Maggie, the owner, gave us a wonderful and private tour of the farm. The visit was the highlight of my trip to Kentucky. The Icelandics are the only native horse to Iceland. The horses are a bit smaller than other horse breeds. They are the only horse that grows a second fur coat so they are very furry in winter. They are sure footed due to non flat terrain of Iceland. They are resourceful at finding food and will even eat seaweed. Only three months of summer do they eat grass. Very relaxed and sociable. We were allowed to pet the horses, which easily steal your heart. Two of the horses have been models for Breyer horses. Several of the horses are champions. The horse barns are specially designed to keep the horses cool and allow them to socialize. The farm specializes in training horses and riders for competition. We watched trainers working during our visit. The horses are magical and the staff is talented. I can't wait to bring my granddaughters back for lessons.

A neighbor recommended Middletown Animal Clinic and it was like 'coming home.' Dr. Stephanie and Dr. McReynolds give top-notch care with utmost compassion. The receptionist is so caring and works hard to keep things moving. When back-ups occur, she is quick to apprise those who are waiting about the situation in a courteous and kind manner. The vet techs/assistants are just as caring and compassionate as the docs. The office is small, with no actual waiting area, so you phone them from your car and wait to be called inside. The exam rooms (entire building) are older and in dire need of updating (dated wallpaper, flooring, dusty and cluttered shelving), but newer equipment is present. I feel the place could use a deep cleaning and some cosmetic changes. However, what the office lacks in appearance, it more than makes up for with compassionate, knowledgeable veterinarians and staff. I will take that trade off any day! The office is located on Main Street in the heart of 'Historic Middletown.' There are 6-7 parking spaces in the front of the building, but street parking is also available up and down the street.

I've been seeing her for about 9 years now. She was my vet for my first pup on my own, Molly. Dr. Gayheart took care of her from 4 months old to just shy of 8 years when we lost our girl to IMHA. Dr. Gayheart did everything right in trying to save our girl. We had to eventually take her to Metro, but I can tell you this... Every single day, Animal Doctors called me to check on Molly's status. When Molly's time on Earth came to an end, Dr. Gayheart talked to me personally, cried with me and we talked about how everything was done that could be done to save her. I'll never forget that. Never. Dr. Gayheart helped me beyond Molly's passing to help me with our other pup Loki. He was lost for quite some time... he is now his own doggo again, enjoying his senior years. They are not an ER vet so getting in for an emergency isn't going to happen but there are other vets that are. I have exotics (bunnies) so finding a vet that is local and caring is lovely.
