The second was during the Philadelphia 250 Red, White, & Blue To-Do celebration. Both events had a fun atmosphere and gave me an excuse to spend more time exploring the museum. The museum does a great job showcasing the history of firefighting in Philadelphia. The first floor is home to beautifully restored antique fire engines that are impressive to see up close. Upstairs, there's a gorgeous stained glass window that really caught my eye, along with more exhibits about the city's firefighting history. One thing I thought was especially fun was that visitors can dress up in firefighter gear for photos. It's a small touch, but it makes the museum feel interactive instead of just a place where you're reading signs on the wall. The people working here are what really make the experience. Everyone I talked to was incredibly friendly and genuinely passionate about the museum. They were happy to share stories, answer questions, and explain the history behind the exhibits. You can tell they truly love what they do, and that enthusiasm makes the whole place feel welcoming. Overall, it's a small museum with a lot of heart. If you're exploring Old City or have any interest in Philadelphia history, it's definitely worth stopping by. I had a great time both visits and would happily come back again.

The building that houses the museum is a historic firehouse that was built in 1898. It was the home for Philadelphia's Engine 8 until 1952. At that time, the company moved to 319 Race Street with Ladder 2. Engine 8 moved again in 1968 and was officially disbanded in 2009. The old firehouse on N 2nd Street was turned into a museum by the Philadelphia Fire Department in 1967. Fireman's Hall Museum is one of the nation's premier institutions focused on the preservation of firefighting history and the promotion of fire safety. The museum also features the first exhibit commemorating the firefighters who died from the tragic events of 9/11. Philadelphia firefighter Brian Anderson serves as the museum's curator. My wife and I first visited Fireman's Hall Museum in 2015. At the time, we were still dating and didn't have children, yet we both really enjoyed visiting the museum. Jump to 2025, we visited the museum a second time... only now we have two little boys who love the fire department! Both of our sons had an absolute blast exploring the museum's collection. It features a number of vintage hand-drawn, horse-drawn and motorized fire apparatus, vintage firefighting gear and artifacts, a fire boat exhibit, an area where visitors can try on a firefighter uniform, and much more! We also enjoyed learning how Philadelphia's first volunteer fire company was founded by none other than Benjamin Franklin. In addition to being a Founding Father, scientist, inventor, diplomat, writer, statesmen, and postmaster general, he is also credited as the "Father of the Fire Service". We think that Fireman's Hall is one of the best fire museums we've ever visited and also one of the most underrated museums in the city.

Troy explained how they were supporting the house while this department was on a call fighting a blaze since early morning. I honor and respect those who serve their community with such bravery. True Heroes! They don't just fight fires, they provide medical treatment and rescue people from dangerous circumstances. They train on fire safety as well as the importance of properly installing smoke alarms. We talked about the Honolulu Fire Department and how the trucks are distinct. Each station has its unique design and features based on location. I didn't realize that you needed so much training for the various sections of the fire truck. I really enjoyed this visit the most.

On Tuesday April 14th, 2026, there was a troubled (or homeless) man at William McKinley elementary…read moreschool 2101 N Orkney St. who had a dog come into the garden of the school. He was told the dog couldn't be there so he began to curse and insult everyone, and they had to call the police. For about 20 minutes they tried to lure the dog (who appeared to be friendly) to their car. There were 3 police cars at the scene (There's a "Citizen" app video that was taken by me). They tried lassoing some sort of rope around his neck to use as a leash, but they failed. I'll soon be moving so I have several pet crates for my animals when I do. As I kept watching, I realized that ACCT Philly weren't going to be there soon enough, while the situation kept getting more and more tense by the minute. So I went to my home across the street, got the biggest cage I owned and brought it to the police to grab the dog. I'll be as honest as I can be, most people didn't think I was an innocent bystander, they assumed I had something to do with the guy. They acted like the cage somehow showed up out of nowhere, not even a "thank you". Yes you read that right. They didn't ask me if I wanted my cage back. Must've thought I have load of things to hand out. But the worse part about it is that the McKinley school principal was there, the vice-principal also and they DID NOT acknowledge me or thank me either. For these people, it was business as usual. This is what our world is coming to. I solved a situation for dozens of people whose work was halted for. I did it because if that dog had bitten someone, the first thing police will do is SHOOT. There were children in that school. Someone could've gotten hurt. I'm sure that the homeless man got helped, the dog was rescued and here I am without a cage now I need to buy a replacement. I feel like I was totally invisible and completely disacknowledged. I called the police 26th precinct and they had no knowledge of the incident. Guy tells me "I'm certain your cage wasn't used to get this dog". I was appalled!! I put the cage there and the police took it and the dog was led into it. Eventually the guy said "ok, well... it must be at ACCT Philly". I had to call animal control to see if my dog-cage is there. They left me on hold forever and I need to call again tomorrow I feel I was robbed of a dog cage that costs $80! This is what the police has come to.

The firefighters were super sweet (as is always the case at any firehouse I've ever visited). This place has the coolest collection of trucks I've ever seen! They have a huge converted army truck for wilderness fires, a Ghostbusters-style vehicle perfectly painted to match the neon yellow fire trucks, and an old vintage style fire truck, also painted the neon yellow of the fleet. They let the kids climb in the army/wildfire truck and gave a lot of cool details on everything. Very fun! Even better, the hoagie was packed full of quality cold cuts, and ratios of traditional Italian sandwich components were perfect. Only $10 for the huge sandwich, chips and water! Great way to support this great firehouse!

Roaches and piss poor maintenance…read more I have to empty out my cabinets and drawers so maintenance can spray insecticides in my apartment on a monthly basis and the roaches do not go away. This building is beyond infested with roaches. I have never lived with roaches and found that the previous tenant moved out because of the infestation in this building per her reviews she left on Google. The roaches we've seen are the banded type that carry 33+ diseases, 6 parasites and there full of bacteria. They're living in the walls, the plumbing and are now inside of my new appliances i just purchased in October upon getting the keys. We have wasted hundreds of dollars or pest control and countermeasures such as Raid,foggers,traps,poison and bug barrier. We were moved in with ZERO NOTICE of the pest control issues in building D.

It is decorated with dragons and flowers motifs and designed with traditional Chinese architecture style from the Qing Dynasty. I was within walking distance of ChinaTown during my visit so I had the luxury of walking here almost every day. If you are further and want to take public transportation here, you can exit the SEPTA Broad-Ridge Spure exit located at 8th and Vine. It was great because the first time I stumbled upon this I was with my coworkers, so I was like YAY friendship gate! Nice team bonding moment. There is a lot of delicious food spots in the area.
