And we were actually the only people on the inside of the nature center, so we got to enjoy it in a peaceful environment. There were some field trip kids having event events outside. My grandson enjoyed exploring, but I was disappointed to see that quite a few of the displays were out of order. Also, I had to tell staff that there was a mouse in bird nature viewing area. A child had left a cracker, and apparently a mouse had gotten in was taking advantage of it! But then I went into the newer section with the displays and another mouse ran out and was running around the room towards my grandson. So I think they need to correct this issue before it gets too out of hand. The trails are great and the natural gardens are as well. They have some great programs for the community. I just think that some of the displays need to be fixed and taking care of the pest problem, I'm sure if they let the hawk in there he would handle it! lol

Sooner Olathe, I always return to this gym, and it's easy to see why…read more It's a nice gym with an in-the-round running track that got in the way of my workout - and others. But still a fun and cool concept. The YMCA of Olathe is unlike any other I've been to. We'll start with the positives. The employees here are really friendly and they let me right in without any real fanfare or hold up. I think it only took me 30 seconds to get past the front desk and that was that. They didn't ask for ID, I didn't have to show them my YMCA card, and they most certainly didn't make any phone calls. I really like that sort of trust. Most of the equipment here feels absolutely brand new, so even though some of the machines aren't my favourite (and seem like they're for kids), they all feel like they just bought them yesterday. It's a very clean shiny new facility, and everything is in perfect working order which is unusual for a YMCA. Now on to the negative stuff. There's not enough space in the workout room for all the stuff they have. They're missing a few important machines, but those that they do have are really bunched in together. At times I have to actually climb over different equipment to get to other equipment. There is no space. And they put the running track around the perimeter of the workout room. With no barrier whatsoever. So it's really not much of a running track although I don't run so it doesn't affect me personally. But whenever you step around the edges of the room you're actually walking into the running track. I can imagine there would be a bunch of collisions over the years if they keep it this way. Another negative is that their Cybex cable machine is a little bit too wide. And that they get busy and they don't have enough benches for everybody. If there are a bunch of people waiting for benches that's not a good thing. Not much space to use them in either. And they don't have big thick padded mats like they should have. There were some really friendly people as is the way in Kansas, but one guy actually marched over and took my stuff off my bench and said that he had been using it before me and had gone to talk to his wife. That's really bad gym etiquette on so many levels. Also the weights here are hexagonal rather than circular but I have discovered in my travels that it could be so much worse. The Wi-Fi works well when it works but then randomly stops working, which meant that I had to switch to my data. They don't have the bikes I really like but the ones they have here are pretty decent. Overall I would give them four stars. Now do you want to see the naked pix of me in the shower here? Yes? OK! Now? Olathe?

I was invited to their auction, Skylines and Sweets, and it was wonderful- although I was surprised it was a dry event. I think people bid more if they've been drinking too. ;) It was fun to learn about all that Camp Fire offers for kids and does for the community. And the auction items were wonderful- trips, experiences, jewelry, etc. I'll definitely attend their next event.

Our son was coached by an excellent swim instructor - our son needed to get ready for his scout swimming test. The Elite instructor had earned his Eagle Scout rank and he was the absolute best advisor and coach our son could have ever needed! Our daughter's middle name is probably "Elite" - she started gymnastics at age 4 and now she is a senior in high school. She has been part of the Elite Gymnastics family all of her life. They are a second family to us in every way. I have taught youth for 28 years, and I confidently believe: This fantastic gymn has the best team of efficient and caring mentors our children needed. The coaches expect the children to excel and encourage them effectively. Our children developed strong self-esteem and self trust while attending Elite Gymnastics and Aquatics.

We did a tour. The facility didn't impress us and that's OK, new management dealing with a weird…read morelayout. The staff - seemed like every single teacher was just sitting. Literally sitting. That's ok too, though. Teachers get tired and want to just sit. Here were our problems: While touring it was almost lunch time. We walked by sandwiches sitting on a paper plate with plastic wrap loosely placed over. Right above it was paint jugs - the kind that the paint has dripped all over. Still not horrible. Here's what was horrible: I asked about food preferences for my daughter and how we go about accommodating those. They said they don't accommodate those without a doctor slip. Insert confused face here. I clarified with the director and sure enough, she insists on a doctors note for a parent to choose what their child eats. I can say we toured many childcare options in a stretch of 10-15 miles and not one other facility had this response. In fact, All Around Child in Overland Park had this response when I asked: Oh our owner is very passionate about food options. Her and the chef sit and plan the menu every quarter and they design the food to all look the same even if one is vegetarian for example, so the kids don't feel odd about eating differently. And they're the same price! Shop around. Find the best option.

The kids are expected to sit on a vinyl circle on the floor quietly at look at books at 8am during drop off, no getting out toys/centers while their friends eat their microwaved breakfast. This expectation of course, does not work. Food is all casserole based and brought in from another site. Playground is nice but I once asked why there were no balls and they told me they get thrown over the fence. Ummm, they're kids, go get the balls. The security is good but reduces the sense of group/community and contact kids have with one another. I'm sure it affects employee morale too. We were unimpressed with our teacher who seemed just there to collect a paycheck and really couldn't tell me much about my sons day, development, peer interaction, etc. She was neither warm, friendly or fun. The director spends his afternoons on runs, as in running for exercise. The phone does not always get answered, when I call to check on my kid, I expect the phone to be answered. Every.Single.Time. The final straw for us was watching our kid (along with many others) sadly stand at the window every day and wave bye to their parents - heartbreaking. This never happened at our other center - literally never. I have a coworker who had to pull her son due to an unaddressed bullying issue. Despite this center being geographically ideal, it just was not worth it and we marched ourselves right back to Top Flight. We will never consider leaving again!
