This is an awesome store to find a piano that fits your taste. The people in store are all friendly, competent in their knowledge of music and musical instruments, and very helpful but not pushy. I love Kawai and the mellow sounds of their pianos. They also have used pianos that might offer what you need with a lower cost. I thought this was a mom and pop shop after my first visit. They have a very personable and knowledgeable staff. I really felt welcome there. They have a nice selection of acoustic and electric axes, along with pianos and a few band instruments. There guitar tech does great setups for a good price. I highly recommend these guys. read more

These guys are the best. Wyatt and his employees are some of the most kind and accommodating people I've ever dealt with. I purchased a new Stratocaster with them and now I just come back frequently to hang out. They won't tell you to be quiet like they do at Bill Jones music. My buddy bought a strat from this place and a few days later noticed the bridge was broken ( sorta bent in towards the body). So he brought the guitar back to lane music and they charged him for the repair. The guitar was 100% sold broken and they still charged him for the repair. I'm all for supporting local business but in this case I will never buy anything from this business and I truly recommend if you buy a guitar from here pick that sucker apart because chances are that they're going to sell you a broken instrument. read more

Finding a family-owned music business that is as competitive on prices as the Internet- that's incredible! I recently purchased a Kawai piano. The owner, Wyatt, was very patient and helpful with a first time piano buyer. You don't get that level of insight and support buying elsewhere. What is even more impressive? The people running the show are very professional and courteous. They are experienced and know their stuff. I was looking into purchasing a band instrument and anything they didn't have in stock they could get fairly quick. Had very reasonable prices for renting/ purchasing instruments or financing options. Very willing to work with customers while not being pushy to make sales. They have GREAT deals on guitars (especially if you're interested in a pre-owned instrument), and the staff is really helpful and knowledgeable. As a grad student with a recital coming up in less than two weeks, I found myself visiting Knoxville and no opportunities to practice for five days. I called Lane Music the day before I left and asked whether they might have some space I could use for an hour or two to practice and run my recital program. They kindly allowed me use of some available studio space, and refused to charge me, even apologizing that it was "only" an upright piano available. From what I saw and heard, the staff are knowledgeable and courteous, teachers are patient and educated, and I couldn't recommend this company highly enough! Thank you, Lane music, for your hospitality to this visitor, even knowing I wouldn't be likely to make any purchase. I will recommend highly to my music friends in the Knoxville area! read more

I'm a brand new guitar player and needed a beginner guitar. I wanted an acoustic guitar that wasn't too pricey but was still of good quality. After a little online research, I found a few models I wanted to check out. Lane Music was my first stop. When I went into the store, I was greeted by Wyatt. They didn't have a huge selection of guitars in the store, but they did have some nice ones, including one of the models I wanted to check out. Wyatt couldn't have been more friendly or helpful, and he was very knowledgeable about guitars in general and especially his specific products. They were also running a sale that had a very nice discount. I told him I wanted to check out a couple of the other guitars on my list before a final decision, but I might be back. He said that was fine and made no high pressure sales pitch. After checking a couple of other shops in Knoxville, I did find some of the other models I was considering. However, none of the shops had as good a deal, and none of the sales reps were as knowledgeable or helpful as Wyatt. So I went back to Lane and bought my guitar there (a Fender Redondo) and couldn't be happier. I told Wyatt that he was as much a reason for my purchase from them as the quality of the guitar and the price. I highly recommend their store. read more
