We only had drinks here. The churros with chocolate were SOOO tempting, but we ran in, in total honesty, to check in for our airlines 24 hours in advance. It was cool outside, and we needed some privacy instead of standing on the narrow sidewalk. We were not very hungry, we had a big breakfast already, but after walking around a bit, a warm drink hit the spot. The staff was efficient and smooth. It was almost 12:30 on a Tuesday, but there were a good amount of people there. My decaf coffee was very good and a good price too. Jamie W and I had already checked off our must-try for chocolate con churros, Chocolatería San Ginés, and deemed them five-star tasty. Common sense would've brought us back to San Ginés, but I said to myself that there surely must be competitive options in Madrid. After finishing a particularly satisfying vegetarian dinner at Artemisa, we strolled around Puerta del Sol and found this cafe open. Although online reviews seemed decent enough, it might've been a tell-tale sign that there weren't any customers at an evening hour when you'd expect people munching on something sweet. Well, the lack of a queue was definitely appealing since we had to finish up our laundry back at the aparthotel. We ordered four Churros at 0.65€ each and shared a 3,4€ cup of Hot Chocolate (Photo 7). We added a couple of 2€ Cafe au Laits for good measure (Photo 10). Our verdict? We were disappointed because the churros tasted like they had been sitting around for a while. Not stale but more like an unpopular donut. The hot chocolate was just not enough to offset the churro because it lacked the rich consistency of the one served at San Ginés. We can say the coffee and milk hit the spot though. Stopped for chocolate and churro, but instead got the combo for 5€ as I didn't think I could do the large Chu and chocolate and coffee. Didn't have any coffee the last two days so doubled up today, lol. It was all good and couldn't beat the price. read more

Located on Calle Mayor, this is definitely a place to savor Churros, Porras, Fresh Squeezed Juice, Sandwiches and other treats. We went for Breakfast, and Churros & Chocolate, Cafe Cortadito, Juice were ordered. They also have Sandwiches, Tortillas, Bollos. The Churros were delicious, fresh, hot, sugary. The Fresh Orange Juice refreshing. Hot thick Chocolate to dip the Churros on, a dream come true. Café is always good and strong in Spain. The place was packed. We were lucky that a table empty out as we arrived. One orders by the counter and then finds a spot to sit. read more

In madrid i found myself craving churros snd this spot was one we passed on our way as we walked back from the Plaza Mayor. The place looked like they were famous for churros so we figured why not! The good - the churros were great and chocolate dunking sauce was too. - clean bathroom - you gave to understand with the heat and amount if water you drink in Madrid this is super important! - espresso was delicious! The bad - churros were not freshly made, they had been made and were sitting inn the glass case - the chocolate to churros ratio was off, seems wasteful to just dump that chocolate - they seem to only offer drink and churros combos not individuals? Holy cow! This place took me by surprise. Yesterday I went to San Glines and there was no line but today there was like a 30 minute wait. So I crossed the street like a big girl instead of crying and found this place instead thanks to Yelp. I know I shouldn't be eating this many churros but damn, they are good! There was a girl handing out cold samples and I thought, "no, this place will fail me" but I reminded myself that Costco has samples and they are amazing so I gave it a try. The two girls in front of me got their order wrong so they had two hot chocolates left and when I ordered churros with chocolate, they gave me the one the girls in front gave away. I would have been upset but it was still piping hot so I decided to pick and choose my battles. The churros were warm but not hot hot but because the hot chocolate was burning basically, it worked. The chocolate here is richer and more milk based than the one at San Glines. It really tastes better. I was looking around for powdered sugar to indulge myself since it was necessary for the churros I had at San Glines but these were amazing without it. The churros here are also much bigger, double in size and denser which I prefer. If I had to do churros again, I would come here over San Glines. They also cost only 3.5€ compared to the 4€!! I came to this cafe to get some coffee before heading to the airport. The place is near calle mayor and it is very convenient to the station. I stopped by and got some coffee. I didnt even get the right change back and when I tried asking for it, the girl pretended that she didnt know what I was saying. Not bad at all. Didn't quite make it to Chocolatería San Ginés, but this is a nice little shop to sit down and have a little dessert. For a little more than 3€, you get 5 churros and a cup of hot dipping chocolate. The churros were a little cold, but the chocolate was hot, thick, delicious, and not overwhelmingly sweet. This by far was the best churros con chocolate that I had I was super upset that we tried this on our last day in Spain because by far out of all the places this was the best most delicious and beautiful. The orange juice was very fresh and sweet the churros were all made fresh to order and the chocolate was perfectly sweetened. Unfortunately I was never able to try the food at this location, but the one star is for the service I received which resulted in me leaving before I could even order. My friend who is visiting me here in Madrid wanted to try some Spanish churros, so while walking near Plaza Mayor we found this location and decided to give it a try. I was finishing up a phone call outside, but my friend had to use the restroom and so I told her to go in, use the restroom, and I would meet her in a minute to order our churros and eat there. My friend, upon entering, informed the staff that she would be using the restroom first (Since the restrooms are only for paying customers), but that she would then be ordering some churros and that her friend, me, would be in a moment. I entered the establishment and was greeted by a friendly woman. As I walked towards the back of the restaurant to locate my friend I had all of the three or four employees screaming (And I am not exaggerating when I say screaming) at me. I ask them what's going on and they tell me that the bathroom is for paying customers. I tell them that I'm aware of this, I'm just looking for my friend who is either sat down or ... and before I could finish my sentence a different employee tells me, "Where? I don't see her? Where is she?" I respond and tell her, "If you would have let me finish talking, I would have told she that she's probably still in the restroom." While I wait for my friend in the restroom, the employee stands by my side the entire time simply glaring at me. Finally, my friend leaves the restroom and I tell my friend we will not be eating here and then told the staff that we were planning on eating here, but after being screamed at and receiving terrible service we would be taking our business elsewhere. I tried to request an official complaint form, but was denied. The location looked nice enough, as did the churros, and I'm sure they would've been great. But as a result of the staff and their behavior, I will not be going here ever again. Be careful with this place!
