I am absolutely shocked to see Edith V.'s review, because my experience with Mr. Lambright was exactly the opposite. I found him to be lazy, nonresponsive, unethical, and intellectually lax.
Like Edith, I was an owner of a condominium unit in a large complex. I sold that unit less than a year ago, in November 2016. Mr. Lambright represented the Association, oftentimes in disputes against its homeowners. I had a problem with a pipe between the walls that serviced both my unit and the unit downstairs. I asked the Association to help me with repairs (I was paying $300/month for a 950 sq. ft. condo in HOA fees, and at the time had paid in excess of $40,000 in HOA fees over the course of my ownership). Our Declaration, By-laws, and the Uniform Condominium Act all indicate that "common elements" like pipes are the responsibility of the Association to maintain in proper working condition. Long story short, we had a legal dispute, and I eventually hired an attorney to represent me in the matter.
My attorney was unable to reach Mr. Lambright for 8 weeks. Not after phone calls, voicemails, or emails. I was able to reach Mr. Lambright after that, but each exchange was unprofessional and insulting, and it was clear he knew nothing about the law or my case. At one point he told me that he advised his client--the Association--to stop talking to me altogether ... but since he also refused to talk to my attorney, I guess his strategy was to have no one talk about the issue and hope that it would go away. He also lied about responding to my attorney's emails, which I know to be a lie because even though I asked him multiple times for proof, he was unable to provide any.
Before I hired my attorney, I had also sent several letters to Mr. Lambright explaining my interpretation of the Declaration, By-laws, and Texas statutes, hoping that the Association would at least split the cost of repairs with me. Mr. Lambright more often than not failed to respond, and when he did, only sent FORM letters using the same language, citing the same cases, even using the VERY SAME TYPOS from previous letters, indicating that he put almost no work into the case. He also assumed that I was related to a former co-owner just because we both have Asian last names. The man's incompetence and unprofessional practice are astounding.
The best part is that Mr. Lambright advised his client (the Association) to charge homeowners (like me) for his legal fees, even though we were adverse parties in a legal dispute. The Association of course happily went along with it because it absolved them of the need to pay for their own legal fees. As a result of Mr. Lambright's "legal" advice, I was saddled with the legal fees of my own lawyer, as well as for the horribly insufficient "legal skills" of Mr. Lambright, which I in fact did pay.
The only thing I can surmise as to why Edith's review is so spectacular is that Mr. Lambright was gunning for a position as her new Board's resident attorney. So if you want a lawyer who represents his clients on separate tiers based on the client's pockets (ironically, what Edith believes differentiated Mr. Lambright from everyone else), by all means hire this guy. And if you want an attorney who can't even comprehend the basic American principles of U.S. law wherein each side pays for their own legal fees absent a court order, then by all means, best of luck to you. But since there are many attorneys in Houston, I am confident that dialing a random number would get you a better lawyer than the ones at this firm. read more
