Our room was simple but very cozy, with mountain views and a balcony. However, the room did not have a fridge or microwave. I also appreciated that the hotel is dog-friendly and offers a Pupstar package. There is a restaurant and bar on site, but prices were high. Dining options in the area were limited during the off-season weekdays, which made this a bit challenging for us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the amenities we were able to experience. Carlos at the front desk provided outstanding customer service every interaction and was extremely helpful. Even though a few things were unavailable, the property itself is lovely, and we would consider returning when all amenities are open and the local area is more lively.

There is also a few tent sites. Dog friendly! Definitely a unique experience and close to other attractions in the area.

Everyone is shocked when I tell them that we stayed inside what was the giraffe house. The rooms are well-appointed, and the communal are spacious. There's a full kitchen for you to use, couches, tables, a coffee bar. But for the people who are here to explore the modern ruins, the real appeal is outside the inn. We probably spent 5 hours exploring all over the abandoned zoo, and I'm not sure we covered everything. Almost everything is open, so you can go into the buildings, inside the fences, even inside the cages. It's spooky, but so cool. And since the inn has only five rooms, we hardly saw anyone while we were out there, since you can only explore the property if you're staying there. It's only about 20 minutes to downtown Catskill, where we went to eat both nights, but while you're on the property, it's completely quiet, except for the creepily atmospheric sounds of the gun range down the road.

We enjoyed the old movie and music theme in this updated prior rectory. After spending the last several years of travel in hotels and Airbnb's, we have come to remember how personal and inviting B&Bs are. This particular one, however, is one of the best. The BB is two blocks from Warren Street for quick access to restaurants and shops. There is also a retail shop on Warren Street where you can spot many of the unique items from the house. The shop is very well curated. We stayed in Room 5 which has a private deck off the room that my husband used every morning and evening. It's the room with the beautifully updated blue bathroom. The only thing missing from the room and the bathroom was brighter light - our eyes no longer perform as well in dim lighting! We spent most of the mornings and afternoons on several hikes throughout the area - all of them peaceful and beautiful. The waterfalls at the end were stunning.

The cabin we selected included a queen bed, a table for two, a small kitchenette, bathroom, and AC. The outdoor space was really the highlight, featuring hanging lights, a picnic table, a firepit with three bundles of wood, and a hammock. Check-in was done virtually, with a code texted to your phone. When we entered the cabin, we were greeted with a personal note, a box to store away phones, and a snack package that included a s'mores kit. The cabin itself was small but had all the essentials. They really encourage disconnecting from technology. There's no TV, and they provide a designated box to put your phones away so you can be more present in nature. That said, I was happy to see there is Wi-Fi available if you need it. We spent most of our time outside enjoying the firepit and relaxing in the hammock. It felt peaceful, cozy, and different from our usual getaways. This was a completely novel experience for us and one we would absolutely do again!

We honestly weren't sure what to expect, especially because we were bringing our 80 pound Doberman. We ran a bit behind so we arrived a little late but the campground was so serene and quiet and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the bed was definitely large enough to fit all 3 of us. The kitchen came fully stocked with all the supplies we needed to cook the food we packed, but having a grocery store only 6 minutes away was so helpful when we realized we forgot a few minor things. We had access to WiFi the whole time and never lost connection. My husband was surprised at how fast the WiFi was since we both had to take a few work calls during the day. You can definitely see your neighbors but they are somewhat far enough away that it won't be a bother, unless they have a loud dog. Overall, we had an amazing time and we were able to do some golfing at Island Green and get a hike in to see Kaaterskills falls. We'll definitely check out another Getaway location!

The whole experience of planning our wedding with them was extremely difficult from the very beginning, however. Jonathan, the owner, though seemingly very kind when we first met him, was extremely unresponsive, as was his staff, which had an incredibly high turnover, making plans even harder. Through no fault of GFH, my partner and I decided to decouple a few weeks before our wedding. Understandably, GFH had to apply their cancellation policy. However, they then attempted to take advantage of us in the wake of our canceled wedding to make even more money off of us. We had a credit with them of over $100,000 and thought at the very least a small group of friends and family might still gather that weekend at no extra cost to mourn. However, Jonathan deceived us in our discussions with him about this weekend, taking advantage of what we were going through, and made additional charges not only to us, but to our guests, which we never meant to agree to. He was extremely unclear and delayed giving us concrete financial numbers in what I assume to be an effort to force us to agree to something he knew we would never do so. When this was brought to Jonathan's attention, seeking reimbursement, he threatened litigation against me. What was already one of the most trying episodes of my life was made that much worse by Jonathan, owner and manager of Glen Falls House. Unfortunately, I was not entirely surprised by his behavior, having heard in the months leading up to what would have been our wedding date some very disappointing stories about his treatment of his staff, and poor relationship with the bakery which he had set up to do catering for weddings. (They broke their partnership the day of our wedding tasting.) In short, the signs were there from the very beginning that this was not a venue to be trusted, but we blew past them, to our own detriment. Don't do the same. It is such a shame. This is such a special property. But the immoral and disorganized way it is run makes it decidedly not worth anyone having what is supposed to be the most special day of one's life there. Save yourself the heartache. Trust me.

We are visiting with family in town and were told about the new launch of this restaurant and we're excited to check it out. We had a 5:30 reservation and were seated right away. We were a party of 6 adults and a toddler. Our party ordered apps, we got the deviled eggs and the fried calamari. These things took 45 minutes to get to the table. Serving someone deviled eggs shouldn't take 45 minutes, and the calamari was frozen, so we are unsure why the opening of the service was so slow. It was almost as if the chef was deviling the eggs right at that time and for the amount of time we waited she would've have to have been cutting and battering a squid in the flesh which I know was not happening in there. Also, just to note the restaurant wasn't full. There were probably four other tables with diners. At this point, our toddler is starting to get increasingly restless, as it has been an hour and change, and the entrées have not been delivered yet at this time. My husband and I are taking turns to go into the lobby to distract her and get her moving so she wouldn't have a meltdown in the restaurant. We keep inquiring about where the dinner was and we're told several times "it's on its way" or "it's coming soon". Flash forward to 7:30pm. Our entrées were scattered arriving to the table, I asked the waitress where are my child's grilled cheese was and she said that she had forgot to put it in. (She did say she was sorry but when you have a hangry child sorry doesn't cut it) We waited all this time and the food for our baby's meal didn't exist. At this point, she was having a full fledged meltdown in the lobby, and so did I. I expressed great displeasure to the server and told her I needed her to box up mine and my husband's meals as soon as they arrived to the table, so we could leave to go deal with our toddler at home because she had reached her breaking point due to the long wait and lack of FOOD IN A RESTAURANT. We waited for our dinner service for two hours and the quality did not justify the long wait. Water logged canned green beans (the kind you get in a school or prison cafeteria),flavorless mashed potatoes, what looks and tastes like stove top stuffing... and the worst part about the whole experience, was not receiving proper customer service for this terrible experience. Me and my husband didn't even get to eat our meals at the table in the actual restaurant, which we were still charged for fully. My mother-in-law told me they comped the grilled cheese from the check (and again, I wouldn't know because I had to leave) but comping a $10 item that you forgot to put in, in the first place is not enough for the bad experience overall. We will never come back here. The kitchen brigade seems nonexistent or very inexperienced. Piss poor dinner service with even worse customer service.

Their German beer selection was great with about 4 or 5 euro pours on tap. So why not a perfect 5 based on my comments. I will say it is a 4 star with an asterisk due to Covid. We were only able to get a 7:30 reservation as that was the earliest available which was fine. Service started good and in the middle of our order, waitress got pulled away to served food to another table stating she would be right back. She didn't return for over 20 minutes to ask the other two at our table for their order. Not a big deal because we were not in any rush. Food was a bit slow but not unbearable, especially with Covid restrictions etc. one person in our party got dessert and a minute after we paid the bill, still with drinks half full, we were told dining room was closing. I get that they wanted to go home but the 20-30 minute delay taking our order is the only reason we were still there. (Side note, the server was very good but something sidetracked her) We will definitely return to the Bavarian Manor and I highly suggest it for a nice meal in a cool area of New York.

The parking lot was gravel-based, so vehicles were parked a bit haphazardly, but the lot's spaciousness ensured that it was not really an issue. The hotel was right on the stream with a lovely grassy area dotted with Adirondack chairs, hammocks, and other ways to enjoy the view. The office was located right next to that little park and was also where the continental buffet breakfast was served. The small room had a great view of the water from its few tables. The breakfast options included various hot beverages, several types of milk, yogurt, berries, granola, pastries, breads, hard-boiled eggs, lox, tomatoes, cucumbers, and more. It was really the perfect few bites to start the day with energy and wellness. While the inn had a few larger cabins, many of the rooms were supposedly rather tiny, including ours. The room had a queen-sized bed, nightstand, wall-mounted television, and wooden desk with matching chair. There was a closet with some hanging and shelving space, as well as a hair dryer and coffeemaker. The room really left a lot to be desired from a space perspective, as it was hard to navigate. For instance, the room might have come with 2 luggage racks, but there was really only space for one. The bathroom was also tiny, and it was near impossible to use the toilet without sideswiping the pedestal sink on your way. The shower was a decent size at least. The bathroom came with fluffy towels and Aveda products, which were both appreciated. We also loved that the temperature and pressure of the water were phenomenal; in fact, the shower was like a fire hose! Though the room was small, it was SPOTLESS! Also, its individual heater packed a great deal of warmth. There was not an abundance of electrical outlets, but the alarm clock had one built in, as well as two USB ports. The extremely gracious staff had also left a binder of local recommendations for us on the table. The bed, however, was lumpy, and the pillows were cheap and uncomfortable. From a location standpoint, the inn was only a few blocks from either end of town, depending on which way you wanted to travel. The residential roads were very dark at night and many did not have sidewalks, so we definitely needed to be alert walking to and from the main drag, even though we knew the town was overly safe. The Woodstock Inn on the Millstream made up for its lack of amenities and small rooms with efficient, friendly service and clear dedication to guest satisfaction.
