Of all the Yum Cha restaurants I've been to within Australia, this has to be my worst experience. The food was below average and over priced, the customer service was digusting, the english speaking of the staff was hoarsed. staff were lazy as majority of the meals in the menu were self served as they would not serve it to you. Lady at the counter was very rude when making payment as she preferred cash and toilets were very dirty. Would never recommend this restaurant as I've had better else where. read more

We went in search of some authentic Yum Cha and based on reviews online (not just Yelp) we decided to head to Sunnybank and Landmark. First up the queueing system is fabulous for a seriously busy Sunday and arriving at 12.30pm. We probably didn't wait longer than 10 mins for a table of 6 people. Once inside though we were really disappointed. There was only 4 trolley's doing the rounds of a restaurant that must surely seat 150+ people. We were offered tea at seating, but no other drinks. It was only on departure that we discovered that beer and softdrinks are on offer. The biggest issue I have with Landmark is that the food was cold. They do have an option to self serve which meant that some of the food was ok but still not steaming hot as you would want your dumplings and meat, but the rest was lukewarm at best. When you have a full restaurant this is just not okay for Yum Cha based on what I know and have experienced. Just FYI on the self serve... this is not explained by staff, so take note that you take your receipt up to the counter and collect your own. There is a menu to order from if you want something specific but with no waiting staff looking after our table (or any others that we saw) it was neigh on impossible to actually do this even if we wanted to. The foods flavour itself was okay but for a busy restaurant mainly filled with Chinese people I don't understand how there wasn't food continuously circulating around the restaurant to suit demand and staff serving our table to offer drinks etc. We had to ask to have dirty dishes removed and get our tea pot refilled. The meal was cheap but that honestly was about the best that it had going for it. For me and my yum cha loving family we will continue to seek a great yum cha in Brisbane, unfortunately Landmark does not live up to its name. read more

Get your yum cha here. This is the place that is monopolising yum cha all over Brisbane with the asian community. Other dishes are okay as well, but this place specialises in it's wide array of Yum Cha therapy. From your chicken feet, to deep fried calamari, to my favourite deep fried taro puffs (they call it something else on the actual menu, but they will always be puffs to me). They charge you per head for tea and soy sauce/chilli and it's a dollar dearer on the weekends, so be prepared. My advice, go on a weekday, or before 10:30am on Saturdays, before 10am on Sundays because no kidding here, the line ups on the weekends don't just go out the door, I have literally seen a security guard put up little lining up dividers outside the restaurants entrance so people could keep lining up through the food court of the shopping centre. Word. This place must be reeling in the bucks. So go here for yum cha, gone are the times you need to trek into the valley and get a parking fine for eating. Went there with 4 friends expecting a yumcha like experience, there was four other groups of people in the entire restaurant so it was very busy how ever they sat the four of us at a table that seats two.. we made reservations and there were plenty of big tables spare so I have no idea why this happened. After ordering my friend never got his cola after 20 minutes he goes up and reminds them about his drink, he finally gets it, abo it 20 minutes past and entrees come, this is half our entrees so we assume the rest is coming, main means start coming out, we ask about the rest of the entrees, it's explained that they didn't have some of the ones in the deal so we simply don't get them (?!) Okay so try to enjoy the rest of our meal but the table is SO TINY we literally have to put things ON THE FLOOR!! One of the men working there was running through the area constantly for no real reason making us extremely uncomfortable, more of the things we ordered they just "forgot about" Over all it was a terrible experience and we will never go back, Save yourself the trouble, don't go. read more

Came during lunch time on a Sunday. Food was freezing cold. The flavour of the spring rolls were nice. But it was like the food was mass precooked before the lunch rush then was put aside to be used as needed. Service was non existent. Would not recommend or go back again. read more

I took my two children out for dinner on Christmas Day and we decided on Landmark Restaurant. We ordered 3 mixed entrees to start. The service was slow and with only 3 other tables being occupied in a room of around 100 tables that was disappointing. We weren't provided with any table water while our ordered drinks and entrees were served about 15 minutes after ordering. When the entrees arrived, they were very disappointing. The prawn crackers were rubbery, definitely not freshly cooked, the spring rolls tasted a bit "strange", the prawn toast was just an oil sponge, however the saving grace was the curry puffs and fried wantons, which were nice. The mains were not very impressive and way over-priced, in my opinion. Kung Pao chicken was nice, but nothing spectacular. The Satay chicken was basically 50% onions, 25% chicken and 25% capsicum. The salt and pepper squid was just way too oily to enjoy. We ordered steamed rice which didn't arrive with the mains, so we had to ask the waiter for it. I wasn't impressed with the quality of the food and the exorbitant price of $172 for the three of us. When we asked to have the remaining food packed in takeaway containers we were charged for the containers. Also, being a public holiday they added on a 15% surcharge. Definitely don't want to go back there again or recommend this restaurant to anyone else. read more

Like its namesake, Landmark is indeed a geographical feature of Sunnybank. It's a meeting point for friends and family to get together BEFORE heading off to another restaurant. Undoubtedly, Landmark is popular amongst older Chinese families and I think their service and decor reflect this bygone era with their gaudy chandeliers and rude wait staff. Don't be surprised if having made a booking for yum cha, you still need to queue for fifteen minutes. There's actually a sign at the front door warning that a 'reservation' doesn't actually reserve you a table. Reservations at dinner time are usually fine, but when it comes to yum cha - and fair enough, their yum cha is pretty fantastic - you will have to queue with or without a reservation. When you're lucky enough to be seated, expect to look after yourself. Wait staff are so run off their feet that bowls and plates are thrown at you. On one occasion, I helped myself to new cutlery from their drawer after trying to flag down a waitress for ten minutes. Landmark is one of the largest formal dining Cantonese restaurants in Brisbane and caters for functions and weddings. For me, there is still no incentive for going given how spoilt we are for choice when it comes to quality Chinese restaurants in Brisbane. read more

I am not a huge connoisseur of Chinese restaurants in Sunnybank; all I know is that it is THE suburb to eat some seriously good Chinese food. So when I went to Landmark to celebrate a friend's birthday, I had high expectations. To be perfectly honest, the yum cha was pretty good but overall, the place did not blow me away. We came here on a very busy Saturday during the lunch time period. The place was packed but thankful we had made a booking therefore got placed to our table fairly promptly. I can not recall all the dishes that we ordered but what I do remember was eating some steamed dumplings, sticky rice and interesting concoctions made with prawns (so many of the dishes contain prawns). What was frustrating was the service, the waiters all seemed uninterested and we had a lot of difficulty communicating with some of them due to language barriers. The only time I intend on going to Landmark is if my friend chooses to host his Birthday lunch here again. Otherwise, I'll just settle for the yum-cha and Chinese restaurants in the Valley. read more

I'm not as enamoured with Landmark as other people seem to be. The food is ok. The variety is very good, however, and the service is pretty friendly. The prices are not spectacular, but not excessive either. The floors in the bathroom are dangerously slippery. The tablecloths and carpets really need to be replaced... I wish they would put a little more care into cleanliness in general. You may be able to find comparable yum cha closer to you unless you happen to live in Sunnybank or nearby. read more

Landmark is just as it names implies. .. the gem in sunnybank. For a wide variety of asian delicacies. .. this is the place to go. Service is a bit different from your average restaurant but its all part of the cultural experience! The prices are quite cheap and the quality is good. Its a great place to catch up with friends or family. Morning and lunch time I believe is their busiest time! So beware, get in quick or reserve a table as the ques could take a while! read more
