A Cajun Gem in the Mountains Lan Yap is an absolute gem tucked away on Lawrence Street in Central City, Colorado. It's a tiny little Cajun joint--humble in size but huge in flavor and personality. The vibe is cozy and authentic, and the proprietor is a wonderful local who's not only a joy to talk to but also brings a wicked cool energy to the place. It's the kind of spot where you feel like you're visiting a friend's kitchen--not a fancy, polished restaurant, but something real and full of heart. Even though she was super busy, she was super nice and very friendly. Now, the food. Wow. I had the Red Beans and Rice with Chicken--absolutely amazing. Comforting, flavorful, and cooked with love. The Hush Puppies were fried to perfection--crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful inside. Easily some of the best I've had. I also tried the Voodoo Roll and the Mufaletta Roll--both packed with flavor and super creative. Even the Fried Okra, which I don't usually like, won me over. It was that good. Lan Yap isn't trying to be a five-star fine dining establishment, and that's what makes it special. It knows exactly what it is: a cozy, unpretentious place serving seriously delicious food. And it nails it. Highly recommended. I'll be back very soon--and if you're anywhere near Central City, you should be too.

I almost never write reviews bcuz I'm lazy. But this place is so deserving. My hubby and I decided to try it on a whim, and the previous Yelp reviews did not lie. The food and the proprietor are both awesome. We had the swamp soup, jambalaya, blackened shrimp egg roll, and beignets. Every single thing hit. The proprietor came by to check on us, and even customized my sweet tea by lowering the sugar. It was perfect. She was a great conversationalist. Great food, great service, cozy joint, zero regrets.

Yay! Something besides casino food, and it's GOOD!!! I've been recommending this place for some time because of the experiences of others. Finally we got to try it ourselves and were not disappointed. Two of us tried multiple dishes. My favorites were the hushpuppies, Swamp soup, and Andouille Sausage Rolls. However I had no complaint about anything we tried. The hushpuppies were crispy on the outside and appropriately cooked inside for a satisfying bite. Those and the Swamp Soup brought back fond memories of grandma's homecooking. I'll likely crave these in the future. Both of the rolls we tried had a pleasant crunch filled with distinct but complimentary flavors. The owner, Martina, was very friendly and she does it all. This local cafe presents a lovely small town, homecooked environment making me wish I had time to linger. I am eager to visit again and try other items on the menu!

We drove up to Central City from Colorado Springs and stopped here for lunch. Cajun/Creole egg rolls initially sounded strange, but they were delicious!!!! We got a Andoullie sausage roll, a Muffulleta roll, a Gouda grits roll, a Voodoo roll, and a bowl of red beans and rice with blackened shrimp. Absolutely delicious! It reminded us of trips to New Orleans from years back. She threw in a cup of Swamp Soup which we we definitely be ordering next time we drop by. We are very glad to have skipped the casino restaurants, very highly recommended.

It's early days and I expect the menu to grow along with the business. That's said, on my second visit, I love it as much as the first. First time I had Jambalaya (a special). It's a dish I cook a few times each year (which along with a few visits to NOLA makes me a self-proclaimed expert). It was served here with a sauce or gravy which gave it moisture that I haven't had in others. I liked it very much. Today I had Red Bean & Rice with Andouille. Very good level of spice. It's a charming little dining room and the two ladies who run the business are very warm with Southern hospitality. Bluegrass music in the background to go with my Beignet dessert.

Food was decent, but not worth the one hour wait on busy saturday. Just one employee in the kitchen and one out front.

Food is a 10 out of 10. Beats any casino food in the area! Highly recommend you stop by. Parking can be difficult.

Food was fantastic, we don't eat out often, but this place beat our expectations. Would definitely recommend and will return again soon.

She has no issue for making food for the Bally employees. The other cooks, I believe his name is Jay, is a cool guy and very friendly.
