However, after giving it another try for dinner one evening, I con quite confidently say that the much touted Korean places in the city (Maru and Madtongsan - I'm looking at you!) have another competitor that can go toe-to-toe. The first thing that separates Noritor is that it's on the ground level and has ample open space for everyone to sit comfortably in the semi-open air restaurant. The second is that Noritor specializes in dol sot bibimbap (stone rice pot). I've tried the beef and spicy calamari options on 2 separate occasions and have walked away satisfied. Particularly with the calamari, I found that there was ample squid and the level of spicy sauce and gochujang (tangy chili sauce) mixes well together. There are the typical shredded carrots, cucumber and sprouts, and I normally take the kimchi side and mix it into the stone bowl as well to give the dish an added kick. Noritor also touts itself as a Korean-Japanese restaurant so naturally I had to try the karaage (fried chicken). It was quite different from what I'm used to since the chicken was drizzled with sweet Japanese mayonnaise and mustard. Typically, the chicken comes with a side of ponzu or is just served dry. However, this interesting little mix of sauces wasn't bad at all! Also, the chicken had the right amount of moisture and was not dry in any sense of the word. Prices were in the normal-higher range for the Korean restaurants. $15 for the dol sot bibimbap and $7 for the karaage. The service was a bit chaotic since it seemed like there was only 1 person running around for the entire place. However, it was fairly well organized and the food came out in a timely manner. Definitely a place to try for lunch and/or dinner. The only downside is that the air conditioning doesn't seem to be turned on since the restaurant is open to the street. Therefore, if you're looking to eat any hot food, you might find yourself sweating a little bit. But otherwise, good food and good environment equals a satisfied customer.
