We were able to meet with her a month or two before our wedding and after laying out the vision and timeline, she and her team were so "on it" in terms of timing and making sure we got the shots we knew that we wanted. When it came to planning our wedding, one of the most important things to me was to find the right…read morephotographer. What is the point of amazing decorations, flowers and food if there is no one there to capture the moment? After researching hundreds of local photographers, we narrowed the list to our top five based solely on their online photo galleries. Chris was the first one we scheduled a meeting with, and we ended up booking him the next day. Chris's philosophy at Shepard Photography matched our style perfectly; simple, clean and modern. We could not be happier with our choice. Chris includes an engagement session with all of his wedding packages, and at first we thought about trying to ask him to cut it out to save a little money. I am so glad we did not though, because the engagement session really was a great way to get comfortable with being photographed in a less stressful setting. As the wedding date neared, we met with Chris again. This time he wanted to check out the wedding site to get a better feel for what we were looking for in the final product. In that same day we traveled the extra half hour to our hotel where we planned on taking our wedding party photos. Throughout this meeting we put together a schedule for the big day and came up with a list of the photos we would like to have. We left that meeting feeling very confident that we had picked the perfect photographer for us. As the day neared the inevitable changes to the schedule needed to be made. Chris was great taking those changes, adjusting the schedule and getting us revised copies quickly. When the day finally arrived, Chris and his assistant/wife Angela were we right on time (unlike some other parts of our wedding entertainment). Chris was excellent working with our planner/caterer to make sure that everything moved along according to schedule. Seeing his past work and watching his professionalism had a calming effect on us during that stressful day. We knew that even if everything else didn't go perfectly we were going to get fantastic photos. We received over 400 pictures from Chris of our big day and they are fantastic! We would highly recommend him to any couples looking for a wedding photographer.

I know lovebirds don't like to think about what might happen if your wedding is cancelled or…read morepostponed ... but please make note of Chris' non-refundable clause in his contract. The deposit is non-refundable and the remaining balance is due in full if a cancellation is within 6 months of the wedding. Earlier this year, my wedding was called off 5 months out, and my family lost out on $3,000. He said he might consider refunding $2,000 of it if he was able to re-book the date and if I submitted a signed cancellation notice, but after I did so and paid the balance in full, I never heard from him again. After hearing me say such great things about Chris from our initial meeting, my mom found it hard to believe that he might not at least offer *some* service in exchange for the $3,000 he collected, such as a family portrait session. But when she reached out to him to inquire about it, her email went unanswered. In the interest of full disclosure, here's an excerpt from one of Chris' emails as to why he maintains the non-refundable clause: "I do need to protect my income, like most wedding venders, I have one to two cancelations a year. Even one wedding is a significant part of my income for my family. Since everything is booked up so far in advanced it is hard to fill cancelled dates with less than 6 months before the wedding." I scouted this guy for two years before asking him to shoot our wedding because I was so impressed with his talent behind the lens. I'm sorry to say I wasn't as impressed with his people skills. Please consider EVERYTHING when planning your wedding, folks. Even the "what ifs" ...

We have now done two sessions with Sara (maternity and family with a newborn) and she is amazing…read more Her photography style is very on trend - light and airy with great sun flares - without feeling overly edited or filtered. Neither my husband nor I are very comfortable behind the camera but she is helping solve that! She does an excellent job of talking you through the shots and posing you without feeling forced. She also captures some really great, genuine, candid moments. Our previous experience with a different photographer was at our wedding and some of the shots were awkward and overly posed, this has not been the case with Sara at all. I also really like that if you have a hair out of place or bunched up clothing (or anything else) she will stop and tell you. Again our wedding photographer did not do this and I have several photos that would have been great but I have a few misplaced strands of hair in my face. Lastly, she was great with our baby! Our newborn was pretty squirmy and the photos had to be taken outside at a distance, family style, because of COVID-19 but Sara didn't miss a beat and was still able to get great shots of our baby.
