I originally had my landscaping done by Larry's Nursery back when the original owner had it, "Larry". He did a beautiful job at a fair price and guaranteed his work for a year! This was about 8 years ago. Fast forward to 2022, when we had a terrible cold snap in December which killed many folks bushes/trees. I lost quite a few. Hubby and I went to Larry's and it has now been sold to "Rick". He spent little time with us and turned it over to Christy. We decided on 4 green velvet boxwoods, 2 spiral boxwoods, 5 rose bushes and some ball bushes that Rick was going to see if he could replace. Within the next week, the AG center of Tennessee put a piece in the paper stating if there was any green on people's plants they should to try and save the plant. We decided to save our ball bushes and not get any rose bushes as well. This left us with changing our order to 4 velvet boxwoods, and 2 spirals. The work was finally done on June 19th, three (3) months later. Our final bill was $2995.00 which $1900.00 was for labor. We paid it. Please understand I, nor anyone, have problems with the amount of the plants. I called the nursery after two friends inquired about the work, and wanted a recommendation. I told them how much the labor was, and they asked if I knew why it was so high? I told them I would call and inquire. I called and asked to speak to whoever handles the accounts receivable so I could get clarity on what goes in to the expense of $1900.00 for the 90 minutes it took to dig up my bushes and replace them. The answer was the heavy equipment, the landfill fee, and gas. I explained there was no heavy equipment other than a wheelbarrow and a shovel used. Christy then told me I needed to probably speak with the owner. The owner then got on the phone and I explained to her I had friends inquiring about the cost of labor. They, too, were interested in new bushes but were concerned about the high cost of their labor. I was kind/quiet and explained to her she didn't have to explain if she didn't want to but I just wanted clarity and also wanted to give her more business. I felt if I could represent her interest then perhaps this could help. At that time, the owner, who never introduced herself by name, began telling me I didn't know her business and what went into it. She stated, the price was a fair price for the heavy equipment, landfill use, labor and overhead. She said, if my friends didn't like it they could go somewhere else, but they had no business questioning anything because it is not their business and they weren't in the landscaping business and didn't know a thing about it, nor did I. I reassured her that was fine. I said I did have one final question, and that was, my bushes did have a six (6) month guarantee, correct? She said, none of their bushes have any guarantee. I explained that when I purchased them I was told by Christy that all of my bushes had a warranty, and was I told incorrectly? She asked if at the time of down payment, was I given a paper stating this as well as how to take care of them? I told her no I had not been. Evidently, Christy was in the background telling her she did, in fact, tell me they were guaranteed for six (6) months. The owner did apologize and said she would get something in the mail to me, and they were guaranteed for six (6) months. I caution anyone to not have any labor done by Larry's. They do have quality plants but they are slow getting your job done; and their labor is outrageously high. I hope they are compensating those who work for them extremely well. I do wish the "real Larry" were back. Their customer service is very poor. Let me digress, I told Rick about a problem with my roses and he told me they were diseased and all needed to be pulled out. I have over twenty (20) plants. I was ready to do that, but then one day I came back to the store and Christy told me I could save them, and gave me, a fungicide as well as explained how to spray them to save them. Now she is the one honest broker there. She has always been kind and courteous. Buyer beware! Go somewhere else. I learned my lesson to the tune of $1900.! read more

I came into Larry's knowing basically what I wanted, but still needed some guidance. I needed topsoil to fill in an area, mulch for planting areas, and sod to cover the area. They helped with how much of each I needed and the timing of deliveries to my home. The topsoil and mulch were delivered first. Because of the location, deep tire tracks were left on the lawn to get the topsoil right on the spot - a small price to pay since it's just me spreading a couple yards of soil with a shovel and rake. The sod came a week later, since I was advised that sod wasn't available this time of year until about mid-October. Not a problem, especially since they were laying the sod for me. So, day of sod delivery, I come home to find a beautifully landscaped area that before was just a small dirt lot. Larry's folks then went the extra mile and laid sod on a small dirt area opposite the main site and even sodded over the tracks in the lawn. A great job. Highly recommended! read more

Right before my husband deployed we went to Larry's to make an appointment to have sod put in some spots in our yard. We were also going to have him do some landscaping, but told him we weren't sure what we wanted, and would let him know. He quoted us $400 for the sod, and then said he would give us a quote for the landscaping after we told him what we wanted. This was in April of 2018, he told us it would be late May early June before he could do the job. So June rolls around, and I called to let him know we decided not to do any landscaping, and would just like to have the sod done. He said ok, it should be in the next few weeks. Well after 2 weeks went buy, I called him and asked when he was coming, he said he could be there next week, but since you aren't doing any landscaping it is going to cost you $640. So I said, you never said anything about the charge going up if we didn't do landscaping, and he got very rude and said it isn't worth his time to come do the sod for $400, which is what HE quoted us. At this point we had been waiting 3 months, and I just really wanted to get the sod done before the rainy season started because of our dogs. So he shows up with his crew and I show them the spots that need to be dug up and have new sod laid. Larry says ok, and then leaves his crew to get to work. Around 1130 they crew took a lunch break that ended up being over an hour, I didn't care because all they had left was two spots in the front yard. Well once they started working on the front yard one of the guys comes to my door, and asked do you want us to dig up the grass or just lay the sod on top of what is already there? Mind you, this is my FRONT yard. So I told him I want it done just like the back yard, and like we had all discussed that morning while Larry was there. So he says ok. So about an hour later I hear truck doors shut, and look outside to realize they had dug up one little spot threw the rest of the sod on top and left!! So I immediately call Larry, and he tells me that it wasn't worth the money, and his crew couldn't be at my house all day. So I then tell him that it is what we agreed on and I paid him $640.00 so he better finish the job and that his crew took over an hour lunch break. Then he tells me that the machine they were using to dig up my old grass broke, and he didn't know when it would be fixed. This entire conversation Larry was arguing with me and being extremely rude. Not only did he raise the price on me, but he tried to take advantage of me knowing that my husband was deployed. After a 20 minute argument with Larry I told him fine, I am canceling the check and you can take me to court, I will win because of the horrible job your company did. He immediately started speaking nicer, and told me he would have them back out the next day (even though that machine was supposedly broken). The next morning they come out and dig up the rest of the grass, and before the ran away again I asked them how I should care for the sod. The crew said, just water it 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening for a few weeks. Well just in case you don't know, it actually needs about 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening for a month, especially in July. My grass almost died, thank goodness for my lawn guy. He explained what I needed to do to save what was left. I would NEVER use Larry for ANYTHING. Extremely rude and he try's to take advantage of his customers. read more

This company has poor customer service.They would not fulfill their warranty. I spent over 1750.00 for landscaping. One of the shrubs died.When I called Larrys Nursery and Landscaping they said they would replace the shrub for 20.00 (half off the price) plus 80.00 labor! I was looking for an established,reputable landscaping company. I thought 29 years in business would have meant a great company.
