Lively coffeeshop with crepe and ice cream options, just a short walk from the beach area. Definitely busy but worth the 15 minute wait- they seemed a bit short staffed and everyone was hustling. We enjoyed a delicious affogato and lavender latte with the breakfast crepe that had Chipotle sauce and bacon. My only qualms were because of the rush no tables were being bussed and there were dirty plates everywhere, and any live plant I saw looked like it hadn't been watered in over a month. Several limp pothos on the brink of death- kind of a vibe killer. But I do love how many plants they have. Will be back! read more

We stopped by Cafe Karma early on a Sunday afternoon... the best part of breakfast, a neighborhood band plays pick up music there on Sundays 12-2, worth stopping by for a listen, 1/2 the customers there were locals chillin' and enjoying the music! The rest of the experience was just OK... Cafe Karma is a coffee/breakfast/light lunch spot, serving coffee, teas, juices, soft drinks, and the like. Food consists of breakfast bakery (muffins, pastries) and cooked items, light snacks like quiche and croissants, and ice cream. We had lattes (per usual). Temp was great but the coffee itself was just OK, not the best. For food we had the turkey quiche and the omelette muffin. The quiche was bland, overcooked. The muffin was much better, and was definitely the better of the two selections. Staff were friendly, service was quick! With all the coffee shop options available in SPI, not sure we'd go back. We were here last week, 11/28/25. I wanted some hot coffee to take to the beach with me since it was a chilly morning. This review is really only based on the overall experience since the coffee was good: Pros: 1. My coffee order. Vanilla latte- strong and not too sweet. The cup makes a cute photo moment (pictured) 2. The baristas who took my order & made my coffee, they were nice given the circumstances (see below) Cons: 1. There was a family with (no exaggeration) 10+ children ordering before us and it was chaotic the second we walked in. The place was already packed, so it was overwhelming to say the least. I have no issues with children, as they were just being children. It was the lack of social awareness, control, & organization from the parents. Ice cream/coffee orders were being shouted in all directions, orders being changed multiple times, etc. It took so long for us to even order...and then an additional wait because they had ordered so much. I know it's not the establishment's fault, I'm just being honest about my experience. Maybe there should be a limit on how many people are able to crowd the front since it's a small space? I felt bad for the workers, they did a great job keeping it cool and professional. 2. There was a group of "Christian" men who seemed like they had a long meeting. They were having a very loud and racist brain rot induced discussion about their views on how diversity and inclusion are ruining this country. I've seen comments like that online and always assumed it was bots...was flabbergasted to actually hear it in person that was frustrating. Again, not the establishment's fault. But as a person of color myself, including the baristas, it was just very uncomfortable and wild to experience. It seemed like they felt too comfortable being that bold in there and that's suspicious to me. I literally chose this shop to avoid another notoriously racist coffee shop with a politically aggressive owner on the island! 3. The bathroom was gross. I can only give this place 2 stars only for the coffee and service. The workers all did a fantastic job, seriously give them a raise! However, we left overstimulated and extremely annoyed. There's nothing like unapologetic under performance to start your day! I came seeking a dirty chai breve, but when I realized their chai was a powder I knew not to bother. There's just not enough water in a breve to make that work. Also, chai from a powder is just never great from my experience. I think a lot of places choose it in favor of profit margin, not performance. Anyway, I asked for a small breve with one extra shot and got a regular (which is by no means small), which meant the proportions were WAY off. A seasoned barista would have seen this coming and proactively filled the cup with ice. This one would rather debate you and suggest you get back in the 30min line to buy another shot. Cute, relaxing little cafe in south padre island serving up locally roasted coffee beans and excellent ice cream Frappuccinos. Vibe: the shop is small, but has a good amount of seating, including a big cozy sofa. It feels coastal, casual, and relaxing. Service: The servers were very nice and explained the menu to us, giving us a few recommendations. They explained that they use coffee beans roasted on South Padre Island, which they also sell bags of in their little gift shop area. Drinks: We went with their suggestion of a salted caramel Karmaccino, which is essentially a Frappuccino with a scoop of blue bell ice cream. It was dense and absolutely delicious! A very good drink that will give you an exhilarating boost of caffeine and sugar to keep you going on your vacation. We also got a cortado, which was solid, but had too much milk. If you want a quick caffeine fix whole in SPI, we definitely recommend swinging by for one of their signature Karmaccinos! This spot is Let's Eat Houston approved. read more

This is a cute spot I found a little walk away from the beach! They have different flavored syrups for your latte, ice cream, and pastries in the case. They had free sour belts to try at the front and my little cousins loved that! The café is a nice place to hang out or study. Service was fast but when it gets busy, it does take a while longer for your order to come out. Be patient! The coffee isn't bad! This was my favorite coffee shop on the island! read more

Nice calm music playing beautiful inspiring photos and art throughout. The Sea Salt Brownie and Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream were tasty and not too sweet. ***Tourist Review *** My boyfriend and I stopped by for some morning coffee and we were content with the product. It's a little pricey, but it's also a tourist location, so I'd say the price is expected. We ordered a double shot of espresso and an iced latte with caramel. The iced latte had adequate caramel:milk:espresso ratio and the double shot was prepped well. I had planned to pick up a pastry for breakfast, but the options weren't catching my eye. Stopped here two mornings in a row while staying on the island, guess that's a sign that we liked the place. The first time we got the breakfast croissants, which are quite good and super filling. We got coffees both times, too, and have nothing negative to say about either of the drip or latte. Service is pretty quick, and ambiance is almost that of a bookstore. Drink local. Hey, I'm a big believer in supporting the "micro-economy"...aka "buy local", and Cafe Karma is an excellent reason to do so. It's homey, a little quirky, great service, and very good coffee. The people behind the counter were welcoming, helpful, polite, and efficient. The latte I ordered was delicious in flavor, though it could have been a little hotter. There was seating inside and out. I liked that this cafe has a lounging area, a kids area, work space, and simple cafe tables. I loved the indoor shades covered with old burlap coffee bags, and the upside down cups for lighting fixtures over the service area. Nice touches. They serve everything from sandwiches to ice cream. Coffee drinks are made near perfection. However breakfast was lacking. In my case the breakfast crepe was supposed to have two eggs according to the menu. The crepe was presented nicely but after getting half way through no eggs. When I mentioned to the host did not get a response nor resolve. Hopping this could improve as the island needs a variety of food options. read more

We've traveled to SP annually the last several years. Cafe Karma has always been a go-to for delish iced coffees and cool vibe. Late this morning, we walked in expecting same. Sole barista, kind of felt sorry for her- super busy and a few larger groups walked in after us. We were on the right side of the counter so we could read the syrup varieties and not hold up the line when it was time to order. After several minutes of waiting (in fairness, she was pretty busy and flying solo), she proceeded to walk to the other side of the counter and help the first group that arrived after we did! She saw us walk in and we were standing right there as she called out ready orders. No smile, no greeting, completely ignored and overlooked for ordering. Perfect The back story is 2 guys who met in the military while serving in the Middle East became partners. These are talented guys, not only are their plates of food works of art, the photographs of daily life in the Middle East are haunting and quite professional. And, they provide a small cache of books for your use. The ham,cheese, and bacon omelet wrapped in a superbly made crepe is one of the best meals that I have had here on South Padre Island. Been here 2 weeks now! Even though the omelet was huge, and filling, I HAD to have a slice of the gigantic Pecan Pie that was freshly made. Texas pecans I am sure. It was heavenly. I'm giving it a lower rating today than normal. Me and my sister live in Albuquerque New Mexico and we came to South Padre Island to celebrate her 60th birthday. We stopped at Cafe Karma 3 years ago and they gave me a punch card to use towards coffee. When we came in this morning the girl named Kaley at the counter gave me a hard time about my punch card because it was supposed to be for ice cream not coffee. When I was here two days ago one of the employees crossed out ice cream and wrote coffee since I already had six stamps towards my eighth one which is free. Kaley refused to stamp the card until we got another employee involved named JoJo iand he said it was okay. We don't live here but we are frequent customers when we come here so I should not be given a hard time about a punch card. In general I would give this a five-star rating but today was disappointing Along with the punch card problem they forgot my sister's order. They do have great coffee and muffins. When we were here two days ago we had the red velvet muffin and it's filled with cream cheese this morning we had chocolate chocolate chip it was delicious! I'm not here to get any employees in trouble, they're young kids and they were both friendly and JoJo was helpful and apologetic. I know they're doing their best but their best wasn't really good enough today. The ambience is very cute and relaxing as a coffee shop should be. I honestly dunno how this place has so much good reviews, I stopped by Sunday morning at CK to get my coffee before heading back home. There were two of them in front of me to place Oder but still it took 10-15mins for my turn, they charge 3.5%if your using credit card and they prefer cash. I asked the guy at the counter, how many ounce is there cappuccino, so he has this cup with him, marked how much espresso it has for different espresso drinks, and there cappuccino is dry cappuccino, it's espresso and foam, so I told him all I want is 2shots of espresso with around 6oz of milk, so he recommended regular latte with extra shot of espresso, that's an up charge, and the cup for regular latte he showed me was 12oz cup, so I told him to cut off the milk, and he said okay, I asked him again if he got it what I'm asking for and he said, he did, and they write the order on a post it. And they were way behind with there orders which I dint realize while placing the order and waited for 45-50 mins, and they gave me 16oz cup full of milk with a touch of espresso and I paid $7ish with tips for this and wasted more than a hour over it, so just took it and left, and I don't like drinking milk with touch of a coffee so dint drink it, if I had time would've asked to remake it, but dint had a patience to wait anymore. So overall, wasted my time and money to get 16oz full of steamed milk!! read more
