What I do recommend that I think is the major issue here is that if you know that the person has a large family please carpool over here because parking is limited and I had to see people park half a mile away or across the street to make their way into the funeral home.

We just recently used Theis Gorski for my dads funeral service. I have to say we were beyond…read morepleased with Milos and the crew every step of the way. We had some special requests to include some unique memorial cards and they came through. My dad who is a veteran was able to have a veterans honor which they did all the leg work setting that up and having current veterans there to present my mom with a flag. They had a beautiful video tribute with photos for my dad. And the best gift of all was how they prepared my father. He had been in the nursing home for the last two years but when we saw his body at the funeral home, he looked amazing. They had taken 5-7 years off of him and he looked natural, the way we remembered him and wanted to remember him. It was the best gift and blessing we could ask for. We unexpectedly lost my mother in law and since starting the process with them, they completely made the experience so much more bearable. The communication and understanding Chela provided was amazing. They provided us with all the information needed and helped us through all of our questions. That helped alleviate the pain making the process much smoother. We couldn't have chosen a better funeral home. Unfortunately sad to know that they know how to treat not appreciate their employees due to the arrogance of the owner Anthony. It looks like the place runs beautifully without his presence. If it would have not been for all of Chela help along with Becky I guarantee we would have gone with our option 2. Parking is a hit or miss. The parking space is limited behind the building so you may have to park on the street or walk from the baseball field. My beloved son, Quinn died last Wednesday at the age of 30. From the moment I called Barr and spoke with Tim, I knew I had absolutely nothing to worry about in making my son's final arrangements. My boy died in Minnesota. Tim, without a second thought, drove all day to go collect my boy and bring him back to Chicago. Tim, with great care and compassion took care of every detail. He guided my family and myself with such care. During the wake and funeral mass, Tim stood vigil with us, keeping his eye on all goings on, quitely in the background, ensuring all were talking care of and that events went smoothly. I realized at the tour this was not the facility I wanted to use so I asked the owner how the body would be transferred to the home I did want to use to which he informs me " oh we don't have the body" I was shocked. I was not informed his body was never picked up. In fact the day he passed he informed me his body would be picked up. Months later I attend a funeral for a friend and we were waiting for the ashes for the mass. I was asked to call to see the ETA so I called and the answering service said " Tim is on vacation, he says their is a miscommunication." HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN!!!! Do not use them.

Her service was held in the room that's used to relax and watch service videos which is right next door to office and the only thing that separates the room from the office was a huge curtain that remained slightly opened. See, that wasn't what bothered me, what bothered me was the fact that they continued business calls during the 1 hour that was given to us because of the Covid to grief her passing. Only 10 people are allowed for 1 hour because of the Covid19 pandemic which we completely understand. All of us came with masks and gloves to protect ourselves and the staff because my family is responsible during this pandemic. I just can't get out of my mind that while we were praying the rosary and when the priest came to say a prayer we could all hear the phone going off and a full conversation about other services that where going to take place. I felt total disregard and disrespect durning our last goodbyes to our beloved family member. I wish I could say this only happened once. It happened during the whole hour we were there. I just can't believe they couldn't hold off 1 hour of business to respect our time. Disgraceful. I will NEVER recommend this place, because after any years of business in this type of industry you must not lose empathy for people and the loss of their loved ones.

This funeral home is nice but very simple as far as decoration. It seems like they got stuck in a time warp from the 70's. With its paneled walls and carpeting. Although still a bit dark for my taste. They do have lamps all around, but I think that makes it seem older. Most of the wakes I have come to here are from the neighborhood. Older Polish families, but with the influx of Latinos, times are a changing. I like the fact that although parking lot is small, its still can hold at least 30 cars which of course is not bad. The service was simple, they put snacks in the kitchen (which also is a bit on the older side), and well what else can I say. Would I have my own family for a service here? Ehhh, probably not, but it is simple and I am sure inexpensive. I asked my friend (yes we have a pretty good relationship that I can ask), if her family spent a lot here. She stated the reason they had it at this particular home is because their prices are compatible. But there you go.

We were very close to him and this was very emotional and difficult to do. We had never had to plan services and didn't know where to begin. We visited a few other locations in the area and were greeted in a very "business" manner. Although we were trying to fulfill our uncles wishes by planning ahead, some of the nearby funeral homes refused to discuss options in detail or show us caskets because he had not passed away yet. Despite my sister having legal documents to prove she was his power of attorney, one gentleman in particular told us that one of my uncles siblings had to be present to make arrangements as that was his next of kin. We left the location feeling very disrespected and disappointed. Im glad we left because upon entering Modell we were greeted by Mari. Our experience from that moment on was one we will never forget. She was very helpful, compassionate and patient. She took her time to show us around, answered our questions and never once did she question our intentions. She allowed us to pick out every detail without asking us for a dime. We then met Gloria and we felt right at home. My uncle ended up passing away later that week and we were glad were able to plan ahead. I can't imagine making arrangements during those difficult times. All in all I have much respect for this place and all of its staff. My uncles services were perfect and Gloria did such an amazing job with his makeup. Modell is family owned and we were treated like family from the moment we walked in, to when they picked up his body at the hospital, to the moment he was laid to rest. Im thankful for their team and I highly recommend their services.
