Moving this up to 4 stars due to the recently renovated chairs to recliners. Wow. Very comfy and on par with Cineplex recliners. Tried the Laser Ultra and the sound system is the latest Dolby Atmos. Wow. Incredible detail sound!!! Overall another great option for Calgarian's in south side and pricing has not changed since recliners been added. read more

I have been here many times! The most recent time was for a free screening of the movie Sherlock Gnomes that was held and put on my St. Mary's University. Not only did we get a free screening of the movie but we also got free popcorn and a drink which was very nice of the University and of the cinema. I have been here many times before for movies but I do not remember which ones so I will continue to update my review as I see movies at this theatre. read more

This place got a serious upgrade! Not only do they have amazing, comfortable reclining chairs for your viewing pleasure but their concession area got a serious makeover​ too. The concession area has basically be converted into a mini convenience store. The popcorn is already bagged and ready to go and is kept behind large fridge-like glass doors. In addition to the wide variety of snacks, they have self-serve ice cream as well as a hot food​ station. Once you pick your items, you go up to the till to purchase your snacks and tickets. Butter is at the till as well as alcoholic​ beverages. One of the neatest aspects about Landmark is its​ soda station. If you are big into soda, you can customize any type of drink you would like. The one ​downside of this theatre is that because of the large reclining chairs, seating can be limited depending on the popularity of the movie. I recommend reserving your seats in advance online if you can to save yourself some time and disappointment if you are going during peak times. read more

Wtf are they thinking?! They have these dumb "warm" fridge things where you grab your bag of popcorn before paying. You also grab your snacks and line up to pay. The line takes forever to move, for. Ever. By the time I got to the front, my popcorn is COOOLLLLDDDD. Super cold. I ask the lady if she can layer the butter. She says she can and she does. Kinda. It's awful. Used to love the popcorn here. I'm very upset. Probably unreasonably so. First world problems right? I felt bad for all the parents standing with arms full of snacks trying to deal with their small children without having any hands free to do it. Such a DUMB system. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. read more

The deep souths closest movie theatre (and with the unfortunate fire at the soon to open cineplex it looks like it will stay that way), it was renovated a few years ago and is generally pretty new and clean. The theatres are a bit smaller than some of the other theatres in Calgary but Landmark's are all reserved seating so as long as you plan ahead you know where you're going to be sitting. Standard movie snacks and offerings, you can purchase on Atom as well and skip the concession line. read more

We choose this theatre because it's convenient... not because we're loyal customers. The movies, of course, are great. But as a business, this location is often a disappointment. If you want to arrive in time to buy your ticket, popcorn AND choose your favourite seat before the movie starts... plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before show time. There has to be a better way. All to often there is a long queue due to two things; a)... customers who have the same idea as you, buy some tasty popcorn (which will undoubtably lead to heartburn exactly 5.67 hours later) and b) rarely are all the concession registers open. Even more frustrating, there is another concession on the second level - but I've never seen it open. Opening this would definitely reduce lineups on the main level. One other thing - we go there to see a kids movie. 20 minuets of trailers... ??? Really, is that necessary. For 20 minutes, my kids say, "Dan, when will the movie start. Secondly, the volume was quite loud and my son (5yrs) would often put his hands over his ears. The bathrooms are clean. The staff are nice. Parking is a challenge but that's just the way it is at this location. Also - I like the seats. PS: I don't charge extra for typos - they're just my gift to you. read more

Great theatre to go see a late night movie. Can get extremely busy during peak hours but the weekday late night showings are usually not nearly as busy. They also do not sell hot food other than pizza which can be a bummer. Over all nice place. read more

I love the Shawnessy Landmark movie theatre for a few reasons. One they are the closest theatre if you live in the deep south. They have better deals on treats. It's definitely not near as busy as let's say Chinook. Access like most malls can be a bit of an issue or else I would have given them 5 stars. I once was there and the power to the whole block went out. They told us to keep our receipts ans when we came back they would refund us the money than. This made the most sense to me as there was no power so they would not have been able to do anything in the moment. I did end up going back and not only did they refund my ticket they gave us an extra free ticket. Alot of the times it's not how great the company is but how great they are at handling problems. These guys will always have my business. read more

So my husband and I come here all the time, because of the great customer service. However, today was the exception. We were in theatre 1 and sitting in the back row. When we sat down, we had the heat pumping out right over top of us. It was hot like a sauna. When I went to customer service to ask them to turn the heat down some, I was told that was the way it is and the back rows are always hotter. I am now physically ill from dehydration because I've just spent the last two hours sweating. Listening to your customers is one of the first rules of customer service. Or so I thought. read more

Wow, one of the nicer theaters in the city! Tier seating, comfy chairs and a nice lounge on the main floor. Would have given 5 stars if the bathrooms were nicer and cleaner, but typical facilities at a movie theatre, not a big deal. read more

For all intents and purposes (given it's a movie theatre) it is a clean facility. Also, it's the only movie theatre pretty much serving all of south Calgary. I would much sooner watch a film here than at Chinook. read more

I have been here three times since they renovated and I absolutely love it. Even before the reno I like this theatre better than Chinook because it is very close to home and less busy. Now that they renovated I will only go to this location from now on. These seats are better than watching a movie in a standard movie theatre seat seriously its fancier leather seats than what I have at home. The reclining seats are so comfortable I could almost fall asleep in them . Reclining seats also mean that you can grab a seat upfront and still have a good view of the screen. The first time I sat on the second row in one of the bigger upstairs theatres and next two times I sat in the third row of the smaller downstairs theatres and all had good views. In fact with reclining seats I really think the front rows would be better than the back rows. I will definitely be back soon for Lion King. Count me a happy customer. read more

Up until just recently this location operated as the Empire Theatres, which I also reviewed. Nothing seems to have changed, other than the prices. I went to see "Fury" and found my option was limited to a "premier" theatre. I don't understand what the difference is, other than having to pay $15.00 admission rather than the regular price. The seats didn't seem more comfortable, or wider, or better spaced. There were no free refreshments. The screen was the same size. The sound system seemed the same. And at the end of the movie, when I tried to sit and listen to the end credits, the little boy in the blue t-shirt still came in and beat on the back of the seats with a broom stick instead of waiting for the movie to be over. I give him credit, though, he did at least say "have a nice evening" when I got up to leave, so he had at least a shred of courtesy. Maybe that was what the extra $4.00 admission was for? read more
