We had such a wonderful wine tasting experience at Amaro Winery that we ended up purchasing several bottles to take home. Our server, Allison, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The pleasant owner showed up a little later and we enjoyed talking with him while we finished our tasting. We usually prefer dry reds, but Amaro has some unique sweet (not overly) wines such as Amour and Ambrosia, that we loved. We are glad that they ship to our state so we can order more wine soon. This is one of my favorite spots in Las Cruces to have some wine and hang out with friends on a weekend night. They have many options to choose from with a wide range of sweet and dry wines. I am not an expert on wine so I asked their staff for help and they walked me through the options of wine. I started trying wines by the glass and when my friends and I decided on the one we liked the most we ended up getting the bottle. I visited this place on a Friday night and they had live music. This is a great spot to catch some of your favorite local musicians and singers. Amaro has accessible prices and a nice environment, I can't wait for them to be able to open again when the pandemic allows it. read more

I was in town and wanted to take a bottle of local wine to take home. Arrived in the evening and it was quite the party. Apparently it was salsa night and lot were dancing. I love this winery. The owners are so friendly and awesome. Their wine is personally produced by the owner, who comes from a multigenerational family of wine vineyard farmers back in Germany. Their wine tastes so flavorful, bold, and fresh !! They have a karaoke stage open to anyone for singing in their back patio area. I love this little place. Dog friendly. Live music on certain evenings. Great patio. Clean bathrooms. And super friendly staff. $9 for the VIP tasting. That's all the wines they have available. I was sad the tempranillo wasn't available because that's become my favorite new wine. But the chenin blanc was fantastic and I bought a bottle of that. Local food trucks pull up or grab a Boars head cheese tray. This may seem a little out of the way if you are doing wine tastings in the area. But I highly recommend stopping by here after, say, the farmers market downtown or another event on the plaza downtown on Main. The wines are really good, the flights are inexpensive and the pours are excellent (and if you just can't decide they might pour you a taste more!) and you can bring your dog inside! read more

Check out this hidden gem in the middle of downtown Las Cruces! The owners are very hands on. The husbands family has been in the wine and grape growing for generations. Have a glass of wine with him at the bar. He is very informative and willing to share his knowledge with you. His wife is very hard working behind the bar big smile happy to help in any way. Their wines are the best I have found in New Mexico. My favorite is the most expensive they make Refesco sells for about $28.00 reminds me of a Stalglin Napa wine that sells for about $100. They have live entertainment, good promotions, wine club, well worth the trip. Owners greet you like long lost family! Looking forward to my next visit. read more

It really wasn't that bad. The Dad's GF took us here. I do have to get used to the region and their wine style. The standout was the Tempranillo. More fruit then I'm used to, but decent. Hey, what can I say, I'm a Temecula guy; love the big, bold, beefy and loaded with Tannins. Most of the really didn't vary in flavor, the grape was there; but beyond that, don't expect any past that. For the purest, this place rocks. The Zin, Cab, Dolcetto and the Montepulciano good. Would have like to tasted the Malbec. The place is pretty secluded and private. The patio area was perfect for us as there was a band playing. The table we are seated at was right in front of the speaker so we choose to go outside. It was a nice cool desert night, perfect for wine. The service we had was nice, courteous and attentive. Next time for a visit, plan to go back. Did fall in love with the sculpture outside!! This is hands down the worst spot in Las Cruces. The venue is small and the owners are very unapproachable. Particularly the owners wife. She is cold and not very polite. I also didn't like that two men claiming to be the wine makers came up to me and my friends and made us feel a little uncomfortable. Avoid this establishment! read more

I was hoping for a good experience based on the look from outside and the nice patio leading into the tasting room - but eh, not so much. We were greeted quickly and poured our first glass, but then the server walked away and it took forever for another lady to come back with our second tasting. The whites were watery and not very flavorful and the reds were really strong, but also lacking any real flavor. Not my favorite. read more

We went here the other night with friends. The interior is attractive and there is affordable art on the walls for purchase. Although there weren't many people, I would like to see this place do well. I hear there's a salsa night on Fridays, so that will hopefully take off. One complaint is that after sampling a few wines and ordering a full glass, the attendant poured the white wine into the glass I had used for tasting 3 other wines, and there was still a small sip of red wine in it. I couldn't believe the error and hope it was just a newbie mistake... Paying $6 for a contaminated glass of wine isn't my idea of a fine wine-tasting experience. Maybe next time. read more

Listen. I'm not going to edit the truth. I work here, in the tasting room, now. Have worked bi-annual festivals with Amaro for years. Before I worked here... I used their tasting room as a study space. There is no greater space to write a twelve page paper on Shakespeare's "Titus Adronicus" than in THIS tasting room. The same goes for writing poetry, organizing meeting agendas and reviewing organizing details for fund-raisers. No greater space to have your friends and family help you drown your woes about turning 30. No greater place for a first date with an ex-boy friend who is now one of your best friends. No greater place for a another date with your new boyfriend. Where you brought food that you cooked yourself (and you told one of the owners that was going to happen so she reviewed your recipe ahead of time and helped pick a perfect pairing!) The tasting room wine stewards will help you find the wine you like. Just sit tight and communicate about what's wrong and what's right with the first sample. No one takes offense if the Cabernet is too dry for your palate. No one will stress if the Chenin Blanc (traditional, not Dry... because they have TWO) is too sweet for you. Seriously though. The Dry Cenin Blanc is pretty delish with a grilled chicken salad. Amaro Winery is a locally owned business that will cater to your needs if you tell them what your needs are. read more

Went to a wine tasting here this weekend and enjoyed it. I am not a wine aficionado by any stretch but I like tasting different types and trying to "develop my palette" or whatever it's called (LoL) Unfortunately they did not have many (or any?) really sweet dessert wines that I prefer but I did like the Cruces Sunrise, probably the sweetest they have.
