Nice open space for events in Cruces…read more It is nice open area with tapestries in the center. It even has a sun dial in the center. I practically missed it because it was impressed by the design in and of itself. The place is already set up for Christmas, but I wasn't sure if they had done a Christmas tree lighting yet. In the daytime, with the blue sky above, the tree looked beautiful though. I like that there is plenty of seating around the plaza, both covered and uncovered. The plaza is within walking distance of several eateries, casual and fine dining, and the historic Rio Grande Theater. I would like to return for the seasonal special events for sure.

They have so many shops including this heavily recommended bookstore that my husband likes called Coas Bookstore. They say once you enter in that bookstore, it's hard to walk out and you will get lost. It's like a maze! The Plaza is very clean with decent parking and has excellent food and even the public is friendly and approachable. The tiles of the sidewalks are detailed and every shop is decorated for the holidays.

They are simply magic here both in terms of flavor complexity and texture. Their texture here is truly the best. I literally was licking the plate at the end of each of these. I tried all four of their moles as plates and also as a sampler on four different occasions and all are very complex, rich, creamy and satisfying. -Mole Poblano. "A not so sweet ajillo pepper mole sauce with traditional ingredients and a touch of Oaxaca chocolate." This was the first we tried here and what brought us back for more. -Mancha Manteles mole: This mole is described on their menu as: "Sweet pineapple, red apples, fried plantain and a wonderful choice of spices make this mole a great and unique experience". This mole like their other ones came out piping hot, creamy, thick, complex and delicious. -Mole Negro: Chichilo pepper and tomatillo mole sauce with a smoky taste and a hint of ash. -Mole Verde o Pipian. Toasted pumpkin seeds and tomatillo mole sauce with a hint of hoja santa (root beer plant) My husband and I get their enmoladas stuffed with vegetables and get double serving of the black beans (rice has chicken stock so we avoid it to keep the meal vegan/ vegetarian). The plates are always piping hot and soooo yummy. When they have all four moles available they offer a sampler as well. We did this on our last visit and it was fun to revisit the 4 moles we had their side by side and compare them. I really love the ambiance out on the peaceful patio and there's cover form the sun. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! The insalata paolo was half the size it normally had been. It's supposed to be a salad for 2, tonight it was a salad for 1. The salmon pasta was plain, the salmon was raw, and seemed to be deep fried. We sent it back, and after a long wait we got another piece of oily deep fried salmon that was raw on the inside. The focaccia bread served with the pasta was rock hard and stale. We gave up and checked out. The server seemed busy and rushed, but was nice enough to take the salmon off the bill.

Our server, Allison, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The pleasant owner showed up a little later and we enjoyed talking with him while we finished our tasting. We usually prefer dry reds, but Amaro has some unique sweet (not overly) wines such as Amour and Ambrosia, that we loved. We are glad that they ship to our state so we can order more wine soon. Added bonus, the patio is pup friendly in case you want to take your fur baby. Note: New Mexican wines are a hidden gem!

Heart Magazine is a free publication in the Las Cruces/El Paso areas. It's so well presented that I…read morefeel bad grabbing a complimentary copy...it feels like stealing. This magazine is only published 3 times/year so it's a hot find once a new issue is released. Heart praises women in the community, it provides resources for parenting, health, beauty, dating, careers, etc. It's about positive self improvement. After reading their articles, Heart doesn't make me feel self conscious about who I am or make me feel that I need material items to make me feel better about myself (unlike the goal of a lot of women's magazines out there). It's a great motivator. Since I'm a graphic designer, I have to note that the graphic design is exceptional...not something you would expect from a free publication. My favorite article in the Summer 2007 issue: "{Just Ask Jeff} Love & Sex: a guide to awe, shock and tingly sensations". Somehow this writer summed up most of my experience with love from grade school up to my present life. The only difference was it was told by a man's point of view...if that makes any sense. You might have to read it to understand. Pick one up today!

I've eaten a lot of Italian food over the years, and this was easily some of the best I've had. The Alfredo was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor without feeling heavy. The pesto penne was fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. We kept trading bites because we couldn't decide which one was better. Even before the entrees came out, the salad and bread were amazing. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. Nothing felt rushed or mass-produced. You can tell there is real pride behind the food here. What stood out just as much was the hospitality. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and made us feel genuinely appreciated. We had the chance to chat with the owner's mother before leaving, and that level of warmth really reflects what this restaurant is about. It's rare to find a place where every part of the meal hits, from the bread and salad all the way to the last bite of pasta,but Lorenzo's absolutely delivered. We'll be back, and we'll be bringing friends and family with us. If you're in Las Cruces and wondering whether this place is worth trying, the answer is yes.
