This is a review of the food bank/food pantry, and clothing closet - including household items -…read morerun by the Meadow Glade SDA Church. All members of the community who reside in North Clark County are served, and you need not be a member of the church. The food bank and clothing closet is open two days of the week: Tues 1:00pm - 5:30pm Thurs 10:00am - 4:00pm I've attended this food bank when my regular food bank was inaccessible due to bad winter weather, or when I could not go there on Sunday, so I came here, which was open on two weekdays. I went here about three times. This is a very popular, well attended food bank and clothing closet, drawing as many as 30+ people at a time. It is necessary to come early to wait prior to their opening, if you do not want to be left only with the last dregs of grocery offerings. I have arrived a full hour ahead of when they opened, and there were still a dozen people ahead of me. I had the impression most of those people arrived two hours - or more? - before they opened. If you are willing to do that, you can acquire more grocery options. While this is a large, well organized food bank, with many volunteers, I must say that each time I came here, nearly all the grocery items were way past their expiration dates - years past the expiration date. There was always some fresh produce, which is wonderful, so that is a huge plus. I never took the frozen items, but the boxed and canned goods are mostly expired, and I left those too. The volunteers were surprised I didn't take more food, but really, I would rather not bring home expired food! There is always lots of bread, and sweet treats, and lots of different grains and bean items. It is a VERY slow process, with often a long wait, while the volunteers help people take more or put back too many of this, not enough of that. It is a bit chaotic at times, because of how they have numbered everything, but the volunteers communicate well, and are helpful and patient with people. Once you get your groceries, you are welcome to peruse the clothing items and household items, which are plentiful; clothing for every member of the family, and all sorts of helpful household items, like place mats, bedding, nursery items, etc. I always leave with two large bags of such items, and am VERY grateful. They also offer a couple personal care items, like a bar of soap, or shampoo, etc... The woman who does the intake, signing people in, is very slow and methodical, so there is always an extremely long wait before you even begin shopping, regardless of how early you might have arrived! Don't arrive to this food bank tired! I am usually wiped out by the time I leave.

Northwest Battle Buddies - All Bark, No Bite…read more As a 100% disabled combat veteran with PTSD and TBI, I reached out to Northwest Battle Buddies hoping to train my newly adopted sweetheart, a 3-year-old Great Dane mix named Minnie, to be my service animal. My wife was in Italy caring for her dying mother, while I came back to the land of the free and home of the let-you-down for "treatment" (and I use that term generously) from the usual suspects at the VA--a system so overburdened, underwhelming, and broken it has made a grown man cry many times. To help me cope, I began fostering Minnie, who quickly became my best friend and lifeline. She weighs over 100 pounds and has a heart twice that size--perfect temperament for my public anxiety, hypervigilance, and emotional support. I sent a detailed message, laying out my situation, my needs, and my struggles. When the founder finally returned my call, I expected compassion. Instead, I got cold, robotic indifference. She practically barked "What do you want?"--like I was interrupting her day, not a veteran reaching out for help. Given the constant brain fog, memory lapses, and crippling anxiety that come with TBI and PTSD, being forced to restate what was already in her hands felt dismissive and cruel. Then came the kicker: $5,000 for a single month of training, not including food, at their for-profit facility. Not a single offer of a veteran discount, financial assistance, or even a shred of human compassion. Just the price tag. Period. Yes, they offer a potentially valuable service to some veterans, which is why this isn't a 1-2 Bomb review, but their strict and judgmental policies around alcohol and drug use paint us all as addicts and liabilities. We're veterans, not criminals. We've fought and bled for this country--we deserve empathy, not assumption. CombatCritic Gives Northwest Battle Buddies 3 Bombs Out Of 10 ... Everyone is sold out for the mission of North West Battle Buddies. The trainers were so patient and professional with us (the veterans). If you put the work in and remain honest with others and yourself throughout their process, you will walk away with a battle buddy. You will feel a boost in confidence. You will be part of something greater. You will make amazing relationships with the veterans you go through the program with. You will be part of a greater family. I thought I was doing ok before NWBB. Several people in my life encouraged me to do this and I was wrong. I was not doing ok. I did not realize just how bad off I was. I was hyper vigilant constantly. Always anxious. Always spent part way through the day. Often easily irritated and shouty. My life was ok but I am still broken. Having my battle buddy has forced me to slow down and plan and take things on one at a time. I am able to be out and about like before but now I'm not stressing as much. I'm not afraid of people as much. My heart rate is lower. It's not magic but it is what I needed. I needed to know someone had my back. When you go through this program you have a whole new family to back you up. The trainers are committed to the dogs and the veterans. They taught me so much. I went from the least knowledgeable about dogs and their behavior in my family to the most in 5 weeks and I know there is so much kore to learn. They match each dog expertly with each veteran to fir lifestyle and temperament. They nailed it for me. I am so grateful to NWBB for my battle buddy. He's amazing and I know I can lead him well because they gave me the tools. If you are thinking about doing this DO IT NOW. APPLY APPLY APPLY You will not regret it.

Jeremy & Vlad arrived on time. They were friendly yet professional. They made their service feel personal by asking me what my concerns were and then addressing each one of them so that I'd feel comfortable with the process and the integrity of the company in general. I saw before and after photos as well as the junk they were able to extract from my ducts. When one of the connections between ducting sections blew apart while they were vacuuming that line, they came to me immediately, told me what had happened, and then fixed the connection even better than it was before. The cost seemed a little scary until I saw the depth and quality of the work Jeremy & Vlad did. The outcome has been less dust in the air and a healthier environment for this allergy sufferer. Better Air Northwest says it's the best duct cleaning service in Vancouver. This sounded to me at first as just a brag, but after my first-hand experience with them, I'd say it's a statement of fact.

We rented this Grange for a Celebration of Life and were disappointed by our experience. One thing…read morethat was never disclosed during the rental process, discussed beforehand, or included in the contract paperwork was the extent of the video surveillance throughout the building and property. During such a personal and emotional event, we were uncomfortable with the idea of being monitored on multiple cameras. After covering the cameras, the Grange manager arrived within minutes, removed the covering, and confronted us in a manner that felt rude and unprofessional. We ultimately had to contact the board to receive approval to keep the cameras covered during our rental period. What made this especially frustrating is that we carried substantial event insurance and were fully responsible for any damages or liability during the time we rented the facility. Had the surveillance been disclosed in advance, we could have made an informed decision about whether this was the right venue for our family's needs. The following day, during our walkthrough, we found a few empty soda cans that some children had hidden outside and cleaned them up. The manager then showed us footage from the exterior cameras documenting the children's actions. While the cans were our responsibility and we addressed the issue, the experience reinforced how closely the property is monitored and it was extremely uncomfortable to us. My purpose in writing this review is simply to make future renters aware that there are cameras throughout the property that are actively monitored during your event. For some events that may not be a concern, but for a private and emotional gathering such as a Celebration of Life, it was something we wish had been disclosed before signing the rental agreement.

How good is that? They actually care that much where the animals are going and want to make sure they are not going someplace where they could be let outdoors and be harmed or living in a bad environment. To this day the company I work for and myself collect donations to help out their Cat and Dog shelters. I am so grateful there is a place like this that really does care about what happens what the animals leave their care. More places should take lessons from them. They find loving homes, not throw away money collection adoptions. Thank you for all you do, please don't stop. Thank you for speaking for those that can't speak for themselves. Jerry

The shelter kept giving her continuos care and once again returned her to full health, and that is when we found her.
