Wow... for such a beautiful facade, this place was probably the worst dining experience I have made it through in years. The margarita was horrid... poor mix to tequila ratio, no flavor, and was just not good in anyway. The service was nice, but very unknowledgeable of the menu items, had not tried several of the dishes they were serving, had no opinions on what was good and was slow. I had the chimichanga... it was home made, but very poor quality. The meat inside was parboiled and burnt on the edges, and the "Cheese sauce" was fairly weak. Little bit of everything, not sure what to call their food focus but then again the signage in the place doesn't even agree as to what the name is. By reputation a great place to get a steak. I've not tried it but had a Tex-Mex plate lunch that was very good not over-sauced not over-cheesed. One bit of confusion, the lunch menus have numbers for specials as does the regular menu and those numbers do not match. Great renovated building makes for a nice atmosphere. They aren't taking big culinary risks from what I tasted but it was a good meal and not many communities of such size have a quality option like this. read more

This was literally the WORST meal of my life. Nuclear waste green margaritas, sticky table, salsa that was clearly out of a jar (Pace anyone?), stale chips and awful entrees all around at the table (chimichanga and a ribeye steak). We had lunch there in Fall 2016 and it was pretty good. Also, later on, we stopped in there for drinks and I had a tamale. It was outstanding. We've been there a few times in 2017. The service is sometimes very slow. The food is hit or miss. I have to eat gluten free, and the servers don't seem to know what gluten is. The one server in particular seemed like he's not too bright and is very slow at everything. We were told that the chips and salsa are not free. What kind of Mexican place makes you pay for chips and salsa? We'll probably be back, but only because there aren't many places to eat downtown, when we're visiting in El Dorado for a concert. read more

Pretty pitiful excuse for a Tex-Mex place so close to the actual Texas. To my knowledge it's the only mexican joint in town but you better not have your hopes set too high. Green slime margaritas and soggy food are big turnoffs for me, but bottled beer and chips with salsa are always welcomed. Decent atmosphere, service was fine. Ordered a Rib Eye which is the safe go-to when out of town. Grilled pretty nice - choice cut. El Dorado is trying which should be commended and this place is a better alternative then chain restaurants. If I was to suggest an improvement I would say to make the house salads a bit more interesting and the starch sides to be home made and not a Sysco product. Seriously terrible food and the service is worse. Perhaps if I had gotten what I actually ordered it would have been better, but I'll never find out. I ordered the house salad which was described on the menu as "a bed of mixed greens served with an impressive array of fresh vegetables". What arrived was a plate of iceberg with carrot shreds, a few diced tomatoes, and two cucumber slices. Ok, then, on to the next. I ordered vegetarian fajitas and a few minutes later a young man appeared with a quesadilla on a plate. My server was right behind him. I reminded her that I had ordered vegetarian fajitas and, to her credit, she offered to replace them but I declined and kept the quesadilla, since I had gotten pretty full from the impressive array of fresh vegetables on the house salad. I nibbled on the quesadilla, which had been served with shredded iceberg, diced tomatoes, and sour cream, but no salsa. The quesadilla was undercooked, soggy, and consisted of only mushrooms, onions, and cheese. On her next stop by, I asked my server for salsa in hopes of adding flavor to the quesadilla. She came back a few minutes later with a beaker of salsa and told me that she wasnt charging me for it, that the salsa was on her since she had messed up my order. What a break! ordered the lunch special of a cheese enchilada and relleno stuffed with ground beef. enchilada was ok, relleno did not taste very good. i asked and they told me they make the rellenos in house, but they tasted like they had been frozen. also had a virgin bloody mary which was tasty. all the food was very salty. i am still thirsty 5 hours later. it is located right on the square and has a patio. read more

I'm torn, on the one hand their tacos carbon are great, on the other hand the salsa is usually terrible and they screwed up enchiladas (it takes hard work to do that). The service is hit or miss. They do have really good fried catfish; the batter is light and crispy. It's honestly the best catfish I've had on Arkansas. This place was surprisingly really really good. I love going to El Dorado's shopping area downtown and this place was great to stop and refuel. Prices were good and it has a laid back patio outside. The waitress was very nice and the food was really good tex mex, compared to what we are used to in Ruston atleast. I got a shrimp stuffed baked potato which was huge and filling and less than $10. I just ordered a taco salad to go but had chips and salsa and a beer while waiting. I loved that they had no problem with substitutions for me. Removed dairy products added salsa and guacamole. The salad was great. I did not see beans on the menu or I would have had them removed as well but they really did add something to the flavor so I have no complaints. The chips and salsa were incredible. The chips were not greasy or salty and the salsa has that incredible slow heat that starts mild and warms you up. Very delicious experience. read more

This is a tex-mex/steakhouse combination restaurant. I've eaten here several times when in town for business and have not become sick. While this place isn't great, it isn't awful. It is a middle of the road type of place. I tend to order the steaks more than any of the mexican fare. It does have a nice outdoor seating area. We ate here today and had an absolutely fantastic experience! Jasmine was our server and she was spectacular! My husband had the #3 combo an he swears it was all homemade and not frozen! I had the Burgundy Steak and it was amazing! ! The grilled asparagus set it off!! My 6 year old had chicken fajita quesadilla it was great! The Crack Dip and Fried Pickles we also very good!! Been here twice. Tried to give them a fair chance. The only thing worth eating were the chips and dip. Waited ten minutes to be sat and there were only two tables with a couple at each.
