Clearstone has been managing our family rental in Reseda since 2021…read more We were moving out of state and needed a management company to take care of our "baby". I've heard so many horror stories about management companies, so I did as much research as possible and spoke with as many companies as possible. We ended up choosing Clearstone and have not been disappointed. They are very communicative and responsive to issues and questions. They do a great job keeping an eye on the property, checking in with tenants and and keeping us informed. We're not big investors, so there was a lot riding on choosing a solid management company, and 5 years later we still feel we've made the best choice.

My experience with clear stone property management has been a nightmare and they absolutely preyed on me and misrepresented the unit because I offered to pay the year upfront. My unit was never registered with USPS so I had major mail issues. I wasn't told by the owner until after I moved in about the frequent ant infestations. The AC repair man told me that the contractors of my unit were super cheap and didn't bother to put refrigerant in my unit, which is why my AC wasn't working for months. Any request that I pleaded for was ignored, despite the owners talking badly about clearstone. The unit basically became inhabitable to the point that I literally couldn't understand what was happening with my AC, and combined with the constant ant infestations, my cat stopped eating and developed documented health issues. The oven, electricity, everything in my unit is just completely messed up. Whatever contractors clearstone works with sucks! I begged to be let out of my lease because of how awful it is to live here and how severely the unit was mishandled and misrepresented, but nothing was done to even attempt to help me. I ended up talking to my parents and showing them the emails and messages and they were livid, so we retained representation to get out of the lease. Cheap owners and a predatory property management company. Moving here was a huge mistake :(

Refiloe came and appraised our rental, helping us set a good rental price, and ended up getting us a tenant in less than 2 weeks from listing! Based on my immediate experiences, I have not had a great experience moving in with Earnest Homes…read more I TRULY hope that the experience improves going forward, if it does I will update my review accordingly. But for now, this is my honest experience in case its helpful for anyone else who is planning to rent with Earnest Homes. First, I'll say that working with Donna Cura has been great. She's extremely professional, and has been incredibly attentive at answering my questions around lease documentation. Thank you Donna for making the lease process go extremely smoothly. My concerns so far are with the move-in experience. Move in day is supposed to be exciting - you've just made a big commitment to sign a lease, put a deposit / pay first months rent, and have gone through the process of setting up all your paperwork and utilities. Come move-in day I thought I would be receiving SOME level of PROACTIVE communication / outreach about move-in day logistics and a walkthrough of the house. Instead, my move-in experience was the opposite. It felt like after I signed the documents my move-in process was an afterthought. I scheduled a walkthrough around 12:30 PM on a Friday, and was met by Oneda, who was really only there to conduct an inspection of the house. She didn't know how the house was set up or have any instructions for me on how to use the things in the house. I'll go into detail around what went wrong. To be fair, Oneda did a great job going through the inspection and was very thorough and objective at documenting the different issues (e.g., cracks in the tiling, stains, scratches, etc.) Now, where the experience went downhill for me. When we entered into the home, there were a HOST Of things that did not go right: 1) There were three electric outlets that had not been completed prior to move in, they had no covers on them. It looked as if the team had painted but forgotten to put the covers back on. 2) There was a lot of grime and dirt on the bathroom faucets. It didn't seem like they did a thorough cleaning prior to us moving in. 3) Oneda did not have any idea on how to navigate the things in the house, for instance, there were electric blinds that were down and she had no idea how to open them. I randomly figured it out by pressing a button on a remote nearby. Not a good look for someone who is supposed to be showing ME around the house. 4) The previous owner left their front door security camera system + a nest security system(?) I'm not even sure what it is because no one explained / has explained to me what it is for. At the moment, I'm not sure if its the previous owner using it to spy on us or not, because I have been provided literally zero information on it. 5) I have no hot water at the moment. I did my part to set up SoCal Gas, but I was again not given any information on move-in day on how to turn on the water heater. I was not even told where it was located, I went to the backyard to find it, and once I located it I had no idea on how to turn on it / determine if its even working. I followed the instructions / watched a youtube video in hopes of trying to turn it on to no avail. 6) Now, the one that really started the negative impression of the move-in experience - I was not given the front door access codes until 4:47 PM, despite my walkthrough being at 12:30 PM. And the ONLY reason I received them was BECAUSE I HAD to follow up and ask for them! I sent an email at 1:40PM, which did not get a response. I then called the number around 4:07 PM to follow up and thank god for Brian, because he followed up with my account manager, Keren Mendoza, (who I believe is supposed to be responsible for onboarding us) and I then received a response from Keren on how to unlock the front door code at 4:47 PM. That is absolutely ridiculous. She did not include ANY other information required like how to turn on the water heater, or use the electric blinds, or security system. I'm still hopeful that this experience can be turned around, but I will wait until I get a response from the team to provide an update.

The property I was renting was a great price - they don't gouge on rent for the sake of it and rent at very appropriate prices. Anytime I needed maintenance to come out, they were quickly on top of it. And most importantly - because of some personal circumstances, I had to break my lease and move very quickly. They worked with me and held my hand the entire time as I found someone to replace myself on the lease. I walked away without any damage to my credit, a full security deposit returned (I returned it spotless, but even so, it's incredibly difficult to have that experience in a place like LA without the landlord putting up some BS excuse to not give it back to you.) and on incredibly good terms - I'd rent from them anytime. Sometimes they can be a bit slow to return your call, but give them a beat. It's NOT a huge corporation - it's a pretty mom-and-pop sized company and they can only field so many calls in one day. Lauri and Jennifer, thanks again for everything, and everyone else, please don't believe the comments labeling them scammers.

Donald was super nice and more than happy to help me. He took the time to look up my property and offer to give me a quote. Fast forward to this month when I contacted Voorheis & Voorheis for their services. I spoke with a representative who made sure to look up my property before offering me a quote for a survey. I didn't hear back from the company for 6 days. Then to add insult to injury, I was told that their company doesn't service my area, which was in glaring contrast to what Donald Voorheis told me earlier in the year, as well as the representative just recently. I'm not sure what was more disappointing, Voorheis & Voorheis' inconsistent information or the fact that it took them nearly a week to get back to me. I just wanted to share my experience. I am an Air Force veteran and this is my true and sworn testimony.
