SUCH an awesome place to camp over July 4 weekend... i highly…read morerecommend it to everyone! just be early birds like us and find out the first day you can call and reserve for this holiday weekend, note your calendar and just call and do it :) am glad i took my coworker's advice and reserved at this place... she had told me that they have an amazing fireworks show there (not presented by Lake Mayfield Resort and Marina, but by neighbors near by and maybe the town of Mossyrock?)... she was so right! this campground is very clean and well kept. we liked walking across the boat-dock and over to the little island next door as well and up to the lighthouse. the bathrooms were so clean! in all my years of camping, these are some of the nicer bathrooms we have ever seen - it's so sad that even state parks don't seem to keep up with private campgrounds! the saturday night dance was cool too and looked like fun for the whole family. having an on-side store was great too and considering they're a campground, the prices at the store were surprisingly reasonable! kind of bummed that the restaurant was closed, but apparently it is re-opening in 2020. they had a taco truck there though (**very smart**) - we never tried it but heard good things from camp-neighbors. i highly recommend this place.

We had been coming here year after year. In 2025 we arrived with a large group.... there was…read moregarbage everywhere and in big piles the entire time we were there. We had to ask them to remove the pile by our cabin (Oar House) to avoid the bees and nasty flies everywhere. And garbage piles were not in just 1 place, it was horrifying. So we decided to drive up before our next big group visit.... the place was definitely cleaned up. BUT, they have a new restaurant and bar on site, if we stayed at the Oar House again we would get to sit next to a full bar with beer garden and an air vent that is so loud you can talk to each. The island is closed. The bar is not apart of RV instyles, so dealing with loud drunk people and people driving back and forth is not appealing, not a relaxing vacy on the lake. We cancelled in plenty of time. It is September and I still have not recieved my full refund from June. My group ALL of them have experience issues with getting money back when their policy is 100% refund. I think they just changed it to non-refundable, that would be because they are losing regular customers. THey just simple ignore you, I even received an unavailable to email them too. My advice, DO NOT GIVE your money to them, you will not get it back, they will avoid you. It is so sad because I use to love coming here with family and friends. We wil still come to Lake Mayfield, just not here!

The only thing that was really different from any other hotel, is that there is a slots gaming room in the lobby and a casino right next door. The staff was decent at check in, however, they gave us no information about anything the hotel had to offer. They gave us the directions to the elevator to get to our room and that was it. The food that was available next door was okay, but very greasy. The employees at both coffee shops within the hotel and casino, do not know how to make espresso drinks very well, if at all. The room was nice, spacious and clean. The bed was decent and they did give you two complimentary waters in the fridge. They also had an abundance of dogs on the premises. It did not seem as though they do a very good job separating the rooms that animals are allowed in vs. not allowed in. The air vent in the room made a very loud noise that was pretty annoying when trying to sleep. The hotel was overall I say 3 stars. There was good and bad. I wouldn't necessarily choose it at a place to go again, unless I had to go to the area.

I ordered the Thai chicken wings, and they were absolutely delicious. The sauce was full of flavor, and the wings were not skimpy at all--large, meaty, and very satisfying. There were about six wings, and I couldn't even finish them all. The French onion soup was impressive--not basic at all, with a more elevated, "fancy" flavor profile. The salad was fresh, crisp, and well prepared. You can definitely tell there's a good chef in the kitchen. Our server, Maria, was excellent--very kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere was very quiet ! If we ever pass through Chehalis again, this will definitely be a place we return to. Highly recommend giving it a try.

It was rather disturbing because you wonder what in the world is going on in the rest area when everything was so quiet? Not only do they need to change the eight hour rule in Washington state in general, but they certainly don't need to endanger the rest of us to arrest some creep.

The Maytown Safety Rest Area in/near Olympia was one of the rest area stops my family and I used…read moregrowing up when traveling out from northern Seattle west to the coast of Washington State or south to Oregon. It is a medium size rest area and the bathrooms can have fairly long lines as times, especially if one of the restrooms is being cleaned. Thankful they have more than one for each gender. For the most part is has been clean. The parking spaces have been easy to navigate in a small car (more recently) as well as the family minivan (when I was growing up). Outdoor grassy area(s) with picnic tables provide space to walk and/or eat while stopped. There is posted information near the restrooms that may be helpful on one's travels.

We went to the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds to go to the 2023 Garlic Festival…read more As far as the fairgrounds go I don't have any qualms with the space. Parking was relatively easy to get in and out of. There are colored zones to pay attention to so you know on which side you parked at. I don't know how well it's managed during an actual fair because I am more urban in that sense and would just as soon go to the fair in Puyallup but for festivals like the ine we went to it seemed to fit the bill nicely. The Garlic Festival itself has it's own Yelp entry which I have a review for from several years ago but that entry is listed as closed probably due to the festival being inactive during the pandemic. The festival has changed since I was last there. They have a lot of food with garlic, vendors selling garlic and other things you would see at a farmer's market but they also had a whole building at the fairgrounds playing up the relationship vampires have with garlic so there were a lot of vendors in this part of the festival that specialized in more Goth type art, gear and household decor (and more) which I really, really enjoyed. Forbidden Love was the name of this sector of the fair I believe. Yes, the Garlic Festival seems to bring in more attendees each year but it seems like the fairgrounds here are still a suitable place to have this size of festival.

There's a place that boasts a "Mega" Philly cheesesteak for $14, which I didn't think was mega and don't think was worth the cost. Maybe that was the mega part. That being said, it was a good cheesesteak. Not great, but good. This place does have good garlic fries. I had Uncle Joe's last year, they make their own sausages, which are very good, and they had great garlic fries. I think my favorite thus far is the Frying Dutch Girl. Other than food, there are livestock, chicken/ roosters, etc. There are rides (of course) notably a Ferris wheel which is good romantic excursion at sunset. The grandstand is where a lot of the product vendors are. A/C vendors, soap and beauty products (the Cocosheama booth stood out to me), cutlery from CutCo , Tupperware (I didn't realize that brand was still a thing), jewelry, etc. There is also a booth that has multiple businesses (Strong Tower painting & siding, Azurguard Roofing, Alpha Y La Omega landscaping and Bethel Remodel), she was super nice There are also Republican Party booths, a VA booth looking for signatures for a petition to reopen a closed location (I signed). There's a booth that educates in gun rights (it is helpful info) All in all, great fun. Hot days that are cooling down. Stop by.

Neil and Jody (The owners) are AMAZING! These guys are not just here to take your money and leave you to figure out the rest, they take you the full way, doting on you as if you're the only one who requires their attention, and trust me, you're not. This place as well as the Aerie Ballroom is SO popular because they have such amazing prices, courteous service, and a genuine love for what they do. I can't wait to have my nuptials here and I suspect amazing service that day - just as it has been all along!
