As an avid DIYer I have donated building products to Habitat for years. They are awesome on so many levels. They recycle usable building materials and sell the rest to help fund their local projects. The Restores have a lot of fun things to look at. It's changed a bit over the years and I miss the wood products such as trim and doors, as well as tile. They carry more furniture and smaller items now. If you are interested in re-habbing vintage furniture this is the place for you...many nice wooden pieces to choose from. Things to know: they have an extensive offering of recycled paints, new and used tools, and hardware. In another section of the store they have a cute vintage items and kitchenware shop (spotted a new Cuisinart popcorn popper for $10.) And they no longer accept cash as payment. I wish Habitat continued success in helping our community. read more

What's with the raised prices? Someone's for sure taking a cut for this "nonprofit". Supposedly they price 50% off of retail, Goodwill doesn't even do that and their prices are pretty ridiculous these days as well. Volunteers and donated items, the quality isn't here either! They've rearranged the store but that doesn't justify the price gouging. Don't waste your time or money, not worth it by any means. Way to support your community!!! read more

For the simple fact it's a second hand store is minus one lol BUT these guys do a ton of good for the less fortunate. I personally don't like buying used products because you really don't know what you're getting or where it comes from. My girlfriend dragged me in there a couple times and there are a few things I'd had considered purchasing if I couldn't afford them new. Very nice people and they seem to do their best to keep the place clean. Definitely plan on donating some stuff soon that they can sell. read more

Never actually been inside the store. The day I tried to go here for the first time, there was a paper, hand written sign hung up on a piece ofstring blocking the parking lot entrance. The sign said "starting today we close at 530". I arrived at 520 pm and there were a lot of people still there shuffling around/loading items but it was clear that the store was already closed and all entrances were blocked off. I understand that store hours change and the need to check these sorts of things prior to arriving, but I checked google (which said the store closes at 6) as well as called the store prior to arriving and the voice mail message said they close at 6pm, too. I'm frustrated that I drove across town and even though I checked the hours, they were still wrong. read more

I used to love shopping here but it just isn't what it used to be. It used to have tons of amazing deals on all sorts of building materials. Now, not so much. Unless you know the cost of materials off the top of your head or want to spend a lot of time looking items up online, you're VERY likely to spend more then you would buying brand new. Items like pvc fittings are sold by the pound which is awesome (if you can find what you are looking for) but they don't seem to be taking any new pipe in (Portland never has more then a piece or two either) and fittings are mostly sink drain parts. Light fixtures are cheap, mismatched cabinets plentiful and sofas for $45ish. But a sectional or chaise will cost $125ish (more if they think they can). Then there are the over priced materials (concrete, drywall mud, painters tape, tray liners, cinder blocks, etc) that cost more then buying brand new. There are still good deals but you have to really know what items cost at other places or they'll screw you. For example, a half full bag of drywall mud for twice what a new bag costs. Concrete is $3.99 for a 60lb bag of who knows how old or where it's been stored or $3.20 at the local building materials box store. If you want help carrying or loading bring someone, the employees/volunteers very very rarely help. The lines are often long, management will just stand around talking while 15 people wait on one person at the register... but if you want a piece or two of trim, a couple tiles for an art project, a saw that is near the end of it's life or you need a solid core door for a work bench then this place is great. Prices vary widely, depending on which person took items in, some employees will charge you three different prices for three of the same item, some will give you the lowest price on all three. It seems the people who ran the Portland store have spread their ideas up to Vancouver. I remember when there was paint and deck stain, concrete additives and polyurethane a'plenty at the Portland store. Now it's mostly used motel furniture. I guess all good things must come to an end... It's definitely over. read more

What a fantastic idea! It's like the Goodwill of home improvement stores. Granted, they only take quality donations, but they use the money from proceeds to build homes. I think it's a fantastic idea! I also bought a home right down the street, so I'll be visiting as I make improvements myself. I recently signed up to volunteer at the restore. They're always needing help, so sign up! Volunteers get discounts of already fantastic prices for gently used, upcycled, and brand new materials. read more

Such rude people working there. I stopped by this morning to drop off my donation. I saw signs were posted that the donation section was closing at 11:00 am due to the hot weather. As I was taking my donation to the drop off location a lady came out the door and said "we closed at 11:00, we're not taking donations". I replied I know you're closing but it's not 11:00 am yet. She snapped at me said set it down somewhere as she was heading to her car. They don't seem very appreciative to be getting free merchandise. read more

In the past the focus was on 2nd hand building materials and excess job material leftovers. Seems there were a lot of business excess stock donations as well. Sometimes stuff was junky but usually suitable options could be readily found. I replaced many broken doors, jambs and hardware buying material from the old store. But over time, things changed. There was a period where furniture/material donations were more balanced and a good deal could generally be had. But now, the prices are high, the layout is confusing. I don't know if the lack of materials is intentional but that and my rejected attempts making donations are frustrating. But if you go with an adventurous spirit and a creative attitude you may find something you'll want. But if you need to make a particular repair or an exact item - go to a home center. read more

I've been shopping this store for years. I was looking at a small table and was waiting for payday. When I went in today, the price had jumped 100% in a week! So I checked around and found that most everything had been repriced to outrageous amounts. Do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else. I won't be back. read more

I want to continue to support this place I have been coming here for the last year and spent literally hundreds of dollars there. The prices have gone up extensively and I'm actually a little surprised at some of the staff... one in particular. For the most part customer service had been excellent but I've noticed a sharp decline and a exceedingly high increase in prices. I mean off the chart I could go to a regular store and pay some of the prices. But I will continue to go to the store since it's so close to where I live. read more

Had the opportunity to work at the store this past weekend as a volunteer and was amazed by all the stuff they have and what they are doing. Was informed that just from sales last year they were able to help fund the construction of three homes in Clark County. If you have any home projects you are working on check them out before heading to the hardware store. They have a great selection of doors, wood, reused paint, etc... I called Evergreen Habitat to ask if they could take tiles from a swimming pool demo,explaining that they still had some mortar etc. and was told to bring them in. I said I thought mosaic artists would like to have them. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of whoever I was talking to because they did not accept them once I, a 79yold woman, loaded them into my trunk and drove 10mi-one way to the drop off station. We have donated hundreds of dollars of furnishings to Habitat of Jefferson County and contribute annually as well. I have also purchased many things there. But I will not take anything there again, nor will I shop there. It's too bad because it's a worthy concept. I wish they could train their staff better so people aren't given wrong information. read more

I am very fond of these stores and what they do for the community. As a shopper I have enjoyed my time there. However, when we donated items a few weeks ago we were treated very poorly. The employees/volunteers were very rude and acted as if we were lucky that they took our items. I will not donated again and the experience made it so that we will not return to the Vancouver store. read more

Great non profit working to provide affordable housing throughout Vancouver area. Even partners with the high schools to help students build housing that they truck over for a deserving family. Has volunteer opportunities on their construction sites, helping on their selection committee, and assisting at the thrift store that supports their work. Just had to laugh today. We always try to donate items we can no longer use. Today we took a 500 headboard in mint condition to this store to donate and they had the audacity to tell us they wouldn't take it without the frame. It does attach to a frame bit doesn't have to. I've been to this store a handful of times and every time I go I'm appalled with the prices. It's a 501c3 nonprofit, everything is donated and they are asking an arm and a leg for people's junk (there are some decent items there). Today I was looking for a dresser, didn't find any but I did see a nightstand I could have refinished. It had one drawer that kept falling out when opened, it needed to be completely refinished and they were still asking about $80 for it. I asked to speak with the person in charge of pricing furniture and the gentleman told me I could speak with him regarding pricing. He said they price items at what they believe to be half of retail value. Sorry but the thing brand new probably didn't cost $80. I also saw an old Singer sewing machine and checked it out because I have a similar one. They were asking $400 for it. I asked if it had been appraised at that value. He said no it wasn't appraised and wasn't really sure how they decided on that price. These are all over craigslist for less than $200. The staff is highly uneducated with pricing their items. read more

Always find great deals and usually find exactly what I need which saves me a trip to big home improvement stores. I like hunting around for treasurers because you never know what you will find. Often there are odd n one of a kind items that are fun to find. Now that many people are repurposing furniture and everything really, it makes these stores even better than just a replacement for lumberyard. read more

stopped by to donate some wood snap together wood floaring that we switched out for a different style. Nothing wrong with it . we had 4 ft pieces and the usual much needed smaller ones. they said they could only take the long ones even though we said you need small ones and anybody who has done this type of floor would know that. to bad, someone is going to have to cut up the long ones to fit wherever they will be needed and all the good smaller pieces will go to the dump. way to go person in charge of decision making. read more
