This has to be my favorite park in Texas in terms of variety! It has paddleboats, a train you can ride, areas to fish and swim, a playground, and multiple walking trails. We stayed here two hours longer than we expected to because we lost track of time. Had an amazing time! read more

Wow just wow. Great great park. I can't even explain it to you how great this park is! We came here just to have a nice walk or stroll and what a pleasant surprise! We were walking and just impressed with how beautiful the greenery, water, and ducks were. Upon walking more we discovered a little paddle boating area. For $20 we had such a great time! It was so calming. And as we floated around on our paddle boat we heard the calming bells of the train that goes through the park. Such a calming experience all around. We caught up to the train and took a ride, so nice as the wind blows through the train. We got to see a baby deer! And some squirrels. So pretty! Upon our little train route you can see this park has everything! They have a park, pool, basketball court! Anything you could want. I would totally recommend we had such a great time! read more

Stopped in to eat my lunch at this park. I was surprised at how large it was. Numerous sidewalks and walking areas throughout the park. Lots of green space, picnic tables, and large trees. Their play areas for children volleyball court, and even some nice water features. Picnic tables for lunch as well as restrooms. Office facilities appear to be ADA approved. Barbecue pits and trash cans are conveniently located near the picnic tables. There's also a small gauge train track running throughout the park although I did not see a train. Perhaps it's only certain times of the day? Overall, a very nice surprising family friendly park that I will be sure to visit again for lunch next time. read more

Landa Park is a beautiful park in the heart of New Braunfels. I was watching my granddaughter for a few days and thought she might enjoy a little picnic. So I stopped at chic fil an and bought some food, and off to the park we went. My granddaughter loved running around the fresh cut grass, chasing the ducks and saying hi to other visitors that were walking by. The park is very clean and very well kept. There is lots of playground equipment and my granddaughter was enjoying all of it. Landa park is a great way to spend the afternoon. read more

My husband and I have visited this park before and we noticed that had a trail last time. We finally got the opportunity to go on a small hike on the trail. It was difficult but did have a climbing or increase in elevation towards the end of the trail that went up and looped back down to the main bit. It was very nice and shaded. However, when we went the humidity was 97% and there was little to no breeze. Let's just say we did work up a sweat. I enjoyed the trail and there were other people also engaging in the activity. The park also has fishing, a train ride, gazebos for parties (you need to reserve), other paved walking trails and more. The park has a lot a lot of fun outdoor activities that you and your family can enjoy. Everyone was friendly. I would definitely recommend for a nice outing. They also have swimming, baseball field across the way and playgrounds. You have to take a look for yourself. This is a nice park I will be visiting again. read more

Beautiful park, especially for a smaller town like New Braunfels. Perfect for a walk with the dogs, plenty of history markers if you're into that, too. There was also a nice trail, I think called panther canyon trail, where we took our dogs. It's about a 2 mile hike that isn't too difficult, though with some elevation if you choose to go that way. Definitely recommend planning a visit here! read more

I've been struggling with moving back to Texas. I've been away for over two decades of my life, briefly visiting here and there as I've tried to figure life out, so permanently starting over here after my mom's passing has been a whirlwind of emotions. Past demons, feelings of regret, unwanted interactions with family. It's been a lot to process facing everything that has kept me away for so long. But today I came to this park and saw nature's beauty in a way that has been unmatched, unparalleled and unforgettable. This park may have been the most beautiful park I've ever seen thus far in life. And it's insane because inside I'm at war with my emotions, but externally I'm overcome by the beauty of nature here. It's a dichotomy between beautiful nature and dark emotions. External bliss and internal sadness. Deer run through the park. Ducks swim in peace. Train rides with happy families pass through the park...everyone waving, smiling, connecting with strangers. Bridges, streams, bodies of water are woven into the beauty of the park along with nature trails. Couples spend private moments connecting on park benches. Kids play on the various playgrounds. Skateboarding, guitar playing, book reading, exercise and exploration all take place here and for a moment in time my life doesn't feel so crazy and out of control as I people watch. For now, this is all I feel like writing. read more

I love visiting this park in New Braunfels, Texas. It's so peaceful and tranquil. They've got lots of shelters and picnic areas, a pool, trails, and fun swan and ducky paddle boats for rent on the Comal River. Little choo-choo train ride goes through the park for $5 per person. read more

Memories! Long Term memories. Unfortunately from the photo you can't tell that just below the surface is about 4 to 10 feet of crystal clear water. I first discovered this idealic place in 1974. I had just graduated highschool and set out on an adventure, to find places to utilize my newly minted Scuba Diving certification. Back then this was truly, still small town Texas. There was literally no one here at Landa Park that day I doned my scuba gear and swam thru the headwaters of the beautiful river. Tall grasses growing up from the bottom provided hiding places for crayfish,bass,turtles and who knows what else. This town has exploded and is no longer sleepy. The park has been developed ( in a good way) and "no swimming or fishing", signs are posted. In a world seemingly changing daily,it was gratifying to look into the water from above and see the fish swimming through the clear flowing water and swaying grass. read more

Well-maintained park with plenty to do for everyone. If you haven't looked at a map of the park and are coming here for the first time by Google Maps, it'll direct you towards a parking lot that's a bit of a walk from the actual park itself. It's more close to the mini golf and train area. With that in mind, if you're coming here to enjoy some of the trails or what seem to be the main sections of the park, then you're going to have to go a bit further. Don't be worried though. There is plenty of free parking in the park and general vicinity. We ended up in a lot that was across from the boathouse. We walked around the main area of the park first. You'll see workers just about everywhere helping to maintain the park. Plenty of seating in well shaded areas with activities for all ages. For us, we went to the paddleboats. Rates were reasonable ($6 for New Braunfels residents, $8 for non-residents. Charged per 30 minutes). We specifically chose the swan boat and they have many other options. You'll notice that all of the boats are docked in this area where there is a bed of what I think is Texas wild-rice (not entirely sure). This makes the initial paddle and return quite difficult, at least in my opinion. And unfortunately for us, the sun was out in full force. Once you're out of that bed of vegetation, the area you're allowed to explore isn't really too big. At first it may seem like it's limiting but you'll be thankful because leaving the initial area is a challenge in it of itself. There's some shade offered with the large trees. We enjoyed it nonetheless cause it's fun and there is some nice wildlife (some birds) that you can see. Returning of course was an issue. Don't try to enter from the sides. In retrospect, paddle directly towards the dock and it's much easier then. We were actually over the 30 minutes as we had to get out from our initial attempt. Thankfully, the worker was nice and didn't mind After the paddle boat fiasco, we just went ahead to enjoy a bit more of the park. There's some cool history - I especially liked the Founders' Oak which I'd say is really the focal point of the whole park. Overall, would definitely visit again. Yes! Would I do the paddle boats again? Maybe not - I think the train is more my speed in this park. read more

Landa Park is a Local Community Park inside downtown New Braunfels TX. It accommodates reunions/parties under their gazebos. Astonishing natural views. Hosting a 300 year old beautiful tree and natural river with the clearest water I have ever seen. 1 mile long walking trail linked to other nature trails off the park. Golf course right next to it. This park is huge with many things to do. We rode the train and my son loved it. We also had a picnic there and played on the playground. Be prepared for it to be packed, it took us forever to find parking. Also, you apparently have to pay to use a picnic table. I've never heard of this before. There's a code printed on the table you scan to pay and there were park employees out and about enforcing this. I guess it's true nothing's free anymore, even enjoying a picnic with your family. So I suggest bringing a blanket to eat on the grass or your own pop up table. Other than this it's a very nice park read more

They have a train that runs thru it that the kids and young parents love. Also a pretty nice pool and water feature. Definitely a place to come and have a picnic. Landa Park is extremely beautiful. It has a ton of paved walking paths. The river runs right through the park and there are areas where you can enter the river as well as lots of different amenities and attractions wattractions within the parks boundaries. However there is a lot of foot traffic through the park. It is very popular, so it gets very busy at peak times. One of the park's best kept secrets is Panther Natural Trail. I struggled to find the trail head. Access the trail near the most northern part of Landa Park off of Landa Park Drive. It looks like you are about to walk out of the park but when you are walking up the hill the trail head entrance is to the left. I've attached some photos to give some visual reference to where it's located. But it is an awesome natural trail. Very rocky so make sure your foot wear is appropriate. Heavily shaded. I cannot wait to explore this trail more! read more

We reserved volleyball court #3 here today and used 2 tables to put some food down and eat. The park rangers (which were super annoying by the way) made us move all our stuff because we didn't reserve them. THERES LIKE 50 EMPTY TABLES HERE BY THE WAY. I totally understand if they were reserved but they were not .They also made me take down a tiny little pop up tent because it" ruins the grass"... get outta here with that mess.. we were only gonna be there a few hours and it was for the baby to get out of the sun. I think whoever made these stupid rules at a public park need to be fired. It makes no sense and makes things unpleasant and It's a huge park!!! Later on there was another guy sitting at one of the tables peacefully on his laptop and they made him move too. Super ridiculous! And uncalled for. Yall need to go redirect your efforts and pick up the squishy dog turds that all over the place at every step which is why we wanted the tables on the other side in the 1st place #yallsuck read more

Nice! My family does a reunion here every summer and has since the 1970s. I married into the family 15 years ago so my experience at Landa is below. Pros Safe. We've been going there for years and never experienced any questionable or threatening activities there. Big. Lots of space Pavilions and tables are available to reserve. Orderly. The grounds are well maintained and there are many big trees. The restrooms are in good order but not air conditioned. Activities. There's numerous playgrounds for children. And there's a dumb little kid train that goes around the park enticing small children to relentlessly bother their parents until they convince them to get on it. My kids did and so did others. Oh, and an Aqua spring pool thing to cool off but that's not free. Cons Sometimes it's very busy and parking can be a pain. Also, eep your children close as I've seen some speeding cars not paying attention to kids at play. read more

Not the park of my youth. It's beautiful now! It is beautifully designed. Covered picnic areas. Stages, bridges, & beautiful walking/jogging paths, & the areas to sit & rest is clean & well maintained. I enjoyed walking around taking photos. The ones attached were from my phone, but shows the beauty you will find at Landa Park. Walking to the fishing dock was wonderful. It was more of a great observation point for my needs. I did, however, appreciate seeing a father & little son fishing together. It was sweet. Fellow photographers were there, as well as joggers, families, couples walking, & dog owners. It was a nice park. I will be going back for more work. If you're in New Braunfels, be sure to make time for Landa Park. Great place to have lunch. read more

Park is beautiful and well maintained. The downside is you have to pay to use the picnic tables unless ur a New Braunsfels resident. It is a $500 fine if ur caught feeding the ducks or any of the wildlife. read more

This park was a lot of fun. They have spent a fortune of monuments and trees. I liked all of the signs telling you about the history, aquifer, wildlife, and trees. There is a lot to do and see here. Lots of cool bars, shops, and what-not close by. We accidentally stumbled upon an old swimming pool I haven't been to in 25 years. The area has changed a lot. I like it better now. Very cute little spot. We paid to get in for this event $15 for two adults and two pugs. There's a deep end pool and a kiddie pool. This private invite was for pugs and their humans where we stayed in the shallow end. There's a slide, playground and another play area surrounded by big trees and the natural river. I've never been here before and I suggest checking this little oasis a try when you're in town. read more

Gorgeous park for a nice stroll with your pup, or a photoshoot or even a birthday celebration. They have lots of amazing kid areas for every age to have fun and burn some energy. There is also a train ride which is super fun for younger kids. Lots of lake spots, water activities and simply a great place for just a picnic. I find it to be a gem for every photographer! So many possibilities at any time of the day! If you are planning an engagement session or a family photoshoot, this is the right place for it. The following is more of a public service announcement than a review. Other Yelpers have already covered Landa Park's myriad attractions (e.g., the choo choo train, annual events, the ravenous ducks), but I am here to share a secret hiding in plain sight: as of April 21, 2020, the park remains open to the public despite the draconian* stay-at-home executive order imposed by Governor Abbott. All events have been cancelled, of course, but the trails, picnic tables, and pavilions remain open. If you crave some pit-smoked delights from Cooper's or Black's just down the street, then consider making the three-minute drive to Landa Park and enjoying your feast under one of the pavilions. Nothing beats the experience of eating at a restaurant, but this is the next best option. Simply brush the desiccated bird excrement off the table, throw down your table cloth, and mangia! My only gripe is that the restrooms are closed. I have always practiced social distancing whilst relieving my bladder and/or bowels, but perhaps I am in the minority. Where are visitors supposed to relieve themselves? Pro tip: bring a few makeshift** porta potties (i.e., empty containers) with you should the need arise...and then ship the contents to Zhou Xianwang, the mayor of Wuhan, China. The next time you visit New Braunfels, consider picnicking in Landa Park. Go alone or with a couple of friends (no massive gatherings allowed), pick up after yourself, and enjoy a respite from the pandemic insanity. *The word "draconian" has featured in my three most recent reviews. Yes, I realize it has become an overused adjective amidst the pandemic. Unlike other commentators, however, I refer specifically to the laws enacted by Draco, the Greek lawgiver from whom the word is derived. Texas law is draconian in the literal sense. If you steal a can of Big Red from HEB, for example, mayor Ron Nirenberg will stone you to death in front of The Alamo. **I almost left out the "f" in "makeshift." That would have been both a pun and a Freudian error given the context. read more

Very disappointed in this park. Went there to have a picnic with my family on a Sunday. Chose a picnic table that didn't have a "reservation needed" sign on it. Our family sat down to eat by the volleyball nets. The Landa Park field agents (don't know their official name) came and interrupted our meal and made us move. The table was "reservation only" but the sign was not on the table itself, but on a brown wooden sign, that is not easily noticeable. I replied to the man, that I see no-one waiting for this table (most of the 100's of picnic tables were empty) and he said that it would be unfair for the people who made reservations, even though no-one had indeed made a reservation for this table. The polite thing to do would be to let us finish our meal, but he chose to do the rude and disrespectful thing which was to make my wife, myself, and 2 young children move. Im not even sure there are public picnic tables there at all. Seems all of the picnic tables are reservation only, that require a fee. Landa Park has some bad management, but whoever is making these decisions needs to be fired. I suggest that people not come to Landa Park at all, until their management fixes these problems. They need to provide public areas that don't require a reservation. If Landa Park is so poor that they need to monetize every picnic table, I think they have a big problem in general. read more

Landa Park is a lovely place to go for a picnic or a BBQ! There's a natural fed spring water wading pool for the kiddos as well as a large pond for fishing. The trees are big and beautiful and my favorite part of Landa. The kids love the huge play scape and the little choo choo train that goes around and thru the park that the children can ride on is fun for them and for mom and dad. We have a newish park in town but I prefer Landa Park! read more

Beautiful, Clean, Family Friendly, Handicap Friendly First time here today and I'm in LOVE! Went here with my Grandma, who uses a wheelchair, & it was so amazing! I didn't use the bathrooms so I have no opinion about those. Great Parks, very family Friendly. Lots of handicapped rails so very Handicap Friendly, some sidewalks end though so beware of that. My Grandmas wheelchair has a seatbelt so I had no problem going on the grass if the sidewalks ended, but it was a short and easy venture anyways. Lots of beautiful bridges & lots of benches to sit on. Being right next to the River is so gorgeous & I love how there are so many parts of the little rivers where they preserve the beautiful nature! Plenty of historical sites to learn about & just a peaceful place to be! Definitely coming back with more people! read more

This is a beautiful park to visit either by yourself or with family and friends. There's plenty of space to bar-b-que, walk, lay out, and do whatever at this place. During off peak season, it can be really peaceful. I love to just hang out and feed the ducks and the momma nutria looking for food for herself and her babies. =^^= I've taken countless pictures in this area too (this is one of my favorite places to practice at!) If you're looking to hold a party here, there are picnic tables and pavillions you can rent that will seat as many as 200 peeps. During the summer of course, it can be really busy. Especially since there's a lot more to do during that time. I've done the side-by-side bicycles, the paddle boats, and when my family came in from the east coast, we took advantage of the spring-fed pool and the big olympic-sized pool. There's even a huge-ass slide and a really cool rope you can swing from and do a belly flop into the water with (for you Adam Sandler fans out there, think Oola in 50 First Dates. Ha ha) There's even a really neat train you can ride that takes you around the park for about 2 bucks. Dogs are welcome (must be on the leash of course) and if you forget to bring your cleanup bags, Landa has posts around the park for you to take and use their bags. Be mindful and watch for the warning signs though - some places are nature sensitive and the park rangers will ask you to move to another place or not do certain things (i.e., wade in specific areas of water). read more

If you're passing by New Braunfels, this is the spot to go! It's big, beautiful, and bustling. On weekends, you'll find family barbecues, picnics, and play days at the Wading Pool. And in the afternoons, you'll find couples rowing paddleboats together, lightly bantering about who should paddle harder. One of the underrated but awesome amenities about the park is the mini-golf course. At $3 per person and no time restrictions, it's really a steal. The mini-golf course is well constructed, clean, and welcoming. The only note about Landa Park that isn't so great is the Wading Pool. It's mostly filled with dead leaves, twigs, and loose rocks and makes it hard to walk in. For the kids, it can be fun, but as an adult, I found myself tripping and stepping on sharp objects. That may be a sign that I should lose some weight, but also I feel like they should clean some of that up. read more

If you haven't been here. Go! The water is always cold, which is great in the texas heat. There is a place for every age. The older kids can go in the deeper part with the rope swing and huge slide. The younger ones can go on the shallow play area with little slides or just sit in the water splashing. The is some great shade, a playground for those that want to play out of the water, and you can bring your own food and drinks. Honestly, for the price it's amazing! Everyone will have fun. Make sure to bring chairs and something to float with like a noodle or raft. read more

Absolutely charming park with: Paddle boats A pool An adorable reasonably priced train. Cash only and a decent amount of time that takes you all around the park. Picnic tables Volleyball sand pits Playgrounds for big and little Wading pool Little babbling brooks Walking paths Just an absolutely charming, beautiful park. Definitely worth a visit..
