As soon as I walked through the door, I was taken with the bright, clean and fresh atmosphere of the salon. Her staff is friendly, professional, and they all made me feel at home. I have been wearing my hair in the same basic style for decades... the long-layered cut my generation knows as "the Jaclyn Smith cut". With the retirement of my former hairstylist, I had let my hair go far too long while looking for another stylist, so Jovan had to basically restyle the entire head. I had expected some bumps or issues that would have to be corrected in the next visit, as has been typical my entire life. But... I never expected a gorgeous haircut and style on the first visit! As I blow dried my hair this morning, I, too, was blown away.... even on a horribly humid summer day... my hair fell right into place. I'm SO thrilled with my hair style, Jovan... thank you so much! I'd rather just sit and watch you do your magic than have my head massaged and tell my life story to my hair dresser, so this was my kind of place. Disappointed After Years of Loyalty…read more I've been going to Karmita's salon in Mohegan Lake for years and always trusted her with my hair--color, highlights, cut, and blow-dry. However, my last visit (about a week ago) was a huge letdown. My hair came out nothing like it usually does. It looked dark, with just a few thick highlights, instead of the usual base #8 with blonde highlights that I always get. When I called Karmita to talk about it, she was extremely rude and unprofessional. After all these years, I expected at least some concern or willingness to fix it--maybe ask me to come back so she could take a look. Instead, she dismissed me and only offered to use a clarifying shampoo, warning that if my hair turned green, she wouldn't take responsibility. That felt cold and honestly, very disappointing. I even went to her salon in person hoping to talk, but she wasn't there. Unfortunately, I had to travel the next day, and after washing my hair once, my hair turned green my hair is damaged now and dry it's falling apart looks dead I was in tears--especially with an important event coming up on the top of that the hair cut she cut my bangs way to short when I pointed out she reply don't worry it will grow quick. I don't know what she put to my hair or perhaps she left the product on my hair too long. I felt hurt and betrayed. It's clear the quality of her work and products has gone downhill, and I will never ever go back to her salon. Now I have to wait at least 60 days to fix my hair I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone else. If you still decide to go, good luck. But be careful with your hair.
