Lambda is located very close to downtown. Their produce and meat are a hit and miss. Their shelves are not fully stocked at times. Some of their produce were not very fresh when I came. I believe after T&T opened, it diverted a lot of businesses away. Some of their prices were not bad. I found it interesting how they can have joss paper sold in front of the dead animals/ meat section. They have King's Seafood inside Lambda. They also have Maxim Bakery in here as well. Technically, this could be a one stop grocery store. But again T&T is also a one stop grocery store too. It does look like a typical Chinese/Asian grocery store. Yes Lambda has been around for a long time. They do close quite early at 7pm. Back in 2017, my issues was that I couldn't make it there at 7pm. Parking is limited here. read more

We used to shop here, and got lured away when the T&T opened. We were up the street for some noodles today, and were on our way to T&T when we saw Lambda and went in. First, don't even think about parking in the lot unless you hate your car. Its all SUVs jammed into 'smart-car-sized parking spots... Pay a buck and park on the street. What you save inside will easily pay for it. Prices are way better here, selection is good for fish, meat, produce and all the sauces, spices and condiments you'll find at the big guys. We paid half what we normally pay at T&T for thin sliced pork and lamb today, and found all the fresh veg we needed too. Nice little bakery too. And there were no screaming kids, or people smashing into your ankles with shopping carts. The only thing missing is the hot food counter. I don't need that every time... I think I was addicted to T&T because of having Forbidden City in the same building, but I can easily substitute it with Sun's BBQ (yum, next door) from time to time... read more

Fellow Yelpers, I present to you my White Person's Guide to Lambda. Why am I providing you with such a valuable service? There are many reasons really, but mostly because you need to venture away from thinking that Co-op, Safeway, and Costco are the only places in this town to buy groceries. Another reason is that I might be awesome. Still trying to figure that one out. Print out and carry this handy guide with you and I guarantee you will have a positive experience AND you'll feel like somewhat of a rogue, shopping in a store where you're the only whitey. Step 1 - Do NOT attempt to park within a block of the market. Obligatory asian driver jokes aside, the biggest reason is that it will be MUCH faster to park near the Shopper's Drug Mart or Timmy's and walk the block. Step 2 - You probably love sushi (all white people do). But you don't like spending $6 for 5 little gyoza. At Lambda you can get a bag of 36 gyoza for under $6. Once you enter, walk straight ahead until you hit the freezers. Two kinds of gyoza (pork in a lime green bag, chicken in a blue bag). Pick up one of each and try to control your smugness on the way to the ponzu sauce aisle (Japanese section). Step 3 - Head over to sauces and pick out virtually any sauce for a third of a price of Co-op or Safeway. Co-op charges $4.19 for a can of Thai Kitchen coconut milk, pick up some authentic stuff here and you're laughing all the way to the bank. Step 4 - Want to make bubble tea? Pick up a bag of tapioca pearls (Cock brand is best. Seriously.) and add them to your mango smoothie for pseudo bubble tea. Step 5 - Need some fortune cookies? White people love fortunes because then they can say things like "in bed" after the fortune and laugh because now it's a sex joke and who doesn't like jokes about sex? Bag of about 20 fortune cookies - $1.10. Browse around the store each time you go because you'll always find something amazing and if you're cooking any sort of asian dish, you'll save a ton by getting your ingredients here. If you're just not in the mood to deal with the crowds & parking situation at T & T Supermarket, then give Lambda a shot. It's WAY smaller, but so are the crowds that frequent it. Their selection is EXCELLENT. They carry everything from pharmaceuticals and baked goods, all the way to pork buns and fresh produce. I was especially impressed with their selection of tofu (they carry at least a dozen different kinds) and their selection of baked goods (egg tarts, almond cookies and butterfly cookies - OH MY). The quality of product here is exceptional and the lineups are a lot less daunting than they are at T & T! read more

There is a wide selection of fresh and dried noodles, sauces/marinades, Japanese groceries and condiments, teas, snacks, cooking utensils, frozen dim sum, snacks, fresh vegetables(e.g. enoki mushrooms, Asian chives, long beans) and fruit. A fish market(I've never shopped there yet), Maxima bakery(my son just loves their pineapple buns, cocktail buns, and coconut tarts!) and Sun's BBQ restaurant (their barbecued pork, roast ducks, roast pigs, and soy chickens are seasoned and roasted better than T & T Supermarket) are located in the same building. However, I found it inconvenient that they didn't open until 10 am. I was waiting in the parking lot for a good 30 minutes after dropping off my son at school; I'd expected the store to be open at 9am. Anyway, if you do your shopping before 11am, you'll find it a lot easier to find parking around here! read more

They have a huge assortment of package ramen from different flavors, to pickled spicy cabbage/non-spicy pickled cabbage, canned conger eel in deliciously seasoned teriyaki like sauce. That you won't find in your local grocery store: superstore, Walmart, or Sobeys. You can find some nicely designed Asian bowls and utensils, good souvenir if you are travelling or you want to get some Asian designed homeware, plates, to bowls, spoons, or chopsticks. Nice bakery inside the supermarket at a fairly reasonable price, The food is fresh and tasty, and the clerks at the bakery are quite, friendly and professional. Even if you happen to be on the go buy something at the bakery and pack it for your day to eat. There is also a restaurant nearby the lambda supermarket which is on your left hand side as you enter through those 2 doors to supermarket. Ton's of Japanese candy, Kasugai strawberry, melon. hard candies, chewing gum, Pocari Sweat: Japanese brand of sports drink: similar to PowerAde. (Only much sweeter) Asian pears: mix between an apple and a pear: interesting taste: got the crunch of a apple, and light sweet taste similar to an apple. frozen dumplings are a ultra low price comparison to other stores I have visited. There is so much variety of Asian products you can buy here to make all your dishes, this list could go on forever. Visit and enjoy your Happy shopping. read more

Lambda is the little Asian grocery store that could. It is pretty small, but it packs a punch in variety and selection. They have decent Japanese and Korean specific aisles, and the rest of the store is dedicated to more Chinese style foods. They have a huge frozen foods selection, with dim sum and wontons and dumplings and noodles. There is lots of tofu, and plenty of miso and fresh and dried noodles. The fruits and veggie selection is okay, but I prefer other stores. read more

Place is relatively clean, relatively. Free parking although available, is kind of limited & congested. But it is very centralized especially for folks living on the west. Pricing is much better than T&T, much better, though varieties are limited. I am going to shop here in the near future & see. read more
