From my first night there I was already wondering when we could come back. The house itself is lovely, and each room has a private porch or terrace. It's so peaceful and quiet and set back from the road by a long driveway, so it feels like a true retreat. We opted for the White Room, mainly for the king-size bed, and we loved it. Even though it was cold, we spent a good deal of time on the terrace just gazing at the mountain vista. I've been to yoga retreats where I didn't feel as serene and relaxed as I did on this trip. Also, if you have allergies, this is THE PLACE to book. I have really terrible allergies to dogs, cats, etc. and when I looked at the reviews for other Woodstock B&B's, almost all of them mentioned a proprietor's cats and/or dogs or being dog-friendly. I was so thrilled that this B&B is known for being hypoallergenic and not allowing pets. I knew I wouldn't have to deal with down pillows or comforters either, to which I'm also terribly allergic. The bed linens were clean without that antiseptic/bleach smell that's also an allergy trigger for me. I just felt super comfortable the whole time, which is so rare for me at any hotel or B&B. Carol, the owner, is absolutely lovely and a treat to talk to. I'd honestly love to spend more time with her and hear more about her life. And her assistant Tara (also lovely and a treat to talk to) made us a wonderful breakfast each morning, even picking up my requested goat cheese for my omelette! The drive into town is about 10 minutes or less, so you get the fun of being close to Woodstock with the serenity of a set-back farmhouse in Bearsville. We definitely want to come back in the summer when the saline pool is open!

Overall it was a pleasant experience as long as you temper your expectations to an old fashioned family friendly Catskills experience.

My overall sense…read moreis that many guests are returning families, for whom Winter Clove Inn holds special nostalgic memories, and they love it here. However, new guests that are expecting a 5-star resort based on Google classification will likely be pretty disappointed. The main Inn is old and charming, but it and the adjacent property buildings are showing their age in a not-so-charming way. For example, two of our five guest rooms in Oak Lodge had broken heat, which the property was certainly aware of as they had placed space heaters in the rooms before our arrival. During our last day, there was no water at all in the Carriage House, so guests could not flush toilets or wash hands, even after bowling! Really basic features you would expect in even a roadside motel, such as tissues in guest rooms, were not provided. Toilet seats that needed replacing are mismatched, with oval seats on square front toilets, and the toilet cover in the main lodge was broken and not repaired during our stay. Despite being "pet-free," blankets smelled like dog. Despite the rustic accommodations, our family created our own fun together. Our reserved table in the dining room was uncomfortably tight for 13 guests, which was continually apparent during the slow food service. The amount of food at each meal was plentiful, but servers were poorly trained as they repeatedly failed to clear place settings from one course before bringing another course, and repeatedly miscounted orders bringing the incorrect number of soups, desserts, etc. Aside from some disappointing low points, such as the embarrassing frozen mixed vegetables being served as the "vegetable of the day," or uncut unripe honeydew wedges served as the fruit option, the meals were basic but acceptable fare.

Will definitely be working with their amazing customer service team the next time we take a group trip. The River House in Catskill, NY is a beautiful property with unique charm and character. The setting is peaceful and scenic, and we really enjoyed spotting deer, bald eagles, groundhogs, and other wildlife during our stay (lots of ticks). - We chose this property for a combined bachelor/bachelorette trip with a large group of ~30 people, so our expectations were understandably high. For an occasion this special, we hoped for a comfortable, clean, and well-equipped home that could easily accommodate everyone. While the location and layout had great potential, issues with maintenance, cleanliness, and limited kitchen facilities made the stay more challenging than expected. - The house had 2 spacious living areas that were great for indoor games and hanging out, especially on rainy days. It was one of the highlights that made the space enjoyable for a large group. However, there was a strange, unkempt stage-like structure on the property that felt out of place and made a few people uncomfortable -- it added to the sense that parts of the property weren't well maintained. - We chose AvantStay after months of research because they specialize in large group rentals, and while the booking process was smooth, the experience lacked the warmth & attention to detail a local host might provide. - For the $13,000 price, there were quite a few disappointing issues. We found wrappers and earplugs under the bed in the master suite, dead bugs in the basement rooms, worn-out couch cushions, and a dirty sponge in the sink. The shower curtains were cheap, the kitchen pantry and cabinets were disorganized, and the dishwasher shelves were broken. The indoor plants were dead, the flower beds overgrown, and there was only one small stove/oven -- not enough to cook for 28 people. - That said, the local concierge was responsive. He brought us extra tables and chairs when requested and quickly replied when we flagged the house being too hot and the lack of extra linens.

My cousin just had her wedding at the Kaaterskill, and I have almost nothing but good things to…read moresay. I'll start with the two negatives, though, just to get them out of the way: 1. The water in the guest rooms and kitchen smells like sulfur/farts/rotten eggs. I mean, it's extreme. Very, very extreme. All of the rooms have Jacuzzi's, and I just can't imagine submerging myself in one of those tubs with the smell of the water. Peeee-yew! 2. The venue is beautiful, but it's really up to the renters to make it what they want it. It takes a *lot* of work to set things up (benches for the ceremony, room for the reception, etc.), so you have to be prepared to put some sweat into the space. That being said, it was totally worth it to work hard. My cousin's wedding ended up being the most beautiful wedding I've been to in my life. It was also great to be able to rent out all of the guest rooms for the wedding party so we were all together. There's a giant/modern kitchen so you can cook or keep things cold in the fridge. All of the other living spaces are so totally kitschy. There are artifacts and knickknacks and weird things all over the place. I can't even begin to describe some of the things you'll find in the guest spaces...that's really part of the fun of staying here! Anyway, the landscaping is beautiful. And there are fainting goats! And a pig named Victoria! And chickens! And bunnies running everywhere. And you can have firewood delivered so you can make a bonfire and cook s'mores. Really I can't say enough about what a nice space this is. Hopefully one day everyone can rent out the rooms again and we can celebrate one of their anniversaries!

I had an emergency (gas leak in my house) at 11:30 at night and needed to evacuate. Hesitantly I called the inn feeling terrible for the late night interruption. Tom could not have been kinder. This second floor room comes with a comfy bed, a little daybed, desk and a chair. Enough room to spread out comfortably. The bathroom is updated with a nice powerful shower. After your restful night's sleep, LeAnne (your welcoming host) will have a wonderful breakfast ready for you to start your day. We had yogurt with fruit and granola, warm blueberry muffins and a croissant. And with a communal table, you never know who you'll meet. Getting there is easy. While the entrance is right on Tinker Street, there are four parking spots on the side, or ample street parking on Neher Street (at least in November). Book early and maybe we'll see you there on our next trip.

Our room was decently sized and the air conditioning unit was efficient in keeping us cool during the summer heat. Our pillows varied in sizes and we sunk into the bed, which we didn't really enjoy but that's just our personal preference. If you're a light sleeper like I am, be prepared to wake up quite often when other guests goes in and out, for the walls are quite thin and certain rooms require more force in order to close/lock the door, so the sounds will definitely bleed through. There were also no body wash available in the three shared bathrooms. The shampoo and conditioner were also quite challenging to squeeze out from their tiny bottles. Breakfast was served from 8 to 10:30am, which encompassed a croissant or blue berry muffin, some mixed fruits, a glass of orange juice, and they have readily available coffee K cups and a variety of milk, ranging from whole, half and half, and oat milk. The breakfast was just a simple continental breakfast, where almost all the items were pre-made, which felt a bit underwhelming perhaps because we've been to Bed & Breakfasts where we received at least some simple home cooked breakfasts like eggs or French toasts. Overall, our best experience here was talking with Leanne; we really enjoyed our conversations with her! We arrived after dark, with the entire property lit up by bistro lights strung through the woods. Our cabin was spotless, warm, cozy and exactly what we were looking for in our quest for an "un-plugged" weekend surrounded by nature (with the conveniences of running water, heat, and electricity). Management was attentive - out of sight, but ever present and accessible immediately through a quick text. Friday and Saturday nights, they have a bonfire going, with all of the ingredients required for s'more roasting neatly arranged in individual paper bags, next to wooden dowels, and brilliantly, hand wipes for sticky hands. While my husband is a camper, I am most certainly NOT, and I found this experience to be the perfect compromise for both of us. The enormous picture window in the cabin looked out to the woods. It was such a treat to wake up to the pastel colored sky through the trees as the sun rose, and then, after a full day of exploring the area and having a fantastic meal in downtown Hudson, it was lovely to unwind in nature. We come back every year to stay in a cabin! This is our 4th year and each year we stayed in a…read moredifferent cabin. It's the best! It's very quiet! The staff and owners are wonderful, so very nice! Nobody bothers you and there is so much to do nearby! Each cabin has different amenities and we have never been disappointed with our accommodations. Our first cabin had a bath, 2 double beds, a small kitchen and table. Our second had a fireplace, bath, double bed (no kitchen or fridge but we stayed for 3 days so a cooler was easy) and with outdoor grills and picnic tables, you can cook there or go nearby for some great food and drink! Our third was in front of the pool (probably our least favorite) it was next to a motel strip of rooms, had a bed and a bath) again a 3 night visit so it was fine for that! This time a whole week in the Hilltop! 2 beds, nice bath, medium fridge, perfect for the week. Recommend to anyone! Singles, couples, families! You can't go wrong!

The staff was very nice and the cabins were VERY clean and had maid service which I didn't expect. The only issues I had was our cabin didn't have a fridge and the location, everything around it seemed to be shut down. There is a Stewart's shop and gas station down the street which was very convenient. I would definitely stay here again.
