3 stars for average tacos and decent service. My friend and I were craving tacos and we stumbled upon this place. The restaurant gave off a really "hole in the wall" vibe but it was somewhat busy so we figured we would give it a shot. I really feel like they were understaffed or something because the food took a good amount of time to come out and when the food did come out, it didn't come out all at once. Other than the service, everything else was solid. I had the carne asada, pastor, and chorizo tacos which were all okay. The chips and salsa were also okay, nothing too special about them.

So far this is my favorite Mexican restaurant. You will see a bunch of locals dining here which creates an authentic feel. This restaurant is also a grocery store and they have a large inventory of pinatas!! I ordered 1 fish taco and 1 shrimp taco but they only gave me the fish taco..I didn't mind since I wasn't hungry. It's about $2 for one taco. He ordered a quesadilla which he couldn't finish. I tried it and eh. I absolutely loved my fish taco. It was so flavorful. I was not expecting this blast of flavors. The fish was so tender and I usually don't eat the shells of tacos but I did this time! I loved that it didn't break apart. I really wish they gave me the shrimp taco since the fish taco was so good. They also serve chips and salsa. The chips were warm and crisp but the salsa sucked because it was runny. This saved us both the calories! We sat there for hours chatting and they were practically done cleaning to the point where they were about to close. I appreciated that they didn't kick us out! What do you do when you're done eating? Pay at the counter. They didn't give us a bill so I guess it's a trust system - tell them what you ordered. Overall, this meal satisfied his hangry moment so that's always a plus. This was the first restaurant we went to where he recommended trying it! Props to him.

This is the best Mexican food I have had in Knoxville. I can't believe it's so close by and I never realized you can get good food here and sit down and eat it too. Hole in the wall that is definitely worth giving a try. Right next to McDonald's on Chapman Hwy closer to the bridge. When you go in, seat yourself. It's also a store,so turn left when you walk in. There are 2 doors but only the one to the store is opened.

Best place to get Mexican food in town. Maybe brush up on your Spanish before you go, but you will never be disappointed.

On the way out grab a strawberry palleta icepop from the convenient store there for dessert.

All were delicious, but I would come back for the BigShrimpin' taco. If you like buffalo sauce and blue cheese, it worked so well with the crispy fried shrimp. Yum! The hubby liked the chorizo tater tot taco. Friendly, delicious, good prices, and faster than fast food. Great work, Chivo!!

Started with salsa & chips. The chips came out warm and the salsa (both green and red) tasted soooo fresh. You can tell everything is made in house. I had steak fajitas for my main course and I'm not exaggerating when I say they were the best fajitas I've ever had! The steak was extremely flavorful and juicy. It came with hot tortillas and all the toppings you could want. My husband ordered 3 tacos (codfather, big shrimpin & tators gonna tate). All were amazing! The service here was also exceptional. The food came out shockingly fast and sooner than expected. The staff was kind and attentive. Bartender Maddie was excellent! This place really exceeded my expectations and will be a regular stop when we're in town. 10/10 Chico love u

First, I thought I had reviewed them already-- so if I do two, that's why…read more I'm giving this 5 stars relating it to other SIMILAR places-- that is, Mexican restaurants within a grocery store--- i.e. more limited menu (although their's is pretty broad), not full bar-service (but they have beer), and not fancy. For what it is-- it is really scrumptious. I had a few tacos, a ceviche tostada and a beer. BIG lunch-- I took one taco home. All the items were really chock-ful of meat. The carnitas on that taco was way too much to be able to pick up the taco with it all inside. They had a good mix of onions and cilantro on them, although I'd have preferred to add my own (I LOVE cilantro). I wish it was nearer; I'd go back often.

The salsa and chips--- First bite tasted like tomato paste to me, very tangy and had a kick of spice. Chips were warm. No Guacamole!!!! What Mexican place has no guac? Chimichanga de pollo-- Shredded chicken with some onions, peppers and covered in cheese sauce. Fajitas mixta-- Steak was a little tough and chicken was very thin slices. Lacked some spices. More onions, green peppers and tomatoes than meat. It wasn't bad, but for our taste we have had better. The whole meal lacked spices. Would we recommend? Yes, give it a try, you might like it. Salsa is good but it's too tomato pastey for us.
