Lamai Thai Massage located along Yonge St. near Snowdon Ave around mid-town Toronto is the place to go to if you want to treat yourself to a Thai massage. Located on the 2nd floor above a Thai restaurant, this place actually became viral on social media as they have a deal where you can get a massage for less than $50 along with a 3 course meal from the Thai restaurant on the ground floor. Lamai Thai Massage is not accessible where there are a set of stairs to climb when you enter. In terms of services, they offer traditional Thai foot massages, a Thai body massage, a Thai deep tissue massage (with oils), an aromatic massage, hammer tapping massage (toksen), as well as a RMT Swedish or Thai massage (coming soon). They are able to offer their services for 30 min, 45 min, 60 min, 90 min, or 120 min. I decided to get a Thai massage recently to take advantage of their grand opening week deal (any massage 60+ min would be 50% off). They currently do not offer any RMT services (they likely will in the future though!), so if you have benefits you will not be able to claim this expense. Booking my massage was fairly easy online on their website. There were only limited dates and times available since others probably were trying to take advantage of their grand opening deals as well. I was able to grab a spot on a Friday afternoon. Upon entering the space, it is relaxing and tranquil. The flight of stairs to climb is at least 10+ steps so you do have to be careful. The place was busy when I entered as the staff at the front desk was on the phone booking appointments for others. There was another customer ahead of me waiting to speak with staff. A few minutes of waiting 3 other customers came in. I waited about 5 min before staff addressed me (they even first spoke with the customers who came in after me first which kind of confused me a bit since I was waiting first). The front area does not have a lot of space so when I was finally checked in with staff it was a few minutes after the time of when my massage was supposed to start. The staff did give me slippers and also hung up my jacket for me. I was led to a changing room with a set of clothes to change into. My massage therapist ushered me into a single room shortly afterwards. I don't normally get Thai massages but the last one I had was likely a year ago. The massage was deep and the therapist definitely attempted to loosen all the shoulder knots I had. There were parts of the massage where she stood on me, massaging my back, arms, and legs. The pressure was great and I did feel more relaxed, less tense, and more relieved afterwards. Since I did a 60 min Thai massage, my massage was only $50 (with the discount applied). Overall, a nice experience. The place is likely not used to how popular or busy they got so likely the service will continue to improve over time. I'm curious to try a Thai foot massage next time!

I first met the owner years ago at a workshop where she taught us self-massage techniques for self-care. I still use what I learned from her to this day! Back then, I remember asking if she offered Thai massage. Fast forward to today--she now owns her own business, and I couldn't be happier that we stayed connected on social media. The timing worked out perfectly: I was in town during her soft opening this month and got to experience the best Thai massage ever. My body was so tight when I walked in, but by the time the session ended, I felt loose, flexible, and completely renewed. I'm so grateful to have reconnected and will definitely be back whenever I'm in town again. Highly recommend! I didn't get to take pictures of the space but I shall next time. It was very clean and there were options for a semi public setting or private room for the Thai massage. I opted for the semi public space with curtains since it felt very open and spacious. I enjoyed the space.

I bought the mid day massage package that included 30 mins massage and lunch at Pii Nong Thai restaurant which is just next door. I booked online and we arrived on time. There was green P parking on Glenforest Road. Luckily I found the one and only parking spot . There was another guest who was late and they were not able to extend the time for massage as there were clients back to back. So make sure you arrive on time as with any other appointments! The place was small, and because our rooms was near the front, we did not have to take off our shoes. There was a closet where we could hang our coats. In the sitting massage room, there were 4 chairs like couches, and then 4 light weight massage chairs where you can lay your head on while sitting down. I had a girl B who was really good with the massage , however she never asked me how much pressure I was comfortable with , or assess anything. My friends were beside me, and their masseur asked where they would like to be massaged, if the pressure was ok.. etc. anyway, it was still a nice comfortable massage, I felt very relaxed. I would do this again! It was fun as we went next door for a wonderful lunch.

But the tour isn't over, as across the street are more choices. Since this one, Evergreen Beauty looks to be the first one coming from the east, on the north side of Spadina, I went inside, at this basement spot and was greeted by Jessica, hailing from Beijing, China. I opted for the usual combo, 30 min reflexology and 60 minutes shiatsu. Her technique was quite good and she was able to muster some decent pressure which is what I was after. At this point I have to admit that I'm getting a little confused about which one is which as they are all starting to look very similar. To add to the confusion, some of the staff move around so if you find someone you would like to use again, you need to ask for their card and contact. They sometimes work at one spa, and then move to a different one in the area so you need to ask for their availably and not assume anything. As well, their business cards may be from another spa, and not the one you were in. And since their technique and training vary widely, it helps to know what you're in for. The reflexology was done in the massage room, which wasn't quite as good since she skipped the soaking in hot water part, which is good in that there's more time for massage, but bad in that the soaking seems to help relax your feet and feels great! Ask about the soaking when you put in your order as you can choose to have the feet first, or vice versa. And ask if they include soaking in the procedure. Nice spot in the north strip of Chinatown!

Upon entering the space, you are required to take off your shoes. There are shoe racks available to place your shoes. After checking in for my appointment (was early), I sat down in the waiting room to make myself comfortable. My massage therapist came to get me at the scheduled appointment time and she took me to a shared room with multiple chairs (I believe it was called their Tulum room). Luckily, I was the only person who would be in that room during my massage experience. My massage therapist, Amanda, was friendly and personable. We made small talk as she first massaged my hands and forearms. She made her way to my shoulders, back and scalp. A very relaxing experience! Overall, great space to unwind and relax. My first impression is that this is the most legit spa I've seen in Chinatown so far. Even their business card says "accept insurance" on it so someone there must have a RMT license and adhere to the rules enough to keep their license. The other thing that gave me a more elevated impression about Blue Sky is that they have some expensive looking gear in there. Not that I know what it's for but it looks impressive. Now that I've tried reflexology, I'm hooked on that and find it relaxing and a great way to get in the mood for a massage. It helps to be in the right mood for a massage to be effective. If it takes a half hour into the massage to get that way, then that's less time for the massage to do the most good. I had a smartly-dressed more mature woman named Lucy take care of me, and she told me to try and sleep or relax with the reflexology and turned the lights right down to pretty dark which was great and worked a treat. Since they tend to massage up your calves it's almost a good idea to take your pants off, or wear light sweatpants so they aren't fighting their way down during the reflexology. Next the massage and her technique was quite impressive. She wasn't a large person but amazingly strong and could boss my body around without a problem. I appreciated how she could grab a leg or other part and shake it like you sometimes want to shake sense into someone (but can't) and in this case my body needed some sense shaken into it, so wow I'll be considering Lucy as my go-to for the best value in Chinatown massage done right! I didn't see it on the sign in the room, but at the desk they listed a 90-min massage as an option, which would be awesome especially coupled with another 30-min of reflexology beforehand. Recommended!

You can't miss the tacky neon sign out front giving a good indication if they are open or not. I was welcomed in heartily by a woman named Wiwi. She was very enthusiastic about my options for a massage here, and immediately tried up-selling me with the most expensive option, the 4-Hand Massage. She said "two girls are better than one" and who can argue with that, so I decided to give it a try. Looking at the prices, turns out there isn't any volume advantage with four hands vs. two, so unless you want to spend twice as much, this really doesn't make a lot of sense. Since the cost was so high, I opted for 30 min instead of 60 min. Since that's not a lot of time, and it takes time for me to relax, it didn't seem like much of a value. They can cover you quicker, but since you would get the same coverage in an hour, this would only be an advantage if you were in a hurry. So it could have its place. If you think you've tried everything these spas have to offer give it a shot. And consider checking out other options that look intriguing here, like the sea-salt massage, no idea what that is. According to their business card, they also have sauna and shower services which could round out your visit.

I'm not sure why, but every time I go to try out a new place for shiatsu massage in Chinatown, the experience gets better and better, and XiangXiang is no exception. It's easy to spot with some bright yellow signage, and the requisite tent card sign on the sidewalk out front. The front door is just down a few steps where the waiting area is right there in plain view. There's a hair salon above it. I walked in and was immediately greeted and offered some slippers from the shelf to prevent dragging in slop from the sidewalk out front into the massage rooms in the back. The charges for services are clearly posted and Lucy asked how many minutes I wanted. Now I know to choose the 60 as it is clearly the best value for the dollar. Interestingly, this is the first place where they had a credit machine, although I paid cash since I'm down with that. As soon as the massage started, I knew this woman had plenty of experience. This was the first one who asked, before starting, if I wanted light, medium, or heavy pressure, in good English. I said heavy and I'll let you know if it's too much. It wasn't and the experience was much more effective for me compared to others. She even asked if I wanted heavier pressure than "heavy" but I was good with her choice. This worked amazingly well for me. The heavy pressure on my thighs worked wonders and seems to have lasted til now, which is awesome if that is what made the difference, but I can't explain the improvement with any other reason. There was no head massage, no nonsense, and instead a concentrated body massage that was the best ever for me. This lady is absolutely amazing with what she can do and I highly recommend her!
