I went tubing with a group of friends. We got our tubes from Corner Tubes just right across the street from Prince Solms Park. Walking wasn't that bad. It gave me a chance to stretch or warm up before getting to Comal River. According to the website tubeinnewbraunfels.com, the part of river after the chute is on the park ground. I enjoyed the tubing experience. But I was trying to catch up with my friends, I didn't fully investigate the park features. I just saw a big warning sign with information at the front entrance and the last public exit by the river. I noticed the life jacket stand but I didn't know if it was free or not. There weren't that many people last Saturday. I guess it was a good time to go tubing. read more

Park is just ok. Parking now $20. There's a sign that says picnic tables $25 on weekends. A lot of fools smoking cigs and weed. No personal grills allowed. Park needs more tables and some shades. read more

this place is so much fun and so gorgeous. however, they have the most unqualified and unprofessional lifeguards there. multiple times throughout my visit they were on their phones for long durations, bodies facing each other while socializing with one another and rarely looking out to watch the water. last year when I attended, there was an older lady who almost drowned. however, the lifeguards were not the ones to catch this happening, they had to be told by an outside source what was going on. they're so young and inattentive, it was infuriating; do better. read more

Home of the infamous Tube Chute!!! Prince Solms Park is on the banks of the Comal river pronounced KoMawl. This park is the best place to launch into the Comal and its my favorite tubing river for many reasons. The river is fast, fun, well maintained(rock and debris removal), and free. Yes free, if you have your own tubes it's free and easy to park on the street and jump in at Prince Solms Park and because the river bends like a horseshoe you can get out at the end and easily walk or stumble back to your car. So you don't have your own tubes :( that's OK there are plenty of rental places in front of the park and they will give you a shuttle bus ride back at the end. The Prince Solms Park is usually packed in the summer with people grilling and swimming in the Comal. If you want a table and grill you'll have to come early because this place is very popular. Also the park will charge for parking in the summer so always look on the streets first. read more

Tube chute! This place is amazing. It's a little park right on the Comal River that lets you go shooting down the chute on an inflated inner tube. If you're tubing, before you get to the chute, make sure you batten down the hatches on your tube- secure loose coolers, jewelry, etc, and make sure your keys and wallet are properly stowed, because it's about to get to be a wild ride. I can't count the number of beers I've lost on this chute. I've heard you can just park here and spend the day here. I think parking is $5-10 depending on when you go, and you get unlimited rides on the chute. Plus, there's a disc golf course here, but I've never tried it. It's nice that there's a lifeguard on duty here, because the current does get to be rather strong around here. read more

An amazing place. Found this place because several co-workers participate in a day off adventure beginning with a round of disc golf and the tubing down the country comal every May. The park has a great disc golf course that continues to get upgrades every year. Now every tee has a placard with info about each hole. Very nice. The park is absolutely stunning along the river, making it a destination for entering the Comal, the worlds shortest River, and a little place I like to call heaven. I usually would go with Landa River Trips for tubing, but I recently started bringing my own tubes and jumping in here at Prince Solms. During the summer, they charge $10 to park at the park, but I often find parking nearby and walk in. Also, you can pay $5 for an armband to go down the tube shoot unlimited times, which would be worth it. However, we've found that if you get on the river early enough, there's no one watching the chute and you can ride it as often as you like. It's a fantastic place, a destination for me multiple times every summer! read more

This place used to be so family friendly back when I was growing up. The tube chute is still fun for kids but the rest of the ride on the Comal has been infested with people smoking pot which is easy enough to ignore. The problem is that the pot smokers of the old days are totally different than today. Now they are more often associated with explicit rap music with lyrics filled with cursing, explicit sex acts, and violence. For adults this is no problem but most people don't want their kids around this type of music. And most people come to the river to RELAX. We tubed the Comal this week and it's only getting 2 stars because of the chute. The rest of the ride is for adults only in my opinion. Unfortunately we saw a couple who had a three year old kid who were stoned out of their minds to the point they could barely talk. Their kid swam up to my sister and wanted to hang out with her because the parents were ignoring him. Only 3 years old! We won't go back to the Comal again. I suggest Canyon Lake instead. read more

Having been born and raised in Texas, I have been tubing here numerous times. A year ago was the first time I scuba dived to get my certification and it was awesome! Very clear and perfect diving temp! A few weeks ago, I did my first night dive here! The weather was gorgeous and the water was lovely! I saw mud bugs and items lost by tubers! This is one of my favorite spots to picnic with all the shady trees! read more

20 to 30 dollars to park is RIDICULOUS. New Braunfels hates the tubers and are trying to make it as inhospitable as possible. It used to love to tube and walk thru the gorgeous Landa, but I'll just stay in San Antonio and spend my money elsewhere read more

Awesome place for budget tubing. Mon-Fri tubing is free and $2 per person Sat-sun if you use your own tubes. Parking is $10 all day and free for thise disabled veteran plates. I haven't used the park side on it all but hear it's nice. Tube rentals are $9 with a $15 deposit I think. Overall this is a great place to tube if you're looking to save some money. The only drawback is that you have to walk about 5-6 blocks back after your tubing adventure. All in all it takes about 1.5-2 hrs for a round trip. You can bring your own coolers as well. The chutes are really fun too. read more

this place is well maintaned and a good way to waste a saturday! They have a tube chute here that is a blast and for 5$ a person you can get hurdled down a chute and possibly drown or die. i am way to scared to do it but everyone else had a blast. i just rotate around and go up and down the river. great place to people watch! grab a tube, a cooler, and waste a day! read more

Great! The tube chute is a blast. Hold on tight to ball caps and sunglasses as you go through. Also an option to walk around if you have small kiddos or weak swimmers with you. Also a cool place to scuba, I imagine. Lots of things being dropped and lost. The ride is about an hour to a public exit not too far of a walk from the main parking lot. Free parking at the park lot until the Saturday before Memorial Day. Cash only for the entry fee. A great time!! read more

Need poles on side for easy acess for possible drowning and exits need lights ...open access from road and not safe. Kids should wear life jackets under 7 of age mandatory and shoes... just my opinion because I have seen too many accidents already down here. There should be some sort of net at exit to cut down on plp going past exit. Other issue... snakes it's not lit up well and I have almost walked on them on the sidewalk but I think they do have good prevention on slick sidewalks at times after floods they are slick. read more

If you visit this park be super away of the parking permits that are required here. We came on a off day with only a few cars were at the park. The side we parked on had no signs of a parking permit requirement on the side we parked on but across the street did have signs. But on the other side of the park signs are on both sides of the street. Being from out of town we had zero clue of paying a few dollars to park there which would not be a big deal HAD WE KNOWN!! So if your unaware of the parking permit requirement the city is more than glad to issue you a 62 dollar ticket for your criminal violation of not paying a few dollars to park there and go tubbing. ALSO be very away of all the new laws if you go tubbing! No cans and a list of other laws that was passed by the city. Your much better off going up river than dealing with the Nazi rules established by the city council. I appreciate the new laws are to prevent all the litter done by tubers but tubbing in NB is a long list of rules. If your there for a actual good time go up River Road and enjoy a much better long float. Either way don't LITTER and enjoy the River. Contacting the Parks and Rec Director so they can clearly mark that both sides of the street at the park have clear signs that tell anyone who parks there that a parking permit is required and to pay you 5 dollars like a good citizen! read more

This was a really great place to go to park and float the river. Parking was about $10 per vehicle and the cost to take the tube on the river was $2.00 per tube. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This part of the river was very calm and family friendly. Will certainly go again! read more

There's a fee and a rule for EVERYTHING. Tubing the Comal used to be fun and affordable but the greed and hypocrisy of New Braunfels has ruined it. At least it's still cool and wet. If you go on a weekend or a holiday there's an extra $2 fee per person. Signs say this is to help keep the river clean. Does it not need to be kept clean on weekdays? Obvious ploy to collect more money from visitors. The Comal river is a Texas waterway owned by the state. How can the city charge these fees? The Prince Solms chute is now restricted and tubers can only go down it one time - unless you have purchased a special wrist band. We used to scoot out at the waterfall below that shoot and let the water cascade over our heads. It was an amazing perspective. Of course, that's not allowed either. No disposable drink containers are allowed! Not even water bottles. I get that littering is/was an issue but how about watching and issuing tickets to littered rather than punish everyone? Also, homeowners can build retaining walls using sacks of concrete and let the paper bags deteriorate into the river. Apparently that litter is acceptable. And there's a fee to picnic in the park - on top of the parking fee. The residents along the river want this beautiful state resource for themselves and, with all the restrictions and fees, they can keep it and I'll keep my money. There's so many other rivers around we won't be back on the Comal. I have no doubt others will find tubing in the countryside more pleasant than down New Braunfels' concrete canal too and New Braunfels will lose their cash cow. read more
