While in BH we tried to support some of the smaller local businesses unaffiliated with the large casinos so we tried bean and cream for breakfast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop is very small and a bit tight, but does have both indoor and outdoor seating options available which is really nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pricing for their offerings are not publicly listed, which may be by design. We ordered a small cappuccino, a BLT and a ham and cheese sandwiches. The sandwiches are very large (could be easily shared) and the coffee was good. However, the price was quite steep ($38.08). We do understand that BH is a tourist town with no other industry, but nearly $40 still seems a lot for two sandwiches and one coffee. We also didn't find the service super friendly or particularly efficient. At delivery of our food the server said: "I guess I forgot to mention sandwiches come with a bag of chips. Get what you want from the back wall". It took a moment to figure out where the chips were (the back wall is technically the bar) but I finally realized they are on the right side of the shop. We also found it amusing that the options on the Square terminal (for what is basically a self service coffee shop) had suggested tips options as: 25% - 30% - 35% Again, a bit steep for the service provided, but no complaints for the quality and flavor of the options we tried and if we are back in the area we may decide to split a sandwich. read more

Cute little spot, really good ice cream. right off the highway so it was easy to get in and out. nice unique selection of ice creams and seemed to be a local favorite. Stopped here twice during our cabin stay just north of here. Coffee is just ok but their food and service make up for it. Chocolate chip cookies are worth it. Service was quick. I had to go back in to have my bagel toasted because they ran it thru once and it wasn't toasted. Simple things, I know. Then I got about a mile down the road and went to take a sip of my coffee and it was Luke warm at best and tasted like milk. As if they forgot to add the espresso... not real sure. I am a big fan of supporting local at every opportunity. I don't know what 'locally sourced' means to these folks but after ordering, I saw them open the fridge to get ingredients out and every single thing was Kirklands brand aka Costco. I was shocked. That is one of the first things you see on their menu? There is nothing wrong with shopping there, as I do myself too, but I would highly encourage the ownership to remove "locally sourced" from the menu. You MUST EAT the biscuits and gravy. The biscuit is so light and so fluffy and so flaky but not dry. The gravy is exceptional. It has the perfect consistency. The flavor stand alone. You don't need salt or pepper or Tabasco. It is the perfect level of heat. Great sausage in there. Not too big. Nice and scrambled. A great addition to black Hawk! Tasty ice cream, good coffee, and great service. It's really nice to have such a pleasant little place that isn't a casino. The variety is appreciated. Suprisingly, there is also quite a large sandwich menu here, as well as a small amount of breakfast items. I've yet to try these, but I'll be back to do so as they appear tasty and are fairly priced. Decent spot to hang out and get a cup of coffee in Blackhawk! I got a chai and a bowl of soup. Both were served kinda Luke warm to me but we're both delicious. They were able to heat back up upon request. I wanted to hang out there all day but unfortunately they chopped up some onions while we were there and as hard as I tried I couldn't stand to be in the shop. A few of us had to leave even though we were hanging out. It was very overwhelming. I'll definitely come back and try out more sandwiches though and their ice cream next time I'm in town! read more

I can see why this place has five stars it was delicious! I love that fact that it's so homey and the cashiers are genuinely happy to be there & make great recs on what they have that you could be feeling. Walked over from our hotel for coffee to this quaint independent cafe. I chose it over the conveniently placed Starbucks in our hotel lobby. The coffee prices were expensive. The flavor was ok. I'm a coffee snob so others may find it to be just fine. It was Starbucks coffee prices! The food is more reasonably priced especially for a touristy town. The owner was super nice and friendly. He chatted with everyone who came in. It was worth it to support a local business. My sons enjoyed the double chocolate chip muffin and chocolate croissant. We were pleasantly surprised to find a quaint ice cream and breakfast place How big is a beautiful Rockwall.
