Hello long time reviewer. Dont really do these types of reviews but this guy deserves a special place on yelp. Its odd to see 20, 5 stars reviews thinking to myself what kind of experience is really going on? Here was mine. Starting with the kicker. I actually DO THIS type of work but i was extremely busy at the time and sent my wife. First Text. Asking about prices. No response. Call. Asked about prices and guarantees. Quotes one price at around 120. Take the laptop in person. Sent my wife because i was busy. Relying on this one man. Sees she have a workstation laptop, raises the hell outta the price to 200. Since I sent my wife and she handed it over oblivious. She comes back says it was 200 to resolder a freaking pin? Let me tell you it will take this man 5 mins to finish this task if hes good. 15 if he takes his time. The parts are literally in the dollar amount. Talking about 15 dollars tops and that's generous. Whats actually wrong with Toronto is people like him taking advantage of young people, college students, older people, and non tech savvy people like my wife. This guy absolutely, unequivocally, ripped me and my wife off. Here i am a year later writing this while taking her same laptop for guess what? Repair. Goodluck! read more

This is a good man who does good work. Couldn't have asked for anyone better. He's fast, explains what he's doing and what he's gonna do, and gets the job done reliably. Had to get the screen hinge fixed, and he got it done within an hour. I was even late, just an hour before closing, yet he still took the effort and time to ensure I got it back by today. I needed a battery put into my Lenovo IdeaPad 3. New to the area, I found Michael online late one evening. He got back to me within 15 minutes, quoted me a very reasonable price (I received only 1 quote lower and it required a lot of traveling.) I went in the next day & Michael took out the old/dead battery & installed the new one. I was in & out in less than 20 minutes! Superb service at a great price. Had a self inflicted injury with my laptop. Sent an email to them which was responded to promptly. I was there at opening and was the first person in line. In fact, the technician was on time. As my issue wasn't difficult for him, he was able to fix it right away, as I had a replacement part ready. Within 15 minutes, I was out the door with my repaired laptop. Prices were very reasonable. Technician even took the tome to discuss pros and cons of different laptops and of different levels of laptop through my manufacturer of choice. Thanks. read more

I have got to Jeff a few times with fixing my laptop, this time it was an issue with the dc jack but what i didnt know was the case itself was damage and need to be fixed in order for him to replace the jack. He stuck to his quote on the jack and the time frame he quote me to fix the jack. Given he made repair to my case in this time frame too I find that good and while he could charge me full price for the addition work, he gave me a good deal on both repair and he did it in timely matter only a couple of hours without my laptop, I am happy. I have an old MacBook that stopped booting due to some serious hardware issues due to its age. I called Jeff the manager there and he was not shy about trying to help diagnose it over the phone. He was very courteous, not patronizing, and clearly understands the underpinnings of complicated personal electronics. I don't know anything about this except that it didn't and work I needed someone who was going to fix it right the first time and in a timely fashion. Jeff did numerous things to make my old MacBook work like new again and the quality of his work is demonstrated by the fact that I've enjoyed use of an old cherished laptop that others have deemed unsalvageable. The best part is that he was very communicative about what he encountered along the way during the fix and kept me in the loop as to an ETA of when it would be done. I will be seeking him out for anything electronic related in the future--especially newer MacBooks with issues since they made it difficult to swap out components after my mid 2012 model. read more

I'm just copying the review I left on Google here: Jeff knows his job really well and he's super nice. The power power jack on my Asus ultrabook broke, and I got a quote from a few places including Asus. But thenI decided to fix it myself by following a Youtube video. Big mistake! To make the laptop small and light, the manufacturer has crammed the parts so close to each other that a tiny mistake can damage your laptop. I de-assembled the laptop breaking a tiny pice and then tried to desolder the old power jack but failed. Desperate, I took my laptop to Jeff expecting that he would charge me more than his original quote after he saw what I had done. But he replaced the power jack, fixed the part I had broken, and charged me the same amount he quoted originally. Repairing these laptops is not cheap, but his quote was by far more reasonable than the quote I got from Asus. read more

I went to Laptop Specialist today to get the DC (direct current) jack on my Dell laptop repaired. Jeff, the proprietor, got it fixed in an hour and for only $75. The Geek Squad out of the Best Buy on Laird Drive wanted $600 to replace the motherboard! As Jeff said, replacing the motherboard would not have addressed the problem with the loose DC jack. He even gave me a warranty for the work. Jeff is extremely knowledgeable and his quote for fixing my laptop was $50 under another repair shop's. I will always go to Laptop Specialist for any more laptop repairs! read more

Jeff's service is so fantastic it got this years-long-time Yelp lurker to finally make an account just to let the people know! I had a host of problems and he solved them all. He's a nice, honest man who will discuss all your options and accommodating of people like me who run in 2 mins before he closes. I vouch for screen repair, motherboard, hard disk. First contacted him for broken Lenovo screen - he responded promptly, fixed it in 30 minutes, and charged me less than he quoted (which was either the same or less than the top 5 you'll find if you search for laptop screen repair on here and Best [Worst] Buy). He also gives free warranty. He cleaned the laptop, which was nice since it had been in storage for 2 years. There were a few other issues like a broken hinge & bad power jack that he let me know he could sort out for a reasonable price, which was nice. I've been some places that would either totally ignore it or fix it then charge you even though you didn't ask for it. I needed the screen on this dusty old laptop fixed because my current, brand new Dell had a water spill and wasn't booting. I'd given up on it, especially after Best Buy quoted me close to the price I paid for the laptop to fix the motherboard. Some other Yelp faves I'd called had recommended I give up too/would charge me for diagnostics if they couldn't fix it. Jeff quoted me a third of BB's price, didn't charge diagnostics, and was upfront. He determined he could fix it but couldn't stand by his work for longer than a few months; the nature of the problem meant it could go bad again. It would've been easy for him to fix it, send me on my way & leave me to possible problems down the line, but he didn't and I appreciate that. It gets better: he gave me the option of having him fix it with risk, or selling it to him for parts so I could put that money towards a new laptop. He even discussed the best laptop for my needs with me. That's a genuine person. I brought an internal HDD in a questionable state to him as well. Couldn't access it. Again, BB had quoted me some astronomical prices and told me it might not work, but Jeff was able to retrieve every last bit of my 1TB of data for less than $100 - which I didn't have to pay since I sold him my broken laptop. This took a few days, as did examining the laptop itself, but that's understandable and he always contacted me the minute everything was sorted. Once again, we discussed the pros & risks of all my options and he was very accommodating about what I wanted. If I ever have any computer problems again, he is my first stop. I live 1.5 hours away and it's worth it. read more
