and when I'm prepping my room for the new school year. I love the variety and quality of the items they carry. I was excited for the deals we got with the 50% off coupon code online on the website. It is a buy one, get one 50% off. Think of Lakeshore as an upgraded toy store. They're playing to learn and it's great. For teachers, librarians, and anyone going "wth do I buy for my friend's kids birthday?" (me). Well, I quoted them word for word what my friend said her child loves and they pointed me to their interactive musical toys. I ended up buying a DJ Turntable for baby! His father is a DJ so it's perfect. Staff is very helpful! They were out of them the day I was there but told me when more would be delivered. When I returned on the date, they grabbed it from the back straight out of the delivery box. Great service. read more

This is a solid place for the basics of teaching necessities, but man... the prices aren't for budget teachers. I'd say that their competitors are typically a little cheaper (and check out Dollar Tree for a solid selection, too!). For example, their silly hand board pointers are $3.50 at Lakeshore and $1 at Dollar Tree. Even single pencils are $.50 each. Just too pricey for my taste. I'm not a border and bulletin board (for cuteness) teacher. It has to be appealing, but purposeful. I would never buy cut-out letters, so I suppose if you love that, this place would fit the bill. Just bring your credit card. (Again, Dollar Tree first, then Teaching and Learning Stuff are better physical stores, IMO). Amazon for the rest. read more

I visited Lakeshore Learning on a Sunday. Now that in itself deserves three stars. I loved that I didnt't have to spend any of my Saturday getting ready for Monday. Then, my rating increased by two when I was greeted and assisted while finding the items I needed. The lady working that day was so helpful and pleasant. Ugh. I tend to avoid this store. Usually I do my "teacher" shopping at Utah Idaho Supply when I am home over the summer visiting family. However, today I failed to buy enough bulletin board border and needed to attempt to find the same matching design. Lakeshore had it for three dollars more. I bought it. I was not going to drive 600 miles back to Utah Idaho Supply but I groaned. The store is clean. The employees are nice. I just wish they were not so overpriced on EVERYTHING. read more

Lakeshore provides a wide variety of educational materials for preschool and elementary school children. The store is frequented by teachers, parents and the occasional grandparent. Caution. Lakeshore can be a bit pricey. There is always a coupon available, however, if you sign up for their weekly notices. On this day they were kind enough to allow us to use our smart phone coupon twice (buy one, get 50% off a second item) by dividing our four items into two transactions. Thoughtful. There are also clearance and sale items. In other words, you can reduce the cost from insanely expensive to just expensive if you pay attention. With so many unique items, expensive can seem pretty reasonable. read more

I love learning stores for educational toys/games/art supplies for the kids and this one does not disappoint. They have a large selection and the staff is friendly. Some items may be considered overpriced, like another yelper suggested they could just go to Wal-Mart for their pens, but that's expected. I, myself, am not a teacher but was shopping with a girlfriend who is. She shared the same sentiments about there not being much for a teacher who teaches outside of Elementary. Nonetheless, it's worth checking out. I also believe they offer a teacher's discount. read more

For primary teachers, this store has plenty of fun stuff that any teacher would love to buy (if they had endless amounts of money!) But as a middle school teacher, this place is lacking. I teach math, and the only poster I found was a perimeter & area poster. The lady at the store told me that was all they had. I tried to also find some new character education posters, but the only ones they had were geared towards 5 year olds with pictures of cartoon teddy bears. I was also surprised that they didn't have any of the "motivational" type posters. And why is this place so overpriced? If I needed to buy post-it notes or markers, I would walk the 200 yards down to Wal-mart and buy them for probably half the price that Lakeshore sells them for. read more

Laura (manager) and Margot (employee) went ABOVE & BEYOND to bring an extraordinary experience to the K-4 students at Foothills Academy College Prep Academy last week. Our school started a Read-athon on March 2nd, coinciding with Read Across America and Dr. Seuss's birthday. I contacted Lakeshore employee, Margot, the week prior and inquired if they had any ideas to help us mark the occasion and kick-off our fundraiser, Read to Feed (benefiting Heifer International). Arrangements were made for Laura to bring THE Cat in the Hat character to our school on February 28th. Laura and the costumed character, arrived as scheduled and stayed for at least 20 minutes while a teacher read a book to the 5 classrooms gathered and then shook all of the students' hands as they exited. It was a huge hit, most memorable and greatly appreciated. read more

I loved this store. I am not sure what the other reviewers were expecting, but I am glad to take the store for what it is and not what it is not. It has an amazing variety of educational toys. Having a child that required some OT and Speech therapy, I wish I had known about this place before. THere are so many items I could have gotten. I love that they have a free craft for kids 3+ every Saturday. Of course, they know you are not going to come out empty handed. I ended up spending about $60.00. I used my $5 check in coupon. Thank you, Yelp. They were so nice. They told me I could organize a craft day with my twin group. Can't wait to go back. read more

This teaching store is very well stocked and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful! It is somewhat expensive, that seems to be a theme for teaching stores, but right at this moment they are having a 20% off sale, so that mitigated a lot of the cost. read more

I can call her and email her exactly what I need and she goes out of her way to make sure we have everything we need, even as far as to take time to order products out of the catalog if it's not in the store. What a wonderful experience ! I came in the store the other day searching for some supplies for my 3rd & 4th graders and did i leave impressed. Clean store with many choices and an extremely helpful staff. The manger who's name began with L ( im getting older and losing my memory ha ha) was delightful as well as her staff. They helped me find the items i needed and even walked me out to my car and helped load up all the fun supplies for the children! I will be back and i will tell everyone to come. A+ customer service. This place should come with a warning. It is fabulous! I went for one present and ended up with a full cart full of educational games and toys. The prices are a little high, yet the products are unique and durable. You get what you pay for. If you sign up for emails, you get lots of discounts and coupons, which really help. As a teacher, I really look for presents that encourage imagination and promote thinking. I have also shopped online at their store and delivery is very quick. Excellent teaching supply store! They have goods for all ages - starting at baby. They offer lots of coupons so just ask how to receive them. If you go without a coupon, it could be pricey but there's really no reason that you can't have a coupon in hand. This is a great place to also buy learning oriented presents for any kid! read more

I would have to totally agree with Chrysty C....if you are looking for elementary supplies, this is a great place to shop. But if you teach middle school on up, this store really has absolutely nothing for you beyond things like bulletin board borders. I am totally bummed that I have yet to find a teacher supply store that has a good upper grade collection. read more

I traveled out of my way here today to check out their "fine motor" section and was happy I did! This store has a wide variety, great sales, and superb customer service. I will definitely be back as I wanted to continue browsing even after I left. I love this place! I am a new teacher this year and I could spend all day in here, as I have done a few times. They have countless resources for teachers and students. I initially came here for borders, decorations and other supplies but went back to buy resources that would help me align instruction to the state standards. There is such a wide variety to choose from and if you need any help the workers are extremely helpful and kind. They really go above and beyond normal expectations. Prices are not bad at all. The merchandise will add up, no doubt but overall you are getting a good deal in my opinion. If you sign up for their text alert, they send you a weekly coupon code on Thursdays that you can use at the store (maybe online too but not sure). read more
