The teachers were loving, caring, and even gave us their cell phone #s when we left so we could keep in contact with them. There isn't high teacher turnover at that school, and most of the teachers were there for the three years that my daughter was. Creative World is not a typical pre-school, and it seems to be closer to a Montessori learning program. Kids learn by exploration and experimenting, and their Exploratorium allows them the opportunity to experience lots of different things. We only left because my daughter was starting kindergarten. If this location had a private kindergarten, we would've kept her there. After our first parent/teacher conference in kindergarten, we knew that Creative World had been the best place for our daughter. She was developmentally and academically ahead of the other students in her class, and I attribute that to the education and care she got while attending Creative World.

My kid asked why the teacher wouldn't come to our house at night "because she goes to that other kids house all the time!" I also had to explain what METH is because he told me the teacher has a kid (he is also in the class) but not a husband because the dad "loved meth more than he loved her". So yeah. Oh, and the building is pretty worn down and my son hates the food (and he's never complained about his school or daycare lunches before).

During that time, we noticed several concerning issues with the facility and how it's managed: * The building was often dirty, with visible flies and gnats in the kitchen. * The teachers seemed unprofessional, not maintaining personal cleanliness, and appeared more focused on babysitting than educating the children. * Children were frequently unstructured and sometimes left outside in very cold temperatures. * The staff rarely answered the phone and seemed generally lazy in their responsibilities. * The facility sometimes had unpleasant odors. Based on our experience, I'm honestly surprised the center is still open. I would caution parents and potential employees to carefully consider this before getting involved.

This was our last week after only 3 months in their care because it has been unbelievably bad and making multiple reports. I was expecting to talk to the Director about an injury that happened in their care and that's why I was recording. As I was about to leave, the fire alarm starting going off and since I already have issues with ALL of the teachers (minus infant teachers) I went back to see what my Daughters teacher would do. In the Twos room, this teacher was standing there. Frozen. Picked up a crying child and looked around. I stood at the gate watching her and that's when I asked if she knew what her fire drill was. SHE SAID NO AND THAT SHE HAD NO CLUE WHAT TO DO. A passing teacher says it is not a drill and I say that's my Point and why I was asking. I shopped around and interviewed 4 or 5 places in Lee's Summit before I found this gem…read more Wonderful staff, very responsible and caring. Small class sizes. After we checked out various places around town, my wife and I sat down to chat about it. We both picked this place as giving us the best "vibe" of any of the schools we looked at. Pricing is reasonable. There is a summer session as well if you are into that. My only minor beef, very minor, is that they follow the Lee's Summit schools if weather is "bad". They pretty much call off school at the drop of a hat in LS in my opinion. Additionally, the LS schools seem to have some kind of holiday or whatnot constantly. However, I'd assume most of the preschools are similar these days, so I can't really penalize Traditions for what is probably standard practice. Some of the larger daycares that I jokingly call "puppy mills" with zillions of kids are open more often and close less readily I think. Again, though, it is what it is, and I'd rather send my daughter to a higher quality place versus one where the schedule was slightly more convenient given the choice. We've been sending our daughter here for two years now and I can't think of any reason to consider anywhere else in the LS area. From what I can gather, other parents are equally happy with them. Over winter break, our kiddo was missing this place so much, she was carrying a backpack around asking us to play school with her. That's a good sign that your child is being treated well at school, when they can't wait to go back.

The environment the kids are in is a warm, caring one where the teachers know the children (and the parents and grandparents) well and build the children's confidence. They are so loving and have a diverse group of kids. My daughter loves ALL of the teachers and staff! They truly care so much for the kids. The education (very important to us) is outstanding..I am so amazed how well they teach the kids..they do a great job of preparing the students for the transition to elementary school..I feel like my 5 year old is ready for 2nd grade! The director is a beautiful person, inside and out..Lakewood Montessori is ran incredibly well; this is not true for every Montessori school.
