I wish they were in San Antonio. All the sweet bread is awesome especially the empanadas. Can't get enough when we go visit.

Best empanadas in the valley. Lines typically first thing in the morning, only a small wait. The piggies are small but also very good.

Staff is nice and the pan dulce tastes delicious for days (especially when you stock up if you live out of town).

Now, trying pan dulce from basically everywhere (Nevada, California, North Texas, The RGV) I'm able to honestly say that this place is my favorite. Also has the best prices. There really is no marketing or signage directing you to them, but the building is next to an antique shop. Closed Mondays My favorite pastries are the conchas, pigs, pink and yellow cookies, rainbow cookies, pink donuts, and the Sweet potato empanadas are amazing. Okay so basically everything haha! Pastries are usually 3 or 4 /$1

We also tried the chilaquiles (you do have to add your choice of chicken, steak, or egg, but it's worth it), and they were full of flavor. The standout for us was the lemon poppy seed pancakes--absolutely delicious and a must-try! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice depending on the weather. The service was very attentive and accommodating, which made the experience even better. Overall, such a cute spot with great food--we'll definitely be back!

The hostess staff were incredible and very welcoming. However, our server was a bit inattentive throughout the meal. Refills, to-go boxes, and the check all took a while longer than expected. For food, we ordered the Café Borgía, Chilaquiles with egg and chicken, the Matagorda Omelet with spinach, and the Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes with strawberries and blueberries. Everything was decent, but nothing really stood out to us. The pancakes were pretty dense, and while you could definitely taste the poppyseed, we didn't get much lemon flavor from them. Overall, not a bad breakfast spot, but it didn't quite live up to some of the other meals we had during the trip.

The staff is very friendly eager to help and always smiling. Even the owner will be there in the front lines assisting. Like the olden days. You can even get a cup of coffee and talk story. They also have a few grocery items in case you need to grab milk, eggs and a soda. The ambiance is just down home. Maybe I'll see you there grabbing your favorite piece of "pan dulce". They have quite a selection of freshly made items. I would suggest getting there early if you are looking for something specific as they did have several empty trays. Everything we ordered was delicious as usual. I did not see or get to try any barbacoa or tamales, but maybe next time. This place has a history and is an important part of San Benito. If you're ever in the area, put it on your list of places to visit.
