All well presented and well cared for. The room was large, comfortable and nicely laid out. The bathroom has a proper enclosed shower. Don't miss the rooftop pool and spa. The view is pretty decent. Bring a swimsuit even if the weather is cold. The hotel is expensive whether you're paying with cash or points. Expensive enough that I stayed elsewhere in Baden-Baden. We took a taxi van from Strasbourg to Baden Baden and paid an 85 euro flat rate, it was slightly over a 30 minute ride. We asked the front desk to arrange a transfer back to Strasbourg rail station which they did. I asked them what the fare would be and was advised it would be whatever the meter said but cant be more than 125 euros. The meter was set and when we arrived at the station it read 97 but he pushed a button and it went too 200 euros. I said we would not pay that and the driver threatened to call the police. I immediately called the hotel and spoke with Constantine who arranged the ride and advised him of my situation and he refused to get involved. My MIL and Aunt told me to just pay and figure it out later. I emailed the Constantine and asked him for help and he said there is nothing he can do since its a third party even though he arranged it. I then emailed the GM Marcel Heid. He offered very little assistance saying the taxi company isnt responding to them and from now on they will only use well known taxi companies and told me he would deposit 10000 Bonvoy points which we still haven't received. They set this ride up and let us be taken advantage of by the taxi company that they set up for us. My mother and I spent over 500euros for one night at this hotel - we asked Marcel to take some responsibility in this and refund us 100 euros which is what we expected to pay. He declined stating he cant be responsible for third parties and wont respond to my emails now. So we've now been scammed by the taxi company that they set up and they just wash their hands, promise 10k bonvoy points and don't even follow through with that. Be leery abut reserving this hotel.

The employees that greeted us on arrival were very friendly and pleasant, and were always helpful throughout our stay. My room was on the third floor, and had a nice view of some green space, and the river behind it. The room was decent size, and very clean. The bathroom was very modern, and there was a nice sitting area with couch and chair, and a desk to sit at and work on the computer. We did not have time to take advantage of the pool/sauna/services, but did get to eat at the on site Restaurant the first night. The common areas and dining areas were warm and cozy. The food was excellent. We started with creamed smoked trout soup, and it was superb. Next was a salad course and fresh bread. I really like the field greens in this area of Germany. For dinner was a steak with pepper cream sauce, cooked perfectly mid-rare, followed by pancakes with apple ragout and ice cream for desert. What a great meal to wrap up a long day of travel! Every morning there was a typical German breakfast buffet in the dining area. Lots of sliced meats and cheeses, fruits, eggs, bacon, yogurt, grains, breads, and juices. Great way to start each morning, and was always tasty. Hotel Lamm was an enjoyable experience, definitely worthy of 5 stars, and comes with my highest recommendation.

Also, the rates were very reasonable, and it included breakfast. The property does not have elevators, or AC. I don't remember seeing heat either, but then again, I went in the middle of summer and didn't look very hard for heat. The service at the hotel is wonderful. We got faulty directions from GPS unit, and got to the hotel after the stated last check-in time. I had tried to call to let them know that we were coming but alas, the cell phone reception was very poor. Nonetheless, the very friendly front desk lady stayed past her off duty time until we got there and checked us in before leaving. We definitely appreciated this level of service! The town of Lichtenau is a small quaint town. After we checked in, it was a little after 10pm. There were only two spots in town that were still open for food. The next morning, after our breakfast at Landgasthof zur Blume, we took a leisurely stroll around town. On the surface, there's not much to do or see at Lichtenau. In reality, we really enjoyed interacting with the local people during our walk around town. Everyone is so friendly, and the houses so beautifully kept. We love Lichtenau, and we love Landgasthof zur Blume. We hope to be back very soon.

The Sonne with a cosy pub by the side called The Junge Alban both are run by Tilo Lutz and his mother Rosel. The Sonne has lovely tidy, clean and airy rooms with all on suit facilities and great food, the Junge Alban has just renovated the upstairs rooms which are now all on suit. On some Sundays in the year Tilo puts on a Piano Breakfast, this is a buffet at which he plays the piano and sings, it is always very popular the atmosphere in the Alban is relaxing and the drinks are of high standard. But the best of all is the home made Black Forest Gateau not to be missed. The area around the village is great for walking as the forest is just at the back door. We are regular visitors. I changed my room - and the staff was quite accommodating. Very few people speak English, but the owner does, and goes out of his way to ensure his guests enjoy their stay. One negative is the poor wifi signal at the property.
