Fred is the best! I threw out my back and was basically immobile. My friend advised me to see Fred - she said that he's amazing and helped both her and husband regain full mobility after shoulder and back injuries, respectively. Lakeside kindly helped me make an appointment despite Fred's very busy schedule. I hobbled to physical therapy, thinking that I would feel perhaps a little better. But just one session with Fred made the pain SIGNIFICANTLY less. One session with Fred provided more relief and hope than I anticipated. He patiently listened as I explained my symptoms and then knew exactly how to treat the pain. After having Fred provide treatment and exercises for a couple of months, I feel 100% back to normal. During my first visit I was realistic that Dr. Kim may not be able to straighten my knee that had been injured 7 months prior. At the time of the injury, I saw another therapist that was quite good and we made some progress, but my knee remained bent. Dr. Kim was honest that we would try a few techniques on a trial basis and if we didn't see substantial progress he would be the first one to say he couldn't help. By the fourth week my knee was straight. I saw him for an additional month to maintain the correction. Dr. Kim listened carefully each session and I felt like a team member in my recovery because he sincerely took into consideration what I was experiencing in between each session, and then explained how his treatment was addressing my symptoms. I came in with a shoulder injury that had kept me from working out for an extended time. Dr. Kim was great because that he explained exactly what he is doing while treating you. . Because he is an athlete himself, not only was he able to treat my injury, but he also game me some advice on how to be careful while working out in the future. Dr. Fred was amazing. He spends a lot of hands on time with you and actually listens. Masks are required at this business which is a huge plus for me for being in such close proximity to each other. The first place I went to was packed with people and the Dr. doesn't spend too much time on you and then passes you off to an assistant who uses a pulsating massager for the rest of your appointment. Fred is really awesome, he's such a great physical therapist. I found him personable and made the most of awkward situations-I had no idea that physical therapy could get so hands on. Haha. I had a lot of muscle tension that needed to be massaged out. I also really appreciated that he was honest about my condition and the amount of help he could offer me. Even though my spine surgeon recommended six weeks of physical therapy, Fred stopped at four because there wasn't much more he could do for me. That really showed me he was about patient care as opposed to money because he could've just taken advantage of those last two weeks. Anyway, this was my first experience with physical therapy. I injured my back playing sports (basketball mostly) My primary doctor told me that my back was like a 50 year old's back and all I can try is physical therapy for now. I've been suffering acute heel & ankle pain for the past 5 months and never even considered seeing a PT until a few friends recommended Lakeside PT in Mission Viejo. During my visit, Fred made sure I felt comfortable, he listened to what I thought was causing the pain, took some time to assess my walking stride, then helped me work out a plan to relieve the pain. After a couple new stretches and a deep tissue massage to relieve the built up tension in my foot/calf, my heel is already starting to feel better, which is amazing because I've literally tried everything from seeing doctors, podiatrists, massage therapists, trying new insoles (tried literally 4 different ones), new shoes, pain killers, etc. before even once feeling any relief. I'm not cured, but you can tell I'm thrilled to actually feel real relief for the first time in 5 months. I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis on my left leg several weeks ago. Went through all the doctor recommended meds and ice packs, but pain wouldn't go away. I was referred to Fred Kim of Lakeside Physical Therapy by my doctor and in two weeks I have been completely cured! No more pain, swelling, etc and I can walk and exercise freely now. Went in for my frozen shoulder; didn't expect much because prior experience with another PT on my other frozen shoulder. Wow, was I impressed! I've had a complex spine injury, and a number of related problems. After numerous procedures, injections, medical devices, and surgeries - I have found "good" Physical Therapy to be far better than any of the others in terms of pain reduction, no side effects, and better quality of life. Over 10 Years, I've had a number of Physical Therapists in a number of cities that I have lived in. I would have found Lakeside Physical Therapy ( and Fred Kim in particular ) to be as good as it gets. Their goal is to minimize the number of visits required to maximize your quality of life. As other reviews will attest - Fred REALLY takes his time to look at all of your history, your anatomy, and to create a plan of care custom to you. And then he ( Licences CPT ) actually spends tons of times working out [ not just handing you off to some intern like a lot of places you will find ]. If you are recovering from an injury, surgery, or just have some pain you wonder if you could improve - I couldn't recommend Fred and the team at Lakeside Physical Therapy more highly. They also have just started offering "deep tissue laser" treatments as well. I don't think those are covered by insurance, as it is an emerging technology that doesn't have the years of proven history required by most insurances for approval. For me - I explored a few places for this as well, and found Lakeside's prices to be very reasonable and their recommendations for use deliberate for when they believe it will be most beneficial. For me - it has definitely been helpful. So if you are considering "deep tissue laser" - I would recommend Lakeside for that as well.. read more

Dr. Kim is the best physical therapist in OC. He treated me after my car accident and got me better quickly. I remember a day where I couldn't get out of bed for 20 minutes due to extreme back pain but after he began treatment, I was able to move around with more motion the following day and under his care, I got back to 100%! I came to Fred with a foot injury (LisFrank fracture) caused at work by a forklift. Fred is very accommodating and very friendly. You get one on one time with the physical therapist himself for the whole time you're there. That isn't very common in this field. Usually your only with the PT for about 30 minutes and then go to an assistant for the rest of your treatment. I know this because my sister works in this field. I now have considerably more flexibility and mobility of my foot and toes thanks to Fred's expertise and because it's just you and him the whole time your in and out ASAP. read more

Although I was a little skeptical about being referred to a therapist that I didn't know, I was very pleasantly surprised by the degree of care and professionalism that I was offered and I will definitely go back to doctor Fred for any problem concerning my knee; that is certain.
