I NEVER would have considered stopping at this shop if it weren't for my son wanting to stop in on my recent visit with him in Clarksville. I am more or less a "city boy" and my needs and tastes are so far from "country" that I actually felt a bit awkward just walking into this very nice country store. Rural King sells most anything one could need around your farm and house including food products (both processed and alive), weapons, ammo, clothing, farming equipment, windmills, tractors, and even pet vaccinations. WOW!!! I stopped by the next day to pick up some gifts to take home - fudge, unique butter spread, speciality drinks and other stuff my "daddy, we're city girls" daughters may not normally see in Hawaii. Last night, Jan. 27, I went to the Rural King in Clarksville, TN. To get a chainsaw. I wanted a Stihl chainsaw as they are some of the best on the market, and this is one of the closest locations to get one. Before going to the store, I researched online to find what I was looking for and the models I wanted to see. I checked the store's website, and the same models were in stock for immediate purchase. As we were dealing with snow and ice, I called ahead to confirm the store's closing time: 9:00 pm. So I bundled up, and my service dog, Atlas, jumped in the truck and headed to the store. This was an hour drive to get there, and would be another hour back home through the snow and ice-covered roads. We passed Tractor Supply, Home Depot, and Lowe's on the way to Rural King, all of which had chainsaws in stock and ready to sell but they didn't have Stihl saw. I got to the store just before 6:00 pm and went to the saw section and spent the next 30 minutes looking at the models I had decided to check out. During this time, no one ever checked or asked if they could help. I decided on a saw with a price of $719. I was finally able to flag someone down and advised that I wanted to purchase a saw. I was then informed, "The person covering this section went home, so if you want to buy a saw, you will have to come back tomorrow". Seriously? No one else in the entire store knows how to unlock a cable and sell a person a saw? A rather expensive one at that. Is there a union rule or something that says someone from another department can't sell something from a department outside of theirs, or even a shift supervisor? It was bad enough that all of the saws were covered in dust and dirt, a couple even had the white plastic housing yellowed from being used, but still priced at full retail pricing. So I had to schlep back home without the prime reason I got out in the weather to start with! I know my business is just a drop in the bucket for a company like this, but I guess if it doesn't affect them personally, then they couldn't care less. read more

I ordered 8 bales of straw online and drove over a few hours later and picked it up. I had no problems and the staff was vary courteous. Then, a day or so later I received a call from a customer service manager saying my bales were ready for pickup. When I explained I had already picked them up and have utilized them, she was appreciative for my honesty. I came to home 6 chicks and the person who was helping me couldn't tell me what breeds they were. When I asked him what they chicks were he just said "I'm no chicken connoisseur". That was rude. From how he was looking at me, he had definitely had an issue with my skin color but that has nothing to do with me. Just letting you know. read more

One star rating because I can usually find what I'm shopping for, and today it was suet cakes for my feeders. I've been purchasing them here for years. On occasion some have come out of the package moldy, and are useless. At $5 a pop it gets pricey, but my husband tried to return an item once and it took almost 45 minutes. He left the item on the counter without a refund. Today, the checkout line took 30 minutes. It's a Monday morning at 10 a.m. I'm certainly not saving a penny when I have to stand in line wasting so much time that I could be doing other things. This store has the things you need such as tools and things to repair your home and barn as well as things you need for your daily wear! Great selection of jeans and work outfits to include scrubs and overalls and jackets. Gloves, socks and hats galore can be found. Livestock feed and livestock and guns and ammo can be had along with a cooler to through some snacks and drinks in for when you take your new fishing pole and other gear out that you just bought at Rural King. This place is great for those with a farm and those that like to do outdoors activities. I go there for the outdoors and building supplies, it doesn't have everything but it has enough for some repairs and hobby work. They have seasonal live chickens and sometimes rabbits (I think) for sale. Sunday's are sometimes busy but the weekends are a great time to bring the kids by to see the animals while the parents can do some shopping. They also have fishing gear, hunting gear, some firearms, clothing, building supplies, farm supplies, cat and dog supplies, human food and spices supplies, paints and stains, gardening supplies, grass seed, fertilizer, weed and bug killer supplies, some automotive supplies, tractor supplies, and even fire places/wood burning stoves (for homes and camp/hunting lodges). Not if you are BLACK!!! So you know I'm hate people to play the race card, but they earned theirs. So I'm visiting have a big dog that it's TASTE OF THE WILD red bag. Anyone who owns a dog you can't keep changing their food or they get the runs. So feed stores are your friend. Go in with 2 great grands (boys) 3-5 and the see the first buggy in the isle and we let the little one push it, keeping peace lol. Found another one when we were in another isle so the other one had it. We grab all our junk but cut it short because these buggies are driving me bonkers, we check out 80 plus dollars later and the cashier is so freaking rude, never looks at me never speaks but when I tell her how noisy they are she tells me they are for sale so rude then security stands behind us and watch's and walks all the way to the door. REALLY!!! Put a price tag on them, put them up high I don't know but ugh. This is a military town, why you people of color and with common sense allow people like this to prosper in your town is crazy. I will make sure I never spend another dime there or any place where I am treated rudely. I'll drive to another town to shop because one I can, and two I love to travel I'll make a day trip out of it. Sucks to be this company, and I'll pray for ya. read more

I ordered from Rural King on line and paid a lot (close to the price of the product) to have it shipped within 3 days. After 11 days I called because the website said it still hadn't shipped, no response. I emailed customer service, they said be patient. I have been patient, it is almost 4x the promised time, no product, no shipping date. So they said it has been moved to another warehouse but they don't have it. Then said it was sent to another warehouse. They can't tell me when/if it will ship. It is already paid for so I can't just cancel. Big hassle and horrible customer service. read more

Yesterday we traveled to Clarksville for our weekly grocery trip and were disappointed that there wasn't a Tractor Supply there. We live in Charlotte and are expecting our first delivery of poultry and game birds this week. I found this store after a quick Internet search and we stopped by to grab feed and other supplies we still needed. We couldn't believe the sheer enormity of this place!! MUCH bigger and cheaper than Tractor Supply! (Now we know why there isn't one in Clarksville!) Not only did they have farm stuff like feed and bedding, they also had a huge variety of clothing, boots, beekeeping equipment, household items, kitchen gadgets, truck and tractor accessories, home improvement items and tools. Women's restroom was clean although two stalls were put of order. If it weren't for the sour faced, grumpy and just plain weird employees, this would be a 5 star review - hands down! read more

They have everything you could want here. But getting someone to help you is near impossible. I would prefer to take our business elsewhere but my husband likes coming here and they do have really good sales at times. The people working up front are ok.. Won't go out their way for you or anything but the people on the warehouse are horrible. I was so close to cursing this one female out the only thing that saved her was the fact I needed to get back to my baby but next time I will. I only give 2 because it's not everyone and they do have things you need here. If Home Depot or Lowes were closer I'd make my husband go to those places. read more

Man I love this place, it's a more country version of Tractor Supply.... only with more stuff. I'm not in clarksville much but when I am, it usually includes a stop at Rural King supply. I love to walk in and wander around as I find something interesting in some corner each time. Last time I was there I found camo shirts with the sleeve already ripped off, who can resist one of those? I also love they carry unfinished furniture and Lodge cast iron cookware. You can even buy pets, farm animals and supplies here! They have a full garden center and sell farm equipment out front. need a hitchpin for a brush hog? check inside. need a new disk or brushhog, walk through the parking lot and browse around. If you have a little time to kill, stop by and check this place out, odds are you're going to walk out with something. read more

Rural King is an irresponsible store. My car got dented by one of their carts in the parking lot and they denied my claim. Reason: it was the negligence of another shopper not their store. The reason I received from the NATIONWIDE AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE is they asked the manager if carts were actively being retrieved he said yes so I have no claim. There aren't any cart return stations and there are carts all over the place. I parked at the very end of the parking lot because I respect property and didn't want to cause any damage or receive any. The car was 3 days old when their shopping cart hit it and had less than 100 miles in it. read more

Wide selection of Farm,Feed, Homesteading, Tools/Hardware/ Hunting Supplies/ Firearms/ Ammo and Prepping supplies. What they carry is subject to change and the hunting supplies sell out really fast. Everything is seasonal and bow hunting supplies sell out by late October and are usually stocked in August so be on the lookout! Returns are pretty easy but do not expect the employees to know more than you do about what they have or where to find it. read more

What can I say except I absolutely love this place!!! When I go shopping for my pet and home supplies, this is ALWAYS my first stop. The manager, Jackie, was unnecessarily rude. Went in to check on application one day and she wasn't there, and was told to come back 2 days later when she was there. While I was there, I asked if minors were able to apply and be hired, because I knew 2 people who have desperately been looking for jobs. And they said yes as long as they're over 16 because they really needed people. So I returned when she was there, and told her we wanted to check on our applications and first thing she did was ask if any were minors and when I told her the other 2 were, she instantly became rude. And said "I am at my limit with minors" and was rude about it. So when I told her I was informed that they were in fact hiring minors, she said it again but louder and more rude. So I just thanked her and walked off and she had a smug look on her face. Instead of being rude about it she could've said "I'm sorry someone told you that but we need more 18 and older employees" but no. I don't know how she expects to get more employees with her attitude. read more

Its a warehouse not fancy none of the lights are on or busted so its dark and messy there was dog urine in the floor one day and no one cleaned it up.The service is not great if you have a coupon its probably a guaranteed they won't know how to enter it in the computer. Lines are long and apparently they throw baby chickens in dumpsters but if you want cheap its cheap. read more

I go here for dog food once every couple of weeks. Great prices on treats and food. A little expensive in their hardware sections, but its convenient so cant complain to much. ONLY concern is that a lot of the employees look at me like I am stupid when I ask for a 5 way shot series for a dog, Or ask their opinion on the best brand for certain pet products. Cashiers tend to be helpful and nice, offering to help me to my car when I have a cart full of food. read more
