They'll have 5 people corner you and yell at you that you're going to die for a half hour if you say you only want to detox and leave. I didn't want to stay because I didn't have insurance and did not want to pay the out-of-pocket price for the 30 days (plus the facilities are run-down, bugs everywhere, and most of the staff are rude). They refused to let me sign up for insurance for a week (didn't have enough time with a computer to sort out my insurance mess and find coverage), and told me they refused to provide a ride home (Portland, ME). I only had a toxic ex that could give me a ride (all my family is out west, and I cut out toxic/using friends in Maine). They actually said yes twice, no twice afterward, said they would on my official discharge paperwork the day before discharge, and then gave multiple adament no's the day of discharge. I just said I would walk, they made me wait hours for my stuff, then last minute they said they could give me a ride all of a sudden. No chance for good-bye's to other clients I made friends with. Multiple staff said the place changed drastically ~1-2 years ago after they were bought out by a major corporation. They were super friendly/gave intimate care before, now you're just a number. If this is your only option, get sober. If you have options, don't go.

When I called Green Mountain Treatment the compassion, the warmth, the hope was instantly conveyed...and was so throughout the discussion about admissions. For a mother, father, brother, sister, friend who knows without recovery life on many levels hangs in the balance, this introduction was pure gold. And...I know from my son that when he called to make his arrangements, he received the very same reception. Truly, the campaign for anti-stigma is working. I heard it in my own ears. THANK YOU GREEN MOUNTAIN TREATMENT--thank you Eric and thank you Kayla--with all of this mother's (and family's) heart. Soon my son's journey there will commence--and agony is replaced with utter hope.

I live 800 miles away in the Alexandria Va area and stay in close contact with both John and the Laconia personnel that manage the facility and nurses that attend to John's direct medical care. I was concerned during the COVID period with some of the stories we heard about nursing homes ; but , Laconia did a great job of keeping people safe (both residents and staff). Laconia had good procedures in place and required that everyone follow them. John had some medical problems that he needed treatment for and the nurses would call me and let me know when things changed. On occasions when Laconia staff felt John should be seen at a hospital they would call me , and have him transported to the hospital. Laconia management would let the hospital know that I, as a family member, would likely be calling to check on John. I would call the hospital and with Laconia help ,developed a working relationship with the hospital staff and treating doctors. With regard to care I was very satisfied with the care John got , the Laconia nurses would follow closely what the hospital doctor would put in place. The Laconia procedures allowed for good discussions between myself, John, the Laconia nurses, and staff. Laconia also initiated Zoom calls which I was ask to participate in and did , so I could see the care givers , my brother and his progress. My impression of staff is very favorable. However; all large health care organizations need a mix of experienced people and young entry level people often ask to do menial tasks. Some of this group have not yet developed favorable communication skills. My brother had a problem with one entry level person , we discussed it with the Laconia management and it was immediately corrected. Many staff members have been there a long time and are both knowledgeable and dedicated and very easy to work with. William H

When I finished the first step of my recovery at the AdCare Rehab hospital in Worcester MA, I felt as if there was still a hole in myself that I needed help with. My wife helped me to find a place that could help me be the man I was meant to be... Several set of circumstances aside, I found The Riverbank House. At first I met the incredibly wonderful man Randy Bartlett.. The owner and administrater of The Riverbank House, Randy Bartlett immediately put out his hand and opened his heart to offer me the help I sorely needed to save my life. I became a resident of The Riverbank family in 2012. I remember being nervous all the way to Laconia from Worcester, MA. From the moment I arrived in Laconia and pulled my things from my car, Randy and one of my brothers in our lives destiny came outside to help me in to get settled in and introduced to my new family. The care and respect of my stay began from the moment I arrived. The guys in the house were immediate friends for life. 13 years later and I'm looking forward to a 4th of July weekend visit to Laconia. Our daily routine at the house from cooking, cleaning and working on our spiritual growth with each other, not a fine point of my search to find myself went missing. A day never passed without being given the attention to my recovery. Randy always took time out of his day to discuss the best philosophies of my life and my journey to open my mind and assist me on my journey to developing my spiritual being and finding my way to my relationship to God that was missing in my life... During my time at Riverbank I attended meetings in the house as well as the local community of recovery in Laconia... I was fortunate in that God brought men into my life, one gentleman became my sponsor for life despite the distance.. Another gentleman became a sweet hearted friend who shared his strength and vision to a happy life. God helped me find my way to The Riverbank House... Thank you Lord

I went in the middle of winter and was very disappointed because in the winter your pretty much stuck inside all day. We went on two outings a week and we pretty much did the same rotation of activities. I was most frustrated with the owner Randy he made it sound like Riverbank was the place to attend rehab and for the price that I paid is absolutely nuts when all they offer is the 12 step program when I last checked it was 100 percent free! They had no therapist and pretty much nobody except one person with any credentials. I met some good people there but was very disappointed that their online site and the fact that they did not offer half of what they said they do! Randy the owner recently relapsed and that kind of shows that this place is not what he says it is. Tod, Mike M. and Brian where very professional and great support! I would not recommend this place to anybody thinking of attending Rehab here!
